ROB ZOMBIE: New Album Title, Release Date Revealed
Rob Zombie has set "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" as the title of his new album, due on April 23 via Zodiac Swan/T-Boy/Ume. T-Boy Records is veteran rock manager Andy Gould's new partnership withUniversal Music Enterprises (UMe) which will serve as an umbrella label releasing new music and albums from established iconic hard-rock bands with major followings. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with everyone from BLACK SABBATH and ALICE COOPER to WILSON PHILLIPS and LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
In an interview with the Toledo Free Press, Zombie stated about"Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor": "It seems to happen every couple of years or every 10 years or every five years or whatever, you have a moment when it all comes together. Not that the other records are bad, but not every record can be like the most inspired event in your life. But for some reason, this one feels like it is. The songwriting, the sound of it, the vibe, the production — it's special."
According to Zombie, fans can expect an album that touches quite a few musical bases.
"It's stylistically sort of a little bit of everything," Zombie said. "Fans of my really old stuff will love it because there's a certain aspect of it that's very reminiscent of that. But it also is very looking to the future. It's hard to describe music to somebody if they haven't heard it, but I feel like it's the best of all of the things I've done. I've finally found a perfect match between the old stuff I did and the new stuff. That's the way it sounds to me anyway."
The singer released a collection of remixes of various ZOMBIE tracks on August 7, 2012 called "Mondo Sex Head". The remixes feature some of the hottest names in the growing electronic dance music scene, along with contributions from Jonathan Davis of KORN and Chino Moreno ofDEFTONES.
Gould, who currently heads his own Spectacle Entertainment Group, has managed Rob Zombie since his days in WHITE ZOMBIE. Gould's track record includes sales exceeding fifteen million worldwide and sevenGrammy nominations with Zombie, including securing deals for Zombieto become one of only a handful of people to have unprecedented success for six feature films as the writer and director.
"We have had a great deal of success in the past with Rob Zombie," explains Gould about his decision to take the new venture to UMe. "We want to sign rock bands with brand names that do good business on the road, and have been underserved by the major label system. The idea I had arose out of discussions with the other managers of major hard-rock acts who all felt their artists could benefit from an improved label experience. We're looking to super-serve this niche audience, which is tremendously loyal, and is often even larger internationally than here in the States."
STONE SOUR: 'House Of Gold & Bones - Part 2' Cover Artwork Unveiled
The cover artwork for the second part of STONE SOUR's "House Of Gold & Bones" double album can be seen below. The effort, which is expected to be released in April, will also be made available as a four-issue comic book.
Like the story, the "House Of Gold & Bones" album package comes in two parts. When the two pieces meet, they combine to create the"House Of Gold & Bones".
When asked by ThisIsNotAScene what fans can expect from the second part of "House Of Gold & Bones", singer Corey Taylor said: "Part 2 is much darker [than the first part], if I'm honest. Aside from it being a completely different album, it feels more like a soundtrack to a movie in a lot of ways, man. It's really thematic. There are themes from part 1 that reveal themselves and that come again, musically. There's actually stuff from part 2 that you'll hear that's on part 1 and you'll be like, 'Fucking hell!'"
He continued: "We essentially recorded these, and this is where technology is now, so you could have these in a playlist on your iTunesand play them top to fucking bottom and really get that experience while you read both parts. So it's some of our darkest music, our most intricate and complex music, some of the best fucking lyrics I've ever written, to be honest. Even writing from a narrative like that, it was so challenging. Plus, it's got some of our best songs on it.
"You guys think part one's good? Fuck off. 'Do Me A Favor' alone is going to kick the shit out of people and that's going to be the first single, which comes out in January, that's going to be the first taste that people get of part 2, and people aren't going to know what to do."
STONE SOUR will send its new single, "Do Me A Favor", to rock radio stations on February 12. A video is already in the planning stages, with director Phil Mucci tapped to film the clip. Taylor gave The Pulse Of Radio a preview of what to expect from the song. "It's quite aggressive, and actually the label asked me if I would go in and tame stuff down and I was like, 'No.' I'm not doing that," he said. "This is going out the way it is and I'm not gonna touch it up. I'm not gonna have people looking for a song that doesn't exist. This is the way it is on the album, that's the way it's going to be when we put it out to radio."
"House Of Gold & Bones - Part 1" came out last fall.
Taylor recently told Billboard.com recently that the group is planning a world tour in 2014 during which they will spend two nights in each city and perform both halves of its "House Of Gold & Bones" double album in their entirety.
STONE SOUR and PAPA ROACH have teamed up for a co-headlining U.S. tour that kicked off on January 20 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

ROB ZOMBIE's New Album To Include Cover Of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's 'We're An American Band'
The eagerly awaited new ROB ZOMBIE album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", will be released on April 23 on Zodiac Swan/T-Boy/Ume. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with everyone from BLACK SABBATH and ALICE COOPER toWILSON PHILLIPS and LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
"I think for the first time this new album perfectly merges the old days ofWHITE ZOMBIE with the future of what I am doing now," says Rob. "I think fans of both will agree that this is the perfect combo of both worlds."
A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. Now, the seven-time Grammy-nominated recording artist releases his fifth solo album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", which includes the first single, "Dead City Radio And The New Gods Of Super Town", along with such tracks as "Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga", "Lucifer Rising", "Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures" and a heavy-duty cover of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's "We're an American Band".
"Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor" is the first release on Rob's new label, Zodiac Swan, through T-Boy Records/UMe.
Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio what goals he set for himself in making the new album. "I wanted someone to hear it and go, 'Wow, I haven't heard that before,'" he said. "I wanted it to be just different. We really went out of our way with the sounds, so every song has a very different sound, a very different guitar sound, drum sound, just everything, where the sound, the actual sound becomes very important. You know, after all these years you want to still try to feel that you can break through new, creative areas in your own mind, and that's really what we're just trying to do, you know."
T-Boy Records is veteran rock manager Andy Gould's new partnership with Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) which will serve as an umbrella label releasing new music and albums from established iconic hard-rock bands with major followings.
As a musician, Rob Zombie has sold over fifteen million albums worldwide to date. His last studio album was "Hellbilly Deluxe 2". The CD came a decade after its predecessor, "Hellbilly Deluxe", the album that established Zombie as a solo artist after the breakup of multi-platinum group WHITE ZOMBIE. That triple-platinum album also yielded a string of successful radio singles, namely "Dragula", "Superbeast" and "Living Dead Girl", which dominated the airwaves.
The rocker-turned-film director is the only artist to experience unprecedented success in both music and film as the writer/director of five feature films, with a worldwide gross totaling more than $100 million dollars. The week of his album release, Zombie will premiere his sixth motion picture, "The Lords Of Salem", that he wrote, directed and produced in tandem with the producers of the "Paranormal Activity"franchise, on April 26, with Anchor Bay Films.
Last year, in addition to working on his film, Zombie also dominated the touring world in 2012, blowing away audiences on the road withMEGADETH, then with MARILYN MANSON for the "Twins Of Evil Tour".Zombie and his band of maniacs — John 5 on guitar, Piggy D on bass and Ginger Fish on drums — brought their elaborate, multi-media production, complete with hair-raising theatrics, animatronic robots, oversized LED screens, a non-stop collage of psychotronic monster film clips, a spectacular light show, a gigantic robot with flames shooting out of its body, pyrotechnics, insane guitar riffs and vicious beats to audiences and festivals around the world.

Stone Sour's Corey Taylor Says House of Gold and BonesWas “Tailor-Made” for Comic Book Adaptation
Fans don’t have too much longer to wait to get their hands on Stone Sour’s comic book adaptation of their double concept album, House of Gold and Bones. Frontman Corey Taylor, who’s an avid comic book fan, says that creating the four-issue mini-series was an easy decision.
“I wanted to do it with this because it honestly felt, no pun intended, kind of tailor-made for it,” he tells ABC News Radio. “I wrote the short story [that House of Gold and Bones is based on] so it could be very visual. I wanted it to evoke a kind of imaginative projection in people’s heads, so I think it was a really short jump to comics, so it made sense to do that.”
Taylor adds that while he enjoyed the experience of making his first comic book series, he doesn’t expect to produce more of them in the future. “Stuff like that…it takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of energy, takes a lot of effort and a lot of hard work,” he notes. “Just from a four-issue mini-series standpoint, it’s been kicking my butt the whole time, so I don’t know. I hate to say never, but you never know.”
The first issue of the House of Gold and Bones comic book mini-series will be available on April 17. House of Gold and Bones Part 2, which doesn’t have a firm release date yet, is expected to be released in April as well.

KORN Singer Presented With American Flag Flown In Combat Over Afghanistan
KORN fan and United States Air Force Shift Supervisor Michael Bowserpresented the band's lead singer, Jonathan Davis, with an American flag flown in combat over Afghanistan onboard a B-1B bomber in support of operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom for KORN on September 11, 2012. Watch the video below.
Davis last year visited wounded U.S. soldiers at a base in Germany, where he also spent some time taking a course in bomb disposal training. Davisvisited Rammstein Air Force Base, where he strapped on a bomb suit at one point and learned how to operate the bomb disposal robot. After passing the egg test — using the robot to pick up, transport, and drop an egg in a bowl without breaking it — Davis also took a class in Readiness and Emergency Management: Chemical, Biological, Radiological/Nuclear Warfare Defense Orientation. The singer also signed autographs, took photos and ate lunch with the troops at the USO's Wounded Warrior Center before leaving.
The members of KORN were moved last summer when they were presented with the uniform of a Marine killed in Afghanistan in 2010. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Marine Lance Corporal William H. "Billy" Crouse IV was killed in a bombing in the country's Helmand province two years earlier. At a 2012 concert in Fort Wayne, Indiana,Crouse's brother Ryan Rothman presented Davis with Crouse's uniform, saying, "I want to give this uniform formally to you on behalf of my family. The inspiration you have had on my life and the impact of things you've brought me through and the things we shared through you and your music, I wanted him to be with you."
Davis responded, "I feel for your loss. We've lost a lot of kids, but it wasn't in vain, it was to keep our way of life going. I will have a special place for this, always."
In a video about his brother, Rothman spoke about Crouse's first KORNshow, recalling, "When he was 13 years old, I took him to Indianapolis to see KORN. He was a lot bigger than me, and we went into the mosh pits. He was protecting me at that point, even though he was my little brother."
Davis has done a lot of work with the USO and the Wounded Warriorsorganization, arranging to spend time visiting injured members of the military in hospitals.
DROWNING POOL: 'One Finger And A Fist' Lyric Video Released
The official lyric video for "One Finger And A Fist", a brand new song from Texas heavy rockers DROWNING POOL, can be seen below. The track will appear on the band's fifth album, which is due out later this year via Eleven Seven Music. The band teamed up with producer Kato Khandwalla at House of Loud Studios in New Jersey, as well as John Feldmann (THE USED, STORY OF THE YEAR), and completed the album in Dallas.
DROWNING POOL bassist Stevie Benton recently spoke to AOL'sNoisecreep about the latest addition to the group lineup: singer Jasen Moreno. Moreno, who previously fronted fellow Texas band THE SUICIDE HOOK, is DROWNING POOL's fourth and newest frontman. Jasenreplaces vocalist Ryan McCombs, who exited the group at the end of 2011 after a six-year stint in the lineup.
Asked how DROWNING POOL's chemistry has been affected by the singer changes over the years, Benton said: "Well, it's a forced form of band evolution, I would say, certainly not something you strive for and not something that I would advise other bands to do, because it's a lot of extra work and it's hard on you at times, but for us, we still had a such great time with Dave [Williams, DROWNING POOL's original singer] and such great vibes still remains and we've been trying to recapture that ever since then. It feels cheap to stick with a chemistry that just doesn't feel right and so maybe that's why we've had a lot of turnover. We knew if we switched singers again that a lot of people would look at it and make comments, but for us it seemed like it was worth it to take that shot at capturing the best chemistry we ever had. So we did. Look, sometimes you have to shift gears and I'm sure some of our ex-singers feel the same way: 'I can't wait to get the hell out of here.'"
He added: "One thing we have learned is that each singer has strong points and weak points and we've learned to craft the sound of the band that will benefit the singer at the time. It can be tricky at times to learn the nuances of it, but this time around, one fortunate thing is Jasen, our new singer, is a Dallas guy, we've know him for years and so it's not like having a stranger coming in. We had a great idea about him though, who he is and what he is about, and so we've been able to hit the ground running."
Moreno made his live debut as a member of DROWNING POOL on July 8, 2012 at a club in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
DROWNING POOL's video for the song "Saturday Night" was directed byJon Bertorelli and produced by Daniel Livschultz, both of Vulpine Films.

METALLICA's Co-Manager Defends Decision To Join SPOTIFY
Cliff Burnstein, a co-owner of Q Prime, a talent management company that handles the careers of METALLICA and other major acts, spoke toThe New York Times about the reports that the sales of METALLICA's studio albums were negatively impacted by the band's decision to add its catalog to the streaming service Spotify on December 6.
According to Burnstein, as the Spotify subscriber numbers grow, royalty rates will also climb, a process that was previously seen whenever new technologies have been introduced.
"There is a point at which there could be 100 percent cannibalization, and we would make more money through subscriptions services," Burnsteinsaid. "We calculate that point at approximately 20 million worldwide subscribers."
Spotify reportedly reaches 20 million users in 17 countries, with a quarter of those paying subscribers.
Billboard.biz reported in late December that sales were 15% below expectations for METALLICA's studio albums the week the titles were added to Spotify and 35% below expectations the following week.
METALLICA sales had jumped 60% to 61% in the four-week period leading up to Christmas in both 2010 and 2011. In 2012 that four-week increase was just 27.2%.
METALLICA has made all nine of its studio albums, as well as various live material, singles, remixes and collaborations, available on Spotify. The move is significant because Sean Parker, who co-founded Napster, now sits on the board of Spotify. METALLICA waged a battle with Napstermore than a decade ago over the illegal sharing of the band's music, which resulted in both legal action and a battered public image for the band.
At the press conference in New York announcing the Spotify deal on December 6, Parker and METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich appeared together and seemingly buried the hatchet. Ulrich said, "When [Parker] and I saw each other a few months ago. We could see that we had been put down as adversaries. We realize we had much more in common and sitting down was long overdue . . . We were younger, maybe somewhat more ignorant. We sat down and had a heart to heart."
In a statement at its web site, METALLICA said, "We are extremely proud to be a part of Spotify, who not only has a proven track record, but is by far the best streaming service."
METALLICA is now able to make these deals directly since, as of last month, the band has complete control over the master tapes of all its audio and video recordings. The band has also launched its own label,Blackened Recordings.
The first release for the new label was the "Quebec Magnetic" DVD on December 10, which showcases footage from two Quebec City live performances recorded in 2009.

Queens of the Stone Age Working with Mark Lanegan on Upcoming Album
Former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan will be lending his talents to the forthcoming Queens of the Stone Age album.
In a note posted Friday on their Facebook page, QOTSA wrote, “Lanegan came by. He didn't say much, but he sang good. [Guitarist] Troy Van Leeuwen said to [keyboardist]Dean Fertita as overheard by [bassist] Mikey Shoes.”
The collaboration comes as no real surprise -- Lanegan has a long history working with the band, having contributed vocals to 2000’s Rated R, 2002’s Song for the Deaf and 2005’s Lullabies to Paralyze.
In addition to Lanegan, the record will feature guest appearances by Foo Fightersfrontman/former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails,Scissor Sisters vocalist Jake Shears, and former QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri.
Queens of the Stone Age have said that they plan to release the new album sometime in the first half of this year.
Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix Recounts “Tough” Vocal Recovery; Tour with Stone Sour
Last week, Papa Roach kicked off their North American co-headlining tour with Stone Sour. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix says he’s grateful to back on the road now that his voice has healed following last year’s corrective surgery, during which doctors removed a nodule from his left vocal cord.
“I was really nervous after I got the surgery, I couldn’t talk for a few weeks which was tough, but I did the right thing and I followed doctor’s orders and my voice recovered fully,” he tells ABC News Radio. “Obviously some huge lifestyle changes have been an integral part of why my voice is the way it is and it’s staying now.”
Shaddix also gives fans an idea of what they can expect to experience if they make it out to one of their upcoming shows. “We’re doing six songs off The Connection and we’re performing for 75 minutes," he explains. "So fans will get the new stuff, mixed with the cult classics, mixed with the hits. It’s a set that P-Roach fans will love I guarantee it."
Marilyn Manson Sues Woman Claiming to Be His Fiancée
Marilyn Manson has filed a lawsuit against a woman who he says has defamed and harassed him by passing herself off as his fiancée.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Manson filed the complaint Tuesday in Los Angeles against Yolanda Tharpe, a self-described "rock vixen and independent occult horror film maker" who's also known as Seraphim Ward. Manson says Tharpe falsely announced on her website and elsewhere that they were engaged.
The lawsuit states that when Manson demanded she retract her statement, Tharpe suggested that he didn't want to marry her because he is "pro-Nazi" and did "not want to be seen with [African-American] women" such as Tharpe.
Tharpe further claimed that Manson stalked her and that he had killed her cats.
Manson seeks 50 thousand dollars in damages.

"Black Out The Sun" track listing:
01. Memory
02. Faithless
03. Till Death
04. Mountain
05. Cold As War
06. Black Out The Sun
07. Nobody Wants It
08. Dead Roses
09. Decay
10. Dark AM
11. Picture Perfect
12. Got A Feeling
13. Murder Bar
SEVENDUST is planning to film the video for the CD's first single,"Decay", at the end of the month, just before its upcoming tour withLACUNA COIL kicks off on February 2 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose tells Billboard.com that the song actually came from a riff left over from the "Cold Ray Memory" sessions.
"We were starting to get burnt and we didn't want to push it," Roserecalls. "So we had this riff, and we said, 'Let's jam it and see if anything comes of it.' And before you know it, it became a song that ends up on the record, and everybody listens to it and they end up picking that as the single, which was pretty cool."
The song "Murder Bar" was reportedly inspired by a Butler, New Jersey bar across from the hotel where SEVENDUST was staying while recording the new CD. Rumor had it the place was popular with many of New Jersey's murderers.
"It's a basic SEVENDUST record," guitarist Clint Lowery recently told"Source Of The Sound With Wendy Campbell". "There's nothing, like, too completely different than anything we've done before. It's got a darker vibe to it. We've got a good amount of the programming element in there. It's a lot of what we do — it's heavy and it's got its melodic element in it. So if you're a SEVENDUST fan, it's more along the lines of the second and third records we did — it's kind of like that. It's got a couple of throwback vibes to it. 'Animosity' and 'Home' [1999], if I can put those two records together, it would [sound similar to the new CD]."

Watch Soundgarden’s “By Crooked Steps” Video, Directed by Dave Grohl
Soundgarden takes a stand against electronic music in the new video for “By Crooked Steps,” the next single from the band’s first album in over 15 years, King Animal.
The four-minute clip, which was directed by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, features the band as a Segway-driving biker gang out for a night on the town. The guys show up a club and eject a DJ -- who's spinning tracks from his computer -- from the stage so they can perform live music. After the DJ calls the police on the band, the guys make a run for it on their Segways and are quickly arrested by a cop played by electronic DJ Deadmau5.
Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch Says Korn Will Perform “Hard-Hitting, Energetic Classics” at Rock on the Range Festival
As previously reported, former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch will rejoin the band at the upcoming Rock on the Range festival, which takes place May 17-19 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH. Welch says that while a set list for their performance has yet to be created, he has an idea of what the band will play during their concert.
"Obviously, all the hard-hitting, energetic classics, where people lose their mind -- those will definitely be there,” he tells Rolling Stone. “Because those are the funnest ones to play."
In addition to performing with Korn at Rock on the Range, Welch will perform two full concerts with the guys later this year in Germany. Those shows will take place at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals on June 7-9, in the towns of Nürburgring and Nürnberg, respectively.
However, just because Welch has a few dates scheduled, fans shouldn’t expect the guitarist to join the band for a full tour anytime soon. "We're going slow," he notes. "We're hanging out when I've got time…but I'd say anything is possible right now."
Kid Rock Will Headline Harley-Davidson's Anniversary Celebration
Kid Rock will help Harley-Davidson celebrate its 110th anniversary later this year.

Rock praises Harley-Davidson in a statement, saying, "They are the backbone of American culture, the flagship American brand. I am honored and excited to partner with this legendary icon that has helped to define American freedom at home and abroad."
Dave Grohl Cites Sound City Studios' History as Reason for Nirvana's Success
Dave Grohl feels Nirvana owes a debt of gratitude to Sound City Studios’ rich history. The former Nirvana drummer says that he chose to make his Sound City documentary about the legendary studio -- where Grohl and Nirvana recorded the band's landmark 1991 album, Nevermind -- because it was directly responsible for the band’s commercial success.
"There's a story behind every single classic album that was put together behind those doors, and if it wasn't for the people who kept those rooms alive, maybe half of us wouldn't have gone there,” Grohl tells BBC News. “Nowhere else would have allowed Nirvana to make a record which sounded as raw as it did. And without that sound, I don't think I'd be here today."
Grohl adds he hopes that the upcoming film will inspire future generations of musicians. "I don't want kids to be confused and think you have to go to college to study music,” he explains. “You can just go into an old guitar shop, buy the biggest piece of junk and then write a beautiful song and become the biggest band in the world. These things can happen.”
While Sound City recently had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the documentary will be shown in a select number of movie theaters across North America, for one night only on January 31, before being released digitally on February 1. The film’s soundtrack, Sound City -- Real to Reel, will arrive at all the usual outlets on March 12.
Tool Guitarist Adam Jones Engaged
Tool’s Adam Jones is getting hitched. The guitarist proposed to his girlfriend Korin during Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view special. Jones, who’s an avid wrestling fan, popped the question at the event via a giant video screen which read: “Korin, Adam Jones wants to ask you something...Will You Marry Me?” Shortly after the message was displayed, the show’s cameras focused on Jones who dropped down on one knee and handed Korin a diamond engagement ring.
In other Tool news, the band is set to perform at the inaugural Ozzfest Japan, which runs May 11-12 at the Makuhari Messe arena, just outside of Tokyo. Other artists set to perform at the event include Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Slash and Deftones.
Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch Says “It Was Time” to Reunite with Korn for Rock on the Range Festival
Korn fans got some good news on Thursday when the band revealed that they'll be performing with former guitarist Brian "Head" Welch at the upcoming Rock on the Range festival. Welch says that the invitation to join the band at the event took him by surprise.
“It's a bit surreal because I didn't expect it to happen,” he tells ARTISTDirect. “We have no hate for each other like some of these other bands that haven't talked in years. When they hit me up about the shows this year, to me, it was time.”
In addition to performing with Korn at Rock on the Range, which takes place May 17-19 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, Welch will perform two full concerts with the guys later this year in Germany. Those shows will take place at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals on June 7-9, in the towns of Nürburgring and Nürnberg, respectively.

Courtney Love Says Dave Grohl Owes Her "Very Large Sum" of Lost Nirvana Revenue
Courtney Love clearly is still in a fighting mood when it comes to her ongoing dispute with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl over lost Nirvana revenue. The singer claims that the former Nirvana drummer hasn’t been dividing up the band’s profits fairly and that she hasn’t received everything she’s owed.
"The point is, it's about a very large sum of money that they have taken and it's incredibly sophisticated," she tells ABC News. "So the problem with me and Dave is, he is mindlessly rich just from the Foo Fighters? My question is, why does he need all the Nirvana money?" Love adds that she has recently hired a woman named Caroline Egan, who she described as “her banker,” to look into the matter.
In other Love news, the singer recently revealed to Rolling Stone that she's working on new solo material, which Courtney says includes a “really fast rock song” titled “This Is War,” produced by former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha. Love has said that she hopes to release “This Is War” on February 7.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed that he has more performances in store for his Sound City Players, a band comprised of some of the artists who appear in hisSound City documentary.
"We plan to do shows all over the world," he tells Billboard. "When I came up with the idea of taking all these performers to the live stage a few months ago, my idea [was] to have video presentations between each performance. We'll have that at the next shows."
The Sound City Players performed their first concert last week during the Sundance Film Festival, and have a second concert scheduled for January 31 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. That's the same day that Sound City will hit 44 movie theaters across North America for a special, one-night-only screening.

Buckcherry to Make Movie Based on Upcoming Album,Confessions
Buckcherry has a new movie headed our way. Guitarist Keith Nelson says that during the songwriting process for the band's upcoming album, Confessions, frontman Josh Toddwrote a screenplay which Buckcherry is now planning on making into a film.
“Josh started to write the screenplay, which started to dictate where he was going lyrically [on Confessions],” he tells Lithium Magazine. “Now we have a record that stands on its own and a phenomenal screenplay, but they don't need each other to actually work.”
Nelson adds that while the film has yet to be produced, it is expected to have a running time of “under an hour.” “We still haven't shot it yet, but we've got so many things in place to do it,” he explains. “We're just waiting on the final business things to get in line so we can complete it.”
Confessions, which arrives in stores on February 19, includes 13 tracks and features a central theme focused on the seven deadly sins: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. Buckcherry has said that they’ll be previewing songs from the new album on their upcoming tour dates with Kid Rock and Hellbound Glory. That outing kicks off on February 2 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO.
Stone Sour's Corey Taylor Says House of Gold and BonesComic Series Will Help Him Create Scripts for Film Adaptations
In April, Stone Sour will release the second installment of their concept double album,House of Gold and Bones, as well as the first issue of a comic book series based on the record. Frontman Corey Taylor says that creating the comics is essential so that he can begin work on his next project: turning the album into two feature-length films.
“The lyrics [on House of Gold and Bones] basically ghost in and out of the narrative for the short story that I wrote that’s included in each disc,” he tells The Aquarian Weekly. “The comic books are actually an adaptation of that short story. Once [the comic] comes together, I’ll be able develop the [movie] scripts and bring everything together.”
While House of Gold and Bones Part 2 doesn’t have a firm release date yet, the first issue of the House of Gold and Bones comic book mini-series will be available on April 17.
Skillet Goes Platinum with Awake; Promises “Powerful Anthems” on Upcoming Album
Skillet has something in common with Mumford & Sons and The Black Keys. The group has become the third rock band to receive a platinum certification in 2012, in this case for their latest album, Awake, which has sold more than one million copies since its release in 2009.
The band is currently in the studio working on their ninth studio album, which is expected to be released sometime this spring. "Musically, this record feels like a roller coaster ride,” said frontman/bassist John Cooper in a statement. “Several tracks are aggressive with dirtier and edgier guitars. There are some powerful anthems and the ‘signature Skillet’ songs our fans tend to love: symphonic, classical rock duets."

Need more proof that the Foo Fighters aren’t breaking up? Frontman Dave Grohl says that he’s already written new material for the Foos next album and will begin recording with the band once he’s done promoting his new documentary, Sound City.
"I have the music for the next [Foo Fighters] record and we're going to start working on it once we finish doing all this [Sound City] stuff,” he tells MTV News in a video interview."We have really awesome, big plans for the next album…I'm really excited about it."
Every member of the Foos is involved with Grohl’s Sound City Players, a band comprised of some of the artists who appear in Sound City. Your next opportunity to see the band in action as part of the Sound City Players will be on January 31 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. That's the same day that Sound City hits 44 movie theaters across North America for a special, one-night-only screening.
The Black Keys Sue Casino Operator for Copyright Infringement
After settling lawsuits against Home Depot and Pizza Hut, in which they accused the companies of using the band's songs in commercials without permission, The Black Keyshave now sued another company for allegedly doing the same thing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the band recently filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York accusing casino operator Pinnacle Entertainment of using music in two of its TV commercials that is "substantially similar" to the Black Keys hit “Howlin’ for You,” from the 2010 album Brothers.
In addition, The Keys claim that a casino rep tweeted that the music used in the ads was a “licensed musical interpretation,” so now the band is suing both Pinnacle and the production company that created the alleged sound-alike, for violating trademark law by “suggesting a false designation of origin as well as making unfair competition for them.”
DAVE GROHL And COREY TAYLOR Share Memories Of SOUND CITY
According to The Pulse Of Radio, FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohland STONE SOUR/SLIPKNOT vocalist Corey Taylor spoke with CBS Localabout Sound City studios, the now-closed recording facility that is the subject of Grohl's debut as a feature documentary director, "Sound City: Real To Reel". Grohl was inspired to make the film after the studio closed and he bought its famous Neve analog recording board for his own home studio. SLIPKNOT recorded its 2001 "Iowa" album on that board, withTaylor saying, "The thing about that Neve board is that it has such a personality. No two albums sound the same coming out of that board because of the different love that you put into it, the different variables."
Grohl, who was with NIRVANA for the recording of its 1991 milestone"Nevermind" at Sound City, recalled, "Had we recorded that record in a different way, the music wouldn't have sounded the same. And if it didn't sound the same, it might not have had the same impact."
Grohl told The Pulse Of Radio a while back why he preferred recording in analog instead of using more modern digital equipment. "Definitely recording with analog 24-track equipment, you get a lot more personality and imperfection. Digital recording, you have the option to make things perfect and you can manipulate them and sometimes you just suck the human element out of it. But with tape, once you hit 'record,' it really is what it is."
Sound City was also known for the superb acoustics of its recording room as well as the sheer number of classic albums created there, including discs from Tom Petty, Neil Young, FLEETWOOD MAC, NINE INCH NAILS, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, METALLICA and many others.
Grohl interviewed more than 40 musicians for his film, which premiered this past Friday (January 18) at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
The event also featured the debut of the SOUND CITY PLAYERS, an ensemble featuring a number of the musicians from the film. Grohlorchestrated a series of collaborations on new songs that appear on the movie's soundtrack.
Two of those songs have already been unveiled: "Cut Me Some Slack", featuring the surviving members of NIRVANA and Paul McCartney, and"From Can To Can't", which features Grohl, Taylor and CHEAP TRICKguitarist Rick Nielsen.
The SOUND CITY PLAYERS will perform at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on January 31, the same night that the movie premieres at that city's Cinerama Dome and in 44 other cities around the U.S. Like theSundance gig, the L.A. show will feature Grohl, members of NIRVANAand FOO FIGHTERS, Taylor, Nielsen, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield and more.
A review of "Sound City" from its premiere screening on Friday, published at Billboard.com, said that the movie was a "must-see film for anyone who cares about recording techniques, equipment and studios. Dave Grohl's ode to a shabby studio in the San Fernando Valley is detailed and loving in its exposition and final chapter of resolution."
KORN Meets With Sick Fan Through Make-A-Wish Foundation
According to The Pulse Of Radio, KORN made a sick fan's dream come true when the members of the band met with him last October, and now the fan has posted a video journal of that experience online (see below).KORN agreed to meet with a fan named Tyler Sims after receiving a request from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Sims suffers from lupus, an auto-immune disease that leads to excruciating arthritic pain and other physical ailments.
Sims, who says he's always wanted to meet the group, traveled to Phoenix with his family to connect with them at a concert there. In his video, he describes being picked up in a limo and driven to the venue, where he got to watch from the side of the stage as the band went through their soundcheck. Sims then meets each band member, finally sitting down with singer Jonathan Davis to share stories about themselves.
Davis told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that ever since the group's earliest days, KORN's first and foremost priority has always been its fans. "We've always been a band about our fans, even when we first started out, when we playing clubs," he said. "I miss it so much. We'd play a gig, and we'd go out there and we'd hang out with the fans. We used to go to their houses, have barbecues, have parties, do all that stuff. Once the band got bigger, we weren't able to do that, so we're just continually trying to have that relationship with the fans."
Sims says in his video that Davis "really connected with me kind of deep. It felt good that they actually cared." He adds, "I've been a KORN fan since I was 10 years old. As I got older, I really connected with all the lyrics and I mean every song means something to me. It says something to me and it really gets me through a lot of the rough times I go through."
KORN spent much of 2012 on tour behind its 10th studio album, "The Path Of Totality", but plans to begin work on a new set of material early this year.
The group will reunite with founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch for several festival shows next summer, with Welch playing full shows with the band for the first time since 2004.

AWOLNATION's Aaron Bruno Says Scrapped "Knight of Shame" Video Was "Too Real and Too Negative"
Back in April of last year, AWOLNATIONposted a trailer for the video for their 12-minute song, “Knights of Shame,” which featured scenes of a group of young people in a dangerous, apocalyptic world. Frontman Aaron Bruno says he has decided not to release the video because the short film’s message isn’t exactly what the singer had in mind.
“The concept to me, originally, was supposed to go down one path and it ended up going down a slightly different path than I had anticipated and it ended up being just too real and too negative for me to want to release it,” he tells ABC News Radio. “So, unfortunately, it’s never gonna be seen.”
Bruno adds that the final cut of the video turned out to be much darker than he expected it would be. “Most people would have probably released it but I’m very, very protective of what goes out,” he explains. “I just didn’t want to mislead anyone to my opinions or feed anyone too much reality, I guess, because music to me is supposed to help you escape the reality of today and how crazy it can be.”
AWOLNATION is currently on tour overseas, but they’ll return to kick off a North American tour on March 8 at Wild West in Lubbock, TX. Blondfire and Mother Mother will support the band on select dates.
Chris Cornell Says There’s “Nothing Stopping” Soundgarden from Making More Albums
Frontman Chris Cornell says that Soundgarden is enjoying their reunion and that the band may continue on after they’re done supporting their first album in 16 years, King Animal.
"I think the overall attitude about keeping it going and the way we want to treat it to keep it going is really good,” he tells Billboard.com. “There's nothing stopping us from continuing to make records and continuing to play shows, that's for sure."
While Cornell adds that “every time we're in a room we're coming up with something new,” fans shouldn't expect to get a new album from the band anytime soon.
"We had a good experience making [King Animal], and since we've come back together everything has been kind of that way,” Cornell explains. “Our attitude is that we're doing this because we love it and because it matters to us and not for any other reason, and everything else kind of takes care of itself."
Green Day Releases Trailer for ¡Quatro!, Schedules Screening with Q&A Session at X Games
Green Day has unveiled the trailer for their documentary, ¡Quatro!, which offers an inside look at what the band went through while making their album trilogy, ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! The three-minute clip features behind-the-scenes footage of the band in the studio as well as a number of the band’s live performances.
The band has recently announced that the film will we be screened on Saturday at the X Games in Aspen, Colorado and that the guys will be on hand for a Q&A session immediately after. Fans are encouraged to leave questions for the band on their website.
Bassist Mike Dirnt says that the film reveals a side of the band that fans have never seen before. “We've been a closed book for a long time,” he tells XGames.com. “A lot of our fans, even as much as they know us, they don't really know us. But we always needed a certain ‘church and state’ [separation] as far as our private lives go.”
After canceling a batch of 2012 tour dates and postponing dates in January and February, Green Day will head out on tour in March to promote their recently-release album trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! That outing kicks off on March 28 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL. Visit GreenDay.com to view the full itinerary.

Former THREE DAYS GRACE Singer Talks Going Solo In New Video Interview
Former THREE DAYS GRACE singer Adam Gontier was interviewed by Artisan News last Thursday (January 17) at "Rock For Recovery", a benefit for victims of Hurricane Sandy at Gramercy Theater in New York City. Check out the chat in two parts below.
Gontier last week spoke to The Pulse Of Radio about his reasons for leaving the band he co-founded after 20 years together. The original announcement by the band and his follow-up statement seemed to have conflicting views regarding Gontier's health and his motivations, so The Pulse Of Radio asked him why he made this move now. "For me, I think the thing that broke the camel's back was, I had enough of the money coming before the music," he said. "It's not perfect timing, but it had to be done, you know. For the sake of my own mental health and well-being, I had to do it."
Gontier elaborated on what went wrong for him after playing in THREE DAYS GRACE for two decades. "You know, the music really wasn't coming from the heart," he said. "I can say that on the record 'Transit Of Venus', there's maybe one or two songs that actually do come from my heart, but a lot of songs have been written just for radio and for fans, you know, to relate to. Quite a bit of it just adds up to the fakeness of the whole industry and how you're writing hits for other people and not yourself — and that's really what the band was, has been all about."
THREE DAYS GRACE announced Gontier's departure from the group earlier this week, although he officially resigned on December 21.
The band claims that he told them he was leaving through a letter from his lawyer, with no personal discussion or contact between Gontier and his bandmates.
THREE DAYS GRACE will appear as planned on a co-headlining tour withSHINEDOWN that starts on February 1, with Matt Walst of MY DARKEST DAYS filling in on vocals. The group will announce its future plans after the tour.
The tour is in support of the band's fourth album, "Transit Of Venus", which includes the No. 1 rock radio hit "Chalk Outline".
Gontier plans to begin work on a solo album in the near future.
CHRIS CORNELL On Possibility Of More SOUNDGARDEN Music: 'I Don't See Any Reason Why Not'
Even though it's only been two months since reunited grunge legends SOUNDGARDEN released their "comeback" album, "King Animal", the band's guitarist/vocalist Chris Cornell tells Billboard.com that he is looking forward to making more music in the future.
"I don't see any reason why not," Cornell says. "I think the overall attitude about keeping it going and the way we want to treat it to keep it going is really good. There's nothing stopping us from continuing to make records and continuing to play shows, that's for sure."
"We had a good experience making ['King Animal']," he adds, "and since we've come back together everything has been kind of that way. There hasn't really been any of the tension, specifically surrounding peripheral stuff. And I think that's a simple as us making the conscious decision to not be influenced by anything other than what the four of us want to do and not putting a business version of a timeline on it. Our attitude is that we're doing this because we love it and because it matters to us and not for any other reason, and everything else kind of takes care of itself."
SOUNDGARDEN tapped FOO FIGHTERS frontman and documentary director Dave Grohl to get behind the camera on December 18 and shoot the band's new video for its song "By Crooked Steps". The track is taken from SOUNDGARDEN's first album in 16 years, "King Animal", which came out in November and sold 83,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at No. 5 on the Billboard album chart.
SOUNDGARDEN reunited in 2010 after a 13-year break, releasing a retrospective collection called "Telephantasm" and a concert album titled "Live On I-5".
The band kicked off a winter North American tour on January 18 in Washington D.C. The trek is scheduled to wrap February 17 in Los Angeles.
Video: COHEED AND CAMBRIA Performs 'Dark Side Of Me' On 'Conan'
New York progressive rockers COHEED AND CAMBRIA performed the song"Dark Side Of Me" live on last night's (Monday, January 21) episode ofConan O'Brien's nighttime talk show on TBS, "Conan". You can now watch video footage of their appearance below.
COHEED AND CAMBRIA's latest album, "The Afterman: Ascension", sold 49,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"The Afterman" is being released in two separate full-length volumes. The first volume, "The Afterman: Ascension", was made available on both physical and digital platforms in the U.S. on October 9, 2012 viaHundred Handed/Everything Evil, and distributed throughFontana/Ingrooves (available in Canada via Universal Music Canada). The second volume, "The Afterman: Descension", is due in February.
A deluxe version of "The Afterman" includes a hardcover coffee-table book with expansive art by Heidi Taillefer and Nathan Spoor with collaborative written work from singer/creator Claudio Sanchez and writerPeter David that creates a song-by-song experience.
The two records follow-up to 2010's "Year Of The Black Rainbow", and feature new bassist Zach Cooper and returning drummer Josh Eppard, who have replaced Michael Todd and Chris Pennie, respectively.
COHEED AND CAMBRIA frontman Claudio Sanchez said of the album: "This is, without a doubt, the most honest record I've ever written. Though all the songs can be interpreted through our main character in the story, they were initially written in a very spontaneous manner. In the past, I've always had a predetermined idea of what the story was going to be when I approached the songs. With 'The Afterman' being a new story within 'The Amory Wars' arc, I allowed the events of my life to drive the concept, and therefore opened up the songwriting to a fuller degree."

Dave Grohl Says Nirvana Owes Debt to Sound City Studios Recording Console
Back in 1991, Nirvana recorded their breakout album, Nevermind, at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl says that he believes Sound City Studios’ analog recording console, the Neve 8028, is directly responsible for the album’s success.
"I consider that board to be responsible for the person I am today," Grohl tells the Los Angeles Times. "Had it not been for that board, who knows what Nevermind would've sounded like. And who knows if anyone would ever have heard of Nirvana."
The Neve board, which Grohl now owns, was the inspiration behind creating his documentary Sound City, which profiles the legendary studio and all of the iconic albums that have been recorded there over the years. "I wanted to talk about the human element in music," he explains. "I wanted to talk about technology and how it's impacted the way we make music and the studio industry.”
While Sound City recently had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the documentary will be shown in a select number of movie theaters across North America -- for one night only -- on January 31, before being released digitally on February 1. The film’s soundtrack, Sound City -- Real to Reel, will arrive at all the usual outlets on March 12.
Former THREE DAYS GRACE Singer: 'The Music Really Wasn't Coming From The Heart'
According to The Pulse Of Radio, former THREE DAYS GRACE singer Adam Gontier has spoken out about his reasons for leaving the band he co-founded after 20 years together. The original announcement by the band and his follow-up statement seemed to have conflicting views regarding Gontier's health and his motivations, so The Pulse Of Radioasked him why he made this move now.
Gontier played a benefit show in New York City on Thursday night (January 17) and plans to begin work on a solo album in the near future.

STONE SOUR Drummer On His Stroke: ' I Couldn't Walk, I Couldn't Really Move My Left Side'
STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga recently spoke to The Morning Callabout his 2011 stroke and his recovery, which lasted nearly a year.
"It was pretty scary," he said. "I couldn't walk, I couldn't really move my left side really well. It was horrible. I basically was not playing or doing anything music [related] for a good seven, eight months. And then I got better, I got off the meds, and got the confidence again to play drums and got behind the kit and then started recording [the] new [STONE SOUR] album … Almost two years later, I'm pretty much back to normal, and it's a miracle, man, I gotta say. I thank God and the universe and lucky stars I'm still here today. I'm just glad that's over with and I'm able to still walk and play drums and still be here with my family."
Mayorga praised his bandmates, who canceled the rest of their tour and waited for him to get better.
"That's incredible," he said. "I mean, that's a lot to be said for them. Those guys are truly my brothers, for them to do something like that. … Most bands would have gotten somebody else to play drums. But they didn't."
Roy also spoke about the departure of STONE SOUR bassist Shawn Economaki, who left the band just a month before Mayorga's stroke. "That was pretty sudden — he basically wanted just to settle and just do his thing and not tour as much," Mayorga said. "He wanted to do more sound engineering and more studio work. I think, actually, he's working on building a recording studio in Des Moines right now."
METALLICA To Perform Entire 'Black' Album At Australia's SOUNDWAVE Festival?
According to Australia's KillYourStereo.com, Soundwave festival promoterAJ Maddah has confirmed that METALLICA will play a two-hour set at this year's event, complete with the "Snakepit" rig, all but confirming that the band's setlist will include the entirety of METALLICA's 1991 self-titled effort.
The last time this rig was used was during METALLICA's 2012 European tour where the LP was played backwards, starting with closing number"The Struggle Within" and ending with "Enter Sandman".
Asked whose idea it was for METALLICA to play the "black" album in reverse on the most recent tour, the band's drummer, Lars Ulrich, toldRolling Stone magazine, "If you like the idea, it was mine. If you don't, it was James' [Hetfield, guitar/vocals]. For better or worse, I'm the setlist guy. This is all subject to change if it doesn't work. But the idea of starting off with the lesser-known songs buried down there and ending up with 'Sad But True' and 'Enter Sandman' seems like a winner. You finish with the money shot, which is the first song."
"Metallica" in 2009 surpassed SHANIA TWAIN's 1997 record, "Come On Over", as the best-selling CD of the SoundScan era. To date, the black album has sold more than 16 million copies in the United States.
Although METALLICA had scored their first radio and video airplay with their previous effort, 1988's "...And Justice For All", the black album was the band's biggest commercial breakthrough, producing five singles and making them into one of the most popular rock bands in the world.

Hollywood Undead Says Band Had “Complete Creative Freedom” While Making Notes from the Underground
Hollywood Undead scored the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart last week with their highest-charting album ever, Notes from the Underground. Guitarist Jordon “Charlie Scene” Terrell says that the album’s success is partly due to the fact that the group didn’t have to answer to anyone while making the record.
“A lot of bands run into that problem where record labels kind of tell them what to do or what kind of music they should write,” Terrell tells ABC News Radio. “On this record they didn’t say anything, they left us alone. We had complete creative freedom so that’s a lot of fun for us.”
Terrell adds that the band has a few tracks left over from the Notes sessions which may be released sometime in the near future. “When you’re trying to pick 11 songs, everyone has a different opinion on what should go on the record,” he explains. “We try to be fair with it and try to figure out what’s best for this record at the time. So we have like, five songs left over or something, so we’ll probably put those on an EP along with maybe some other new ones we’ll record.”

Listen to Anthrax’s Cover of Rush’s “Anthem” fromAnthems EP
Anthrax is giving us a taste of Anthems, an upcoming EP that features interpretations of classic rock songs from their favorite groups of the 1970s. Drummer Charlie Benantesays that Anthrax's cover of Rush’s “Anthem,” which is currently streaming atRollingStone.com, pays tribute to the Canadian prog-rock trio, who are one of his earliest musical influences.
"When I was first learning to play drums, I would strap on my headphones, play along with [Rush's 1976 live album All the World's a Stage] and be transformed," he tells Rolling Stone. "I don't [know] if you would hear anything that sounds like Rush in Anthrax's music, but the passion, the drive, the musicianship and the appreciation is all there." Anthems will arrive in stores on March 19. Here's the track list:
David Draiman Talks “Stepping Away” from Disturbed; “Darkness and Heaviness” of Device’s Debut Album
Frontman David Draiman says that it was necessary for Disturbed to go on an indefinite hiatus in order for him to work on new projects and grow as an artist.
“I think that the hiatus was more about us stepping away from something that basically encompassed our entire lives for 16 years and letting it breathe for a while, letting it sleep,” he tells RevolverMagazine in a video interview. Draiman adds that the upcoming debut album of Device -- his new side project with former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo -- will be “free of the confines of what Disturbed had to be” with “no limitations or preconceived notions.”
Draiman notes that Distubred fans will enjoy Device’s debut album, despite the fact that he explores new creative avenues on the upcoming release. “Even though there’s definite darkness and heaviness on this record that will make the average Disturbed fan salivate like the Pavlovian dog…I think that I’ve gone places and the music goes places on this record that Disturbed has never gone,” he explains.
Device’s self-titled debut album will arrive at all the usual outlets on April 9. We’ll get our first taste of the new music when the album’s first single, “Vilify,” arrives at radio on February 19.

"I'm happy to say that based on the demos I've heard, this new album could very well be their best to date,” adds Wind-up Records President Ed Vetri. “Filter is more committed than ever to delivering great repertoire and bringing these songs to life at their live shows throughout 2013.”

David Draiman Says Device’s Debut Album Will Feature “Futuristic Rock”
Singer David Draiman says that fans shouldn’t expect the music of Device -- his new side project with former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo -- to sound anything like his work with Disturbed.
"It's not metal,” said Draiman in a statement. "It's influenced by early Industrial rock (i.e.Nine Inch Nails/Ministry) and has a dark electronic vibe. At the same time, these are big, anthemic, and intensely melodic songs. It's futuristic rock."
Last week, Draiman announced that the band’s upcoming debut album will include appearances by Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows, System of a Down singerSerj Tankian, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Halestorm frontwomanLzzy Hale, Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler and former Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes.

Coheed and Cambria has released a lyric video for their new single, "Dark Side of Me," which is included on the second installment of their Afterman concept album, The Afterman: Descension. Shortly after their appearance, the band will embark on the next leg of their North American tour. That outing begins on February 4 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Green Day Bassist Mike Dirnt Pays Tribute to Late Birth Mother, Carol Alba Rowland
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt is mourning the loss of his birth mother, Carol Alba Rowland. Dirnt posted a message on the band’s website to pay tribute to Rowland, who he had met only recently.
"As many of you know I was adopted,” wrote the bassist. “Over the last ten years I have sought [Rowland] out with the help of a good friend, only to meet her one month before her passing!”
Dirnt notes that meeting with Rowland was “surreal,” and that he was grateful to have spent some time getting to know her before she passed. “We were able to share a cup of coffee, a cigarette and some smiles,” he added. “She was a beautiful woman with a huge smile a hot temper and a kind heart. I will miss her as I did before, only now with some memories and a picture to go with the place in my heart! Love you mom!!!"

RANDY BLYTHE Is 'Getting Ready Mentally' To Return To Prague To Stand Trial
LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe will stand trial February 4 on charges of manslaughter in the death of a fan at a Prague, Czech Republic concert two years ago.
The court originally had three months to set a trial date after announcing on December 3 that Blythe was officially indicted on manslaughter charges.
Writing on his Instagram account, Blythe said earlier today (Sunday, January 13): "The last two or three days I have been getting ready mentally to leave my home and return to Prague to do this whole trial thing in early February. It's not something I particularly WANT to do; but inside, my gut and heart tells me it is the RIGHT thing to do. I cannot turn my back on the right thing."
Blythe is facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a 2010 incident in which a fan attending a LAMB OF GOD show died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage. Blythe's predicament has galvanized the heavy rock community, with artists across the hard rock genre pledging their support.
Shortly after being released from the Pankrác prison in Prague in early August, Blythe sat down with Mark Holmberg of WTVR-TV — the CBStelevision affiliate based in Richmond, Virginia — to discuss his 37-day stay at the notorious Czech Republic penitentiary (see video below).
Asked about his vow to go back to Prague if there is a trial, Randy said, "I feel ethically responsible to go back there and face this charge. [The victim's] family right now is in a lot of pain, and they deserve some answers. To lose a child is the worst possible thing a human can go through, I think .. I want my name cleared. I have to go around the world and tour, you know. That's what I do. I'm not going to hide here. I'm an innocent man. I'm going to go to court and see what happens."
Regarding what the "worst-case scenario" is if he returns to Prague for a trial, Blythe told Metal Hammer magazine, "Ten years with no time off for good behavior. For my particular charge — we're saying manslaughter, but it's assault in the fourth degree with intent, resulting in the death of this young man — the sentence for that is five to 10 years with no time off. So the worst-case scenario is that get out when I'm 51, 52 years old. It's not something I really try to dwell on too much, because it's scary. I don't want to go to prison, I don't want that to happen, but the fact of the matter is it could happen. I will deal with it as it comes, that's all! can do. If you have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you're pissing on the present. And right now, all! have is the present so I prepare myself the best I can. My band is behind me and my family's behind me and we're gonna do our best to prove my innocence. But worrying about a nebulous uncertain future, or being super-bummed out that l went to prison for 37 days does me no good."
LAMB OF GOD's manager, Larry Mazer, confirmed in a statement last month that Blythe will defend himself in the case. "We believe that Randyresponded professionally to the numerous amount of fans rushing the stage that day, a number of them captured on videos that have been posted on the Internet," Mazer said. "We have testimony from the venue operator that acknowledges lax security and an improper barricade being used that evening. Numerous testimonies from fans also were contradictory as to the actions of the multiple fans that tried to access the stage."
DAVE MUSTAINE: 'I Really Am Trying To Live My Life Differently Today'
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message on the band's Facebook page:
"I just wanted to take this time on a peaceful Sunday to stop and thank you for your tremendous support. I know not everyone here is a fan, but that's OK too; this message will be waiting for you when you change your opinion of me/us. Until then, I want to sincerely thank those of you for something you have no idea that you've done, but that is really a righteous and unbelievable thing to do. You see, all faults aside, I really am trying to live my life differently today, and part of that was in finding something to believe in.
"One of the things that has happened since I started this transformation is getting involved with helping widows and orphans, and helping the homeless. Now, here's what you've done...
"I was approached with an opportunity, and thanks to your unwavering support, my family and I have been able to fund a soup kitchen in Haiti with a ministry called Outside The Bowl, and you will be proud to know that when it is started (which will be very soon), we will be feeding up to 8,000 meals a day to the less fortunate.
"I am so very grateful, and I love you all so very much (yes, even you haters), because even when I am being vilified and having my character assassinated, I can find comfort knowing up to 8,000 meals will be served each day, along with a healthy serving of love and some spiritual nourishment as well.
"Again, I cannot thank you enough.
"Love and bruises…"

Trent Reznor Named Chief Creative Officer for Daisy Streaming Music Service
Trent Reznor is expanding his resume. The Nine Inch Nails frontman has just been named chief creative officer of Daisy, a new music streaming service he created with rapper Dr. Dre’s company, Beats by Dre. Interscope Records chairman and Beats Electronic co-founder Jimmy Iovine revealed Reznor’s new title during a conference call with reporters on Thursday, according to SPIN.
"What's missing from the digital music landscape is a cultural context," said Iovine. "We need to bring an emotional connection back to the act of music discovery. With Trent [Reznor] and now [Daisy CEO Ian Rogers] we have the right team in place to do it."
Last month, Reznor told The New Yorker that Daisy’s service will include a form of “intelligent curation” that “uses mathematics to offer suggestions to the listener...[but also] would present choices based partly on suggestions made by connoisseurs, making it a platform in which the machine and the human would collide more intimately."
While an exact release date for Daisy has yet to be announced, the music streaming service is expected to launch sometime later this year.
Sevendust Says Hiatus Helped Creative Process for Black Out the Sun; Offers Preview of “Decay”
Drummer Morgan Rose says that Sevendust’s recent year-long hiatus helped the creative process for the group’s forthcoming ninth studio album, Black Out the Sun, due in stores on March 26.
"It was a good break for us," Rose tells Billboard. "We liked being around each other again. We appreciated each other and each other's talent. I think it helped in every aspect -- in the writing as well."
To give fans a taste of Black Out the Sun, Sevendust has posted a stream of the album’s first single, “Decay,” on Billboard.com. Rose reveals that the track was created from material left over from the sessions from their previous album, 2010’s Cold Day Memory.
"We had this riff, and we said, 'Let's jam it and see if anything comes of it'," he explains. "And before you know it, it became a song that ends up on the record, and everybody listens to it and they end up picking that as the single, which was pretty cool."
Rose adds that the band expects to begin filming a video for “Decay” sometime this month, before they kick off their tour on February 2 at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem, N.C.Lacuna Coil will support the band on all dates. Visit Sevendust.com to view the full itinerary.

Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor Says Comics Are Best Way to Showcase House of Gold and Bones Storyline
Stone Sour fans will soon get their hands on the first issue of the band’s comic book mini-series based on their concept double album, House of Gold and Bones. FrontmanCorey Taylor says he chose to create the four-issue mini-series because he felt comics would be the perfect medium to showcase the album’s storyline.
“In music, you only really get the emotion of the singer or the music, which makes it hard if you're trying to convey the emotion in a scene,” he tells Comic Book Resources. “With comics, you get that snapshot of emotion: the looks on the faces, the color of the sky, the veins in people's necks, but you don't get the fluid feel of being in the moment, like film or music.”
Taylor adds that he’s still hoping to bring the House of Gold and Bones saga to the silver screen sometime in the near future. “My ultimate goal for these albums is two full-length movies,” he explains. “The music and the story are there, the comics will bring that extra dimension and really give this tale the legs it needs."
The first issue of the House of Gold and Bones comic book series will be available on April 17.

Video: SLIPKNOT's CLOWN Talks About His Collaboration With HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD
"We Are", the new video from HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD, made its online debut last month. The clip was directed by M. Shawn Crahan (a.k.a.SLIPKNOT's Clown). Clown has been an acclaimed director for years working in the field of music video, delivering clips for his own bandSLIPKNOT throughout their multi-platinum Grammy-winning career.Crahan also directed SLIPKNOT's 2005 DVD, "Voliminal: Inside The Nine".
An exclusiveRevolver premiere of the "We Are" video, complete with commentary by Crahan, can be seen below.
HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD recently released "We Are" to rock radio. The track reunites the band with producer Danny Lohner (NINE INCH NAILS,PUSCIFER), and delivers an epic call-to-arms laced with gnashing guitars, lyrical jabs and fiery beats. Selecting the track as the lead entry on the weekly playlist, USA Today stated, "The horror-loving rap-rock outfitHOLLYWOOD UNDEAD previews January's 'Notes From the Underground' with 'We Are', an anthem for disenfranchised youth. A brutally captivating chorus wraps desolation and desperation into the lyrics 'We are made from broken parts ... we are broken from the start'. It's self-destructive and cathartic." Band member Johnny 3 Tears elaborates, "The song is about collective resistance. It's the silent majority, but we're using Los Angeles as the backdrop. Every time we work with Danny, he takes our music to the next level. Think of it as an ode to our misled youth."
"We Are" is the lead single from HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD's new album,"Notes From The Underground", The CD title is a homage to theFyodor Dostoyevsky novel — a Johnny 3 Tears personal favorite — and the moniker alludes to what's really under the mask. He elaborates, "We've maintained an underground identity. When we write songs, we're coming from a place people don't like to look at or talk about openly. As people get older, they get used to lying. We have a bond with so many kids because they appreciate that honesty. They don't know how bad some things get yet. We tell them the truth."
While the band's roots are in the underground, the band has drawn mainstream attention since the release of their 2008 near platinum-selling debut "Swan Songs" and its acclaimed 2010 follow-up "American Tragedy". "Swan Songs" has moved well over 900,000 copies, and "American Tragedy" debuted on The Billboard 200 at #4 with first-week sales exceeding 67,000. They've played sold out headline shows all over the world as well as rousing appearances at festivals such as the Rock On The Range, Epicenter and U.K.'s Download festival.
The masked Los Angeles collective — Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, Charlie Scene, Danny, Funny Man, and Da Kurlzz — are excited about the release of their third album on January 8. "Nothing could change us or our music," assures J-Dog. "We may change the method but not the message."
"Notes From The Underground" was produced by Griffin Boice, Sam & Sluggo and Danny Lohner.
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: Details Of 'Unblackened' DVD Shoot Revealed
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's long-talked-about "Unblackened" DVD, which was previously scheduled to be filmed in late August at The Mayan in Los Angeles, California, and was then pushed back to January, will now be shot on Wednesday, March 6 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles at 8:00 p.m. The set is expected to contain intimate versions of some of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's most popular songs, as well as songs from mainman Zakk Wylde's solo album "Book Of Shadows" and his Southern rock bandPRIDE & GLORY. The show will feature Wylde on guitar and piano, alongside the members of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, as well as a four-piece string section, pedal steel, and special guests. The concert will be broadcast live exclusively on AXS TV. A CD/DVD will be released later this year.
"This is something we haven't done yet, and we wanted to give our fans something new," said Wylde. "You can take a song that you've played thousands of times and rearrange it, and all of a sudden it's something totally fresh. The attitude of the songs doesn't change when we play them acoustically — the tunes are gritty regardless."
"We're gonna do the whole thing with a four-piece string section, a pedal steel guy, and I'm gonna have some of my musician buddies sit in on some of the songs and stuff like that," Wylde said a few months ago. "We're gonna have two solid weeks of rehearsal and then we're gonna knock this thing out. [It will be an] acoustic/electric type of thing. Kinda like how the Christmas record is or like how we did 'The Song Remains Not The Same'where you've got an acoustic and then you can put a rippin' solo something. So I'll still have the Marshalls going with the acoustic stuff. It'd be almost kinda like if PINK FLOYD was doing an unplugged thing and they did 'Comfortably Numb' but Dave [Gilmour] will be sitting down but he'll still rip that solo out. It'll still be electric and then we’ll have the string section behind it and the whole band and it'll be killer."
Tickets for the "Unblackened" filming will go on sale on Friday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. from GoldenVoice.com.
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's "The Song Remains Not The Same" sold around 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 41 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on May 10, 2011 via Entertainment One Music, the offering featured unplugged versions of material from BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's latest album, "Order Of The Black", as well as additional material recorded during the "Order Of The Black" sessions. "The Song Remains Not The Same" was conceived, created and compiled by Wylde himself and the title is, of course, a nod to one of Wylde's favorite bands, LED ZEPPELIN.
"Order Of The Black" was released in North America in August 2010 viaE1 Music. The CD featured four unique covers designed by Zakk Wyldehimself — one for each territory: North America, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand.
VINNIE PAUL To Guest On 'Pawn Stars'
HELLYEAH/ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott will appear on an upcoming episode of History channel's popular "Pawn Stars" show, which follows the staff of a Las Vegas "upper market" pawn store the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop. The episode in question will see Corey "Big Hoss" Harrison (pictured below with Vinnie), part owner of Gold & Silver Pawnand one of the stars of "Pawn Stars", buying Vinnie's recreational vehicle (RV). An air date for the episode has not yet been announced.
"Pawn Stars" is in its sixth season and receives the highest ratings in the reality TV division.
In a July 2010 interview on Detroit, Michigan's WRIF 101.1 FM radio station, Vinnie stated about his unusual habit of putting strange personal items up for sale on eBay, "Let me tell you something... If you're anybody — not just me, but anybody — and you can put an oven that doesn't work at all on eBay and sign your name on it and sell it for 1200 bucks and somebody will drive from Seattle to Dallas, Texas to get it, that's pretty cool.
"I found a cell phone that was a Motorola cell phone — back in the day it was the size of a walkie-talkie...
"I've got this dude named Videobob that's kind of always dreaming things up. He goes, 'Let's put that thing on eBay.' I sold that thing for six hundred dollars.
"It's not about the money — it's not like I can't afford to buy my own coffin when it's time to go, you know, but it's about the 'nut' factor.
"I've got something else I'm about to put on there, too. Well, I've got two things — I've got one barbecue grill I'm about to put on there, and it works just fine — but I've also got my 1993 Mitsubishi 3000 [car] I'm gonna put on there. Probably the 'Blue Book' [value] on it [is] 700 dollars, but I guarantee you I'm gonna get about 12 grand out of that thing."
Regarding his previously announced plan to sell his toilets from his newly purchased house in Las Vegas, Vinnie said, "The toilets are definitely going on [eBay].
"When I bought that house in Vegas... That house was built in 1986 and apparently people were smaller back then. I took [the toilets] all out, put them in the garage [and] got new ones, but those are going on eBay. And I will autograph those — there's three of them — and I guarantee you those will probably go for $1500 to three grand apiece."
He added, "It just pays for me and [HELLYEAH guitarist] Greg's [Tribbett] drinking habits."
METALLICA To Perform At Japan's SUMMER SONIC Festival
METALLICA will perform at this year's Summer Sonic festival in Japan. The band will headline the event on Saturday, August 10 in Tokyo at the QVC Marine Field and will close the proceedings on Sunday, August 11 in Osaka at Maishima Summer Sonic Site.
METALLICA previously performed at the 2006 edition of the Summer Sonic festival alongside TOOL, DEFTONES and STONE SOUR.
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich revealed in a new interview with Classic Rock magazine some more details about the band's upcoming 3D feature film, which will combine concert footage with a fictional storyline. Ulrichcited the 1976 LED ZEPPELIN movie "The Song Remains The Same" as a major influence, explaining, "There are four members in LED ZEPPELIN, four members in METALLICA, it's a full-length movie, and there's a lot in this film that does not take place onstage. The major difference is that the stuff that takes place offstage in the METALLICA movie does not feature any members of METALLICA. It's two separate worlds — aMETALLICA show and a story that unfolds in a parallel universe — and at some point they intertwine."
The ZEPPELIN film interspersed concert footage with fantasy sequences starring each member of the group.
The concert sequences for METALLICA's movie were shot last August at two shows in Vancouver, Canada. The movie is directed by Nimrod Antal, who helmed 2010's "Predators".
Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that making a movie has been one of the most daunting challenges METALLICA has ever taken on. "It's sort of fun, it's intimidating, it's a little overwhelming, to be honest, because it's a whole different league," he said. "You know, when we go down to [the METALLICA headquarters in San Rafael, California] and record and make a record, it's kind of — you know, we can manage the size of that. [laughs] When you're talking about doing, like, a 3D movie that you're gonna, like, play all over the world, that's a little bit of a bigger undertaking, so obviously we're treading a little more carefully."
A summer 2013 release is expected for METALLICA's film, which does not yet have an official title.
METALLICA has also begun working on material for its tenth studio album, which the band expects to begin recording later this year for a 2014 arrival.

Hollywood Undead, Black Veil Brides Expected to Make Big Debuts on Billboard 200
Hollywood Undead and Black Veil Brides are on track to score big numbers on theBillboard 200 album chart next week.
Hollywood Undead’s third album, Notes from the Underground, is headed for a top 10 spot on the tally, with projected sales putting it somewhere around 50,000 copies. If the projections are true, the album’s first week sales aren’t as strong as those of the band’s previous release, American Tragedy. That album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, selling 67,000 copies its first week out in 2011.
Meanwhile, Black Veil Brides' new concept album is also poised to appear in the list’s top 10. Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones is expected to sell around 45,000 copies in its first week. The band’s previous album, Set the World on Fire, debuted at #17 on Billboard 200.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be released on Wednesday.
Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor Promises “Darker” and “More Complex” Songs on House of Gold and Bones Part 2
Stone Sour fans can expect the second installment of the band's concept double album to be a bit different from the first. Frontman Corey Taylor says that the band explores some new creative avenues on House of Gold and BonesPart 2.
“I think [Part 2 is] darker,” he tells ABC News Radio. “I think it’s a lot more complex, it’s more intricate, it’s some of our more orchestral type of writing. There’s some really heavy bits on it but there’s some very dark, melancholy, sad bits on it.”
The singer adds that while the music from the upcoming album will be different, fans can expect the concept album’s storyline to continue where it left off on Part 1. “[Part 2 is] a completely different autonomous album,” he explains. “There’s certain themes that kind of come back and obviously the other characters, but musically, Part 2 feels more like a movie soundtrack than Part 1 does.”
Taylor notes that fans will get their first taste of songs from Part 2 during their co-headlining tour with Papa Roach, which kicks off on January 20 at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, PA. “We’re just doing selections [from House of Gold and Bones],” he reveals about the upcoming trek. “We’ll probably start adding a couple of songs actually from Part 2…that they can kinda take with them.”

CLUTCH: 'Earth Rocker' Title Track Available For Streaming
"Earth Rocker", the title track of the new album from Maryland rockers CLUTCH, can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below (courtesy of Brooklyn Vegan).
Produced by Machine (LAMB OF GOD, FOUR YEAR STRONG, FALL OUT BOY) at the Machine Shop studio in Belleville, New Jersey, "Earth Rocker" will be released on March 19 via CLUTCH's own Weathermaker Music label. The CD was described by CLUTCH vocalist Neil Fallon in a recent interview with DCHeavyMetal.com as "probably faster than most of our recent albums. Maybe compared to some other bands, it's not the fastest thing on planet Earth. For us it was definitely a step up in the tempo. And I think the other thing that kind of stands out about this one is the blues influences that we've been flirting with over the past couple records is more or less absent in this record, which didn't really happen intentionally until we looked back at it. As a whole, it's just much more of a straight-up rock and roll record."
The artwork for "Earth Rocker" was created by Nick Lakiotes, longtimeCLUTCH art director, who has worked on previous efforts, including"Robot Hive/Exodus" and "Strange Cousins From The West".
CLUTCH's North American dates kick off March 8 in Cincinnati, Ohio and are currently slated to run through March 24 in Anaheim, California. Support on the trek will come from ORANGE GOBLIN, LIONIZE and KYNG.
Video footage of CLUTCH performing the "Earth Rocker" title track at a secret CD-listening party on October 17, 2012 at the Machine Shop in Belleville, New Jersey can be seen below.

SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor will perform withFOO FIGHTERS mainman Dave Grohl as part of a new band called theSOUND CITY PLAYERS on January 18 at a concert in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival. Also scheduled to appear areQUEENS OF THE STONE AGE multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes, fellowFOO FIGHTERS members Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffe, Nate Mendel,Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, Grohl's onetime NIRVANA partner Krist Novoselic, Chris Goss (MASTERS OF REALITY), RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk, John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, CHEAP TRICK's Rick Nielsen, Rick Springfield, FEAR's Lee Ving and violinistJessy Greene. The show will feature what a publicist described as "core musicians" as well as "special guests" who appear in Grohl's new documentary, "Sound City: Real To Reel".
The film, which marks Grohl's debut as a feature director, will premiere at the Sundance festival before becoming available in theaters, on DVD and on demand on February 1, according to The Pulse Of Radio. The movie chronicles the history of Sound City, a legendary Los Angeles recording studio where acts ranging from FLEETWOOD MAC to NIRVANA cut some of rock's most classic albums.
In addition to conducting numerous interviews with musicians and producers for the film, Grohl brought together a selection of older and more contemporary artists to create new music together for the movie and its soundtrack.
The first of these collaborations, a song called "Cut Me Some Slack", features Grohl and several other former members of NIRVANA backing upPaul McCartney.
Grohl was inspired to make the film last year after purchasing Sound City's custom-built Neve 8028 recording console, considered by many to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment.
The film and soundtrack will include contributions from Stevie Nicks,Trent Reznor, Rick Springfield, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk ofRAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, Joshua Homme of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, Rick Nielsen of CHEAP TRICK, Corey Taylor, and more.
In a recent interview with Shan Man of the Phoenix, Arizona radio station98 KUPD, Taylor spoke about his involvement with the "Sound City"documentary.
Taylor revealed: "[Grohl] sent an email to me, basically explaining this huge project he was doing — the documentary around the infamous board that he got from Sound City [studios], which so many people have recorded on, myself included; [SLIPKNOT] did 'Iowa' on that board… He bought it, and I loved the idea that he was like, 'How many albums have been made on this board?'"
He added: "He wrote the song, he sent me a demo of it and I was like, 'This is fantastic,' and I just basically wrote the first thing that came off the top of my head. He didn't even hear it until I went down there to record it. And I laid it down, and he was just like, 'Wow.' Because we did it old school — two-inch tape, take after take after take. And with that board, man. It was really, really cool."

Metallica’s Lars Ulrich Says Upcoming 3D Film Influenced by Led Zeppelin; Talks New Album
Metallica is drawing some inspiration from Led Zeppelin’s 1976 classic concert flick, The Song Remains the Same, for their upcoming 3D movie. Drummer Lars Ulrich says that while there are some similarities between the two films, both of which feature live performances and some unique backstage sequences, there is one major difference.
“The stuff that takes place offstage in the Metallica movie does not feature any members of Metallica,” Ulrich tells U.K. magazine Classic Rock. “It’s two separate worlds -- a Metallica show and a story that unfolds in a parallel universe -- and at some point they intertwine.”
In addition to working on the film, the band is recording their next studio album. Ulrich adds that fans can expect the new material to be similar to what they experienced on 2008’s Death Magnetic.
“There aren’t many Metallica records that sound as good as Death Magnetic four years after they were made,” notes the drummer. “What we’re doing now certainly sounds like a continuation.”

Dropkick Murphys Reveal Story Behind “Rose Tattoo” Collaboration with Mumford & Sons’ Winston Marshall
Dropkicks Murphys got some help on their newly-released album, Signed and Sealed in Blood, from an unlikely source. The group’s lead single, “Rose Tattoo,” features some fancy picking from Mumford & Sons banjo player Winston Marshall. Dropkick Murphys mandolin player Tim Brennan says that the idea for the collaboration came about after the two bands met overseas.
“We played a festival in Europe and Mumford & Sons were playing,” Brennan tells Fuse in a video interview. “It turned out that they wanted to come see us later in the night, on a smaller stage. We struck up a conversation.”
Shortly after that, Mumford & Sons asked the Murphys to join the lineup for one of their Gentlemen of the Road Tour stops in Portland, Maine. Brennan reveals that it was during their time together that they “kidnapped” Winston and “made him play on the record.”
Singer/bassist Ken Casey adds that he enjoyed working with Marshall and that his signature style of playing was just what the song needed. "He's a good guy, down to earth," explains Casey. "It's cool...that he played on the record. It's subtle, but with that rolling finger-picking style, you know it's him when you hear it."
Dropkick Murphys are currently on tour overseas, but they’ll return to kick off a North American tour on February 21 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, OH.

The Black Keys to Begin Recording New Studio Album This Week
The Black Keys have revealed that they’ll be heading into the studio to begin working on their next studio album.
“We're going to start making the new album in the second week of January and we're hoping to have it done by some time in March," guitarist Dan Auerbach tells U.K. magazine Uncut.
Auerbach adds that when it comes to recording new material, the guitarist and his band mate Pat Carney don’t believe in writing anything in advance before beginning the recording process.
“The record isn't written yet, we'll do it when we get into the studio,” he explains. “This is when we both work best, when we're dying to make an album. All of our records take place in the studio, in that we make stuff up while we're there."
Jane’s Addiction Guitarist Dave Navarro Poses Naked for PETA, Again
Three years ago, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro posed naked in an ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ ongoing “Ink, Not Mink” campaign. Now, the guitarist has once again stripped down for PETA’s new anti–cosmetics testing campaign. The adfeatures Navarro, naked and seated on the ground, bleeding from the eyes with scarred patches of skin on his leg and torso.
"They're not taking a bunny rabbit and putting mascara on it,” said Navarro in a statement. “They're injecting a chemical directly into its eye to see what kind of adverse reaction happens to it. They're all alive, and they're all aware. It's torture for the animal, it's terrifying and painful and probably one of the cruelest things done in the name of vanity."

Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE — singer Jesse Leach, guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, bassist Mike D'Antonio, guitarist Joel Stroetzel and drummer Justin Foley — have set "Disarm The Descent"as the title of their upcoming sixth album. The 12-track record is due out April 2 on Roadrunner and is the follow-up to 2009's self-titled release."Disarm THE Descent" is the band's first album with original singer Leachat the vocal helm since 2002's now-classic, genre-defining "Alive or Just Breathing". Leach returned to the band in January 2012 after a decade-long absence.
The first single, "In Due Time", will be made available digitally on February 5. Album pre-orders will kick off in early February, as well, with more details forthcoming.
"Disarm The Descent" was selected by Alternative Press magazine for its "Most Anticipated Albums of 2013" issue, and the band was profiled inGuitar World as one to watch in 2013. Clearly, buzz from fans and the metal and hard rock community regarding new KILLSWITCH ENGAGEremains deafening.
"It is with a grateful spirit that we prepare for this record's release,"Leach said. "From the music, to the lyrics, to the artwork, we are all proud of what we have accomplished. To me, this is by far my best vocal performance, much thanks to Adam's guidance and faith in my abilities. I am very grateful to be where I am in life, back in an amazing band with a record we are all excited for the world to hear. Thanks to all the fans for their warm welcome back and their undying love for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE."
2012 marked a busy year for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE.
With Leach firmly installed as the frontman for the last 12 months, the band spent its summer on the road. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE shook the bedrock of venues across the country as part of the first-ever Trespass America tour alongside FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH.
The band recently embarked on a tour that celebrated the 10th anniversary of "Alive Or Just Breathing". They performed the album in full, with a few fan favorites and hits from their gold-selling albums, 2004's"The End Of Heartache" and 2006's "As Daylight Dies", sprinkled into the setlist. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE were also profiled by Decibel in the magazine's highly respected "Hall of Fame" feature for "Alive Or Just Breathing".
In between tours, the band put its nose to the grindstone to work on what would become "Disarm The Descent", with Dutkiewicz producing. The wheels have been turning for the past year, as the band supplemented recording with touring. The time is upon us for the next chapter of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, who were at the forefront of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal resurgence that defined the '00s and have remained vital into the new decade.
"Disarm The Descent" track listing:
01. The Hell In Me
02. Beyond The Flames
03. New Awakening
04. In Due Time
05. A Tribute To The Fallen
06. The Turning Point
07. All That We Have
08. You Don't Bleed For Me
09. The Call
10. No End In Sight
11. Always
12. Time Will Not Remain
"Disarm The Descent" was mixed by veteran British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with MEGADETH, TESTAMENT,EXODUS, ACCEPT, ARCH ENEMY and NEVERMORE.
"[The recording process] was great," Leach told Loudwire. "I came off tour I was filled with energy, ready to go, we knocked out a bunch of stuff. I had joined the band, the record was there, we're on tour so I really didn't have time to write. I took the past two months not only recording but writing so I'm there with an idea, being in the other room writing and going to Adam saying, 'Here's my idea I just wrote, what do you think?' So there's real spontaneity some of the songs that we just finished up. I had maybe five or six solid ideas when I came off tour and the rest had to be developed as we were recording it. It was exciting but at the same time tough because for me I'm digging deep down into my emotions and my psyche trying to come up with stuff that is honest and emotive and relevant, hopefully for the listener. It's tiring but well worth, anything that's worth achieving you got to suffer a little bit for it. I think mentally and spiritually and a little bit physically we were suffering but all of that made for an amazing record that I'm really proud of."
He added, "The music is definitely the fastest KILLSWITCH record ever. It's very heavy but still maintains the signature KILLSWITCH hooky, melodic stuff there, too. There's definitely melody attached, but I pulled out some new styles vocally, yelling and screaming and growling and layers and it sounds massive."
Asked what the vibe has been working on the new record with the other members, Leach said, "These guys have welcomed me back with open arms and just very encouraging and digging the stuff that I'm doing and these guys were just like, 'Wow! We're really excited. We feel like it's been a long time since we've been this excited about music,' and that just makes me feel amazing. It makes me feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing."
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE fans have already had the opportunity to hear one of the cuts that will appear on the upcoming CD: a rough mix of the song"No End In Sight" was recently leaked online, and as a result the band has started playing it live.
"That song is the weakest song on the whole record," Leach toldLoudwire. "That's my opinion. I actually almost wouldn't mind if it wasn't even on the record because I think other stuff is much better, but probably since we played it and fans know it, we'll put it on, but in my opinion, that's definitely the weakest song. Now that the record is done, in retrospect, that would not be the song that we would be playing live."

On Friday (January 4), a picture of Tremonti and Kennedy in the studio (see below) was posted on the ALTER BRIDGE Facebook page with the caption: "It begins today." A follow-up message earlier today (Monday, January 7) stated: "Writing on 'AB4' has begun. Very productive sessions so far!"

OZZY OSBOURNE Back In The Studio Recording Vocals For New BLACK SABBATH Album
Ozzy Osbourne has posted a new photo from a a Los Angeles studio where he is currently laying down vocals on the new BLACK SABBATHalbum. Check it out below.
As previously reported, BLACK SABBATH took part in a photo shoot on November 30 with famed British photographer/artist Sam Taylor-Wood.
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi clarified the status of the band's new CD in an October interview with "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show". Although it has been reported that the band has recorded 15 songs, Iommi explained, "That's wrong . . . We've written 15 songs and we've played them all. But now, at the moment, we're recording them. We recorded them at my house first, in England, just as demos, but now we're doing them for real. So we're about six tracks in now, at the moment."
Iommi, Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler are recording their first album together under the SABBATH name since 1978's "Never Say Die".
The drums on the disc are being handled by Tommy Clufetos, who has replaced founding drummer Bill Ward due to a contractual dispute between Ward and the rest of the group.
Asked if there is any chance of Ward rejoining the band, Iommi said, "We'll always have a heart for Bill, but I think it's gone past that now, because it's gone on so long that I don't see that happening at the moment. Maybe at some point we might [play together again]."
Meanwhile, SABBATH has announced an Australian tour for April and has also revealed that it will headline the first-ever Japanese version ofOzzfest on May 11-12, with SLIPKNOT also on the bill.
DARK NEW DAY: 'Hail Mary' Artwork, Track Listing Revealed
Pavement Entertainment has acquired the rights to the "long-lost" "Hail Mary" album from DARK NEW DAY — the band featuring Clint Lowery(guitar; SEVENDUST), Corey Lowery (bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO), Brett Hestla (vocals, guitar; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT), Will Hunt (drums; EVANESCENCE, ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) and Bradley "BC" Kochmit (guitar; SWITCHED a.k.a. SW1TCHED). The CD was to be the follow-up to the group's debut effort, "Twelve Year Silence", but it was never released.
"Hail Mary" will finally be made available on February 19 and will be distributed via MRI/RED in North America and SPV in Europe. The CD contains "twelve tracks of in-your-face hard rock that only DARK NEW DAY can deliver," according to a press release.
"Hail Mary" track listing:
01. Goodbye
02. Anywhere
03. Vicious Thinking
04. Simple
05. Hail Mary
06. On My Way
07. Saddest Song
08. Dear Addy
09. Someday
10. Fiend
11. Outside
12. Give Me The World
Commented Hunt: "We in DARK NEW DAY are extremely excited that our 'lost' album is finally going to get the proper release and treatment it deserves. We're excited for fans to hear what two years of writing, struggle, and growth did for us. You'll hear a band that wasn't afraid to embrace experimentation and forge new sonic territory. You'll also hear a band at times grind out some of the darkest, heaviest, lyrically intense music of its career. This record is sonically amazing and we're very proud of it. We hope that this is just a stepping stone to another record in the very near future. Enjoy!"
Tim King, director of A&R for Pavement, states: “I've been a fan ofDARK NEW DAY ever since I bought the debut at Best Buy back in 2005 (yes, I supported my friends and bought the album!!). As their A&R guy, I'm thrilled to be able to work 'Hail Mary', but as a fan I'm even more excited to let everyone finally hear this amazing album."
DARK NEW DAY may have been new to fans of the bandmembers' previous groups, but it was really a reunion that was twelve years in the making, as the members of DARK NEW DAY literally grew up together. Brothers Clint and Corey Lowery and childhood friend Troy McLawhornmet singer Brett Hestla and drummer Will Hunt while touring as kids in the Southeast club circuit. "We were playing a circuit that had a lot of older people in it, in their twenties, and we were all kids, so we could identify with each other," said Hunt in a 2005 interview. "We really came into ourselves on that circuit," added Corey. "It was like going to rock 'n' roll high school — you'd always try and turn it up because you wanted to impress each other."
LARS ULRICH Says New METALLICA Material 'Sounds Like A Continuation' Of 'Death Magnetic'
METALLICA last year tapped award-winning director Nimród Antal to helm the band's 3D movie. Charlotte Huggins ("Journey To The Center Of The Earth", "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island") is producing the film, which will be a marriage of narrative and concert and will star the "five" members of METALLICA — James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo, and the fans. It will be released in the summer.
"There are similarities [to LED ZEPPELIN's 1976 film 'The Song Remains The Same', a companion to the live album of the same name]," Ulrichreveals in the latest issue of Classic Rock magazine. "There are four members in LED ZEPPELIN, four members in METALLICA, it's a full-length movie, and there's a lot in this film that does not take place onstage. The major difference is that the stuff that takes place offstage in theMETALLICA movie does not feature any members of METALLICA. It's two separate worlds — a METALLICA show and a story that unfolds in a parallel universe — and at some point they intertwine."
METALLICA recently commenced work on material for the follow-up to 2008's "Death Magnetic" for a tentative 2014 release. The new songs are said to pick up where the last album left off.
"'Death Magnetic' is one motherfucker of a record," Ulrich told Classic Rock. "There aren't many METALLICA records that sound as good as'Death Magnetic' four years after they were made. With a lot of the other records, there were questions: 'Why did we do that?' or 'What was going on there?' or 'Why didn't somebody say to turn the snare on?' I don't feel like that with 'Death Magnetic'. What we're doing now certainly sounds like a continuation."
However, Lars would not confirm that METALICA's next album will once again be helmed by producer Rick Rubin, who worked on "Death Magnetic", telling Classic Rock: "I love Rick. We all love Rick. We're in touch with Rick constantly. We'll see where it goes."
He added: "It would stun me if the record came out in 2013. We've got to finish this 3D movie, which is what we're doing right now."

SLASH Performs At Opening Party For CHARLIE SHEEN's Mexican Bar; Video Available
Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) performed at the opening party for actor Charlie Sheen's new bar, El Ganzo (The Goose), on December 28 in the Mexican resort area of Los Cabos. Also appearing at the event were Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and "The Biggest Loser"'s Dr. Robert Huizenga.
Video footage of Slash's performance can be seen below.
During his introduction of Slash, Charlie yelled out, "How we doing? ... Lying bunch of f**got a**holes, HOW WE DOING?"
Charlie later expressed regret saying, "I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one. I apologize if I offended anyone." He then added, "I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp."
Sheen, a neighbor and personal friend of Slash's who called himself a "Rock Star From Mars" when he underwent a public meltdown amid his firing from the CBS show "Two And A Half Men", spoke at Slash'sHollywood Walk Of Fame induction ceremony in July. He said, "It's quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on."
He added, "This star is going to be stepped on more than the coke we did in the '80s."
In an interview with Australia's long-running rock station Triple M during his tour with the Soundwave rock festival in March 2011, Slash spoke about the troubles Sheen was facing at the time.
"I love Charlie," Slash smiled. "Charlie is probably the most rock 'n' roll character in entertainment today. All things considered, he's been having a little bit of a hard time recently with all the bad press and everything. But he's been managing to get away with what he's been doing on that show and get a raise over the last more than ten years. I think that's pretty cool," he laughed.

"Decay" is the first single from SEVENDUST's ninth album, "Black Out The Sun", which will be released on March 26, 2013 via the band's 7Bros. Records label (through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group). The CD was recorded at Architekt Music studios in Butler, New Jersey with engineer Mike Ferretti.
"The craziest thing about this record is finishing it in about a month," guitarist John Connolly told Revolver magazine. "We haven't done that since our debut album [1997's self-titled effort]. This is one of the fastest records we've ever made, but also one of the strongest — working off instinct mostly."
According to Connolly, SEVENDUST's forthcoming CD finds the band exploring "a darker vibe," but "there's still plenty of melody," he added. "The record fits right in with 'Animosity' [2002], 'Alpha' [2007], and our self-titled album. Lots of heavy stuff and some more mellow, moody songs as well It's a nice balance of what makes for the SEVENDUST sound."
Other songtitles set to appear on the 12-track CD, which was produced by the bandmembers themselves, include "Mountain" and "Murder Bar". The latter was reportedly inspired by a Butler, New Jersey bar across from the hotel where SEVENDUST was staying while recording the new CD.
SEVENDUST and LACUNA COIL will join forces for a U.S. tour in early 2013. The bands will head out on a 17-date run throughout the month of February. The trek kicks off on February 2 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Director Says Kurt Cobain Documentary Features "Treasure Chest" of Late Singer's Artwork
The upcoming documentary about Kurt Cobain will explore the many talents of the lateNirvana frontman. Filmmaker Brett Morgen, who recently directed the Rolling Stonesdocumentary Crossfire Hurricane, says that the movie will showcase Cobain's work as an artist in addition to his vocal prowess.
“[Cobain] was an incredible visual artist and left behind a treasure chest of comic books, paintings, Super8 films, all sorts,” Morgen tells NME. “We're hoping the Cobain film…will be this generation's The Wall -- a mix of animation and live action that'll allow the audience to experience Kurt in a way they never have before. It's very ambitious."
The filmmaker adds that Cobain was a complex person and that the forthcoming documentary will “reflect his spirit.” "If you think about Kurt, he's a contradiction,” Morgen explains. “He could be sincere and sentimental, and also ironic and sarcastic. He was sweet and sour [and] incredibly funny too.”
Morgen expects that his documentary on Cobain will be released sometime in 2014.
Anthrax Guitarist Rob Caggiano Leaves Band After 12 Years
Anthrax needs a new guitarist. On Thursday, guitarist Rob Caggiano announced that he's decided to leave the band.
"I'm extremely proud of my time in Anthrax,” said Caggiano in a statement. "It's been a wild ride (to say the least) from Day One and I wouldn't change one single thing about the last 12 years. This is an extremely difficult and emotional decision for me to make but my heart is just steering me in a different direction right now."
Caggiano adds that he will now be focusing on his other passion: producing records. "I can't wait to get back in the recording studio again," he reveals. "Over the years, I've been blessed with the privilege of working with a wide range of great bands/artists from Anthrax and Cradle of Filth all the way to Bruce Springsteen, and I look forward to a hopeful continuation of that side of my career while I figure out my next move as an artist."
In response to Caggiano's departure, the remaining members of Anthrax -- Charlie Benante, Scott Ian, Frank Bello and Joey Belladonna -- issued their own jointstatement on Friday.
"Rob has been an integral part of Anthrax for so many years, as our lead guitarist, in a production capacity, but most of all, as our close friend," they write. "His contributions to the band have been enormous. While we are sad that he is leaving, we wish him nothing but great success going forward, and hope to share the stage with him again sometime down the road."
The rockers add that they currently are "considering several lead guitarist options," and plan to announce who will be replacing Caggiano soon.
Rolling Stones Members Muse About 2013 Tour Plans, Which Could Include a Coachella Festival Appearance
It's apparently only a matter of time before The Rolling Stones reveal plans for a 2013 tour. Speaking with Rolling Stone magazine last month, a couple of days after the group's final 2012 concert, guitarist Keith Richards declared, "Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement."
The rock legend said the band's series of 50th anniversary shows "went like a dream, at the same speed, man. But we barely got off the starting blocks." He added, "It would be dopey to bring things up to this level and say, 'Well, that's that, 50 years, bye-bye.'"
Singer Mick Jagger, meanwhile, admitted that "quite a few offers" have been presented to The Stones with regard to a 2013 trek, adding, "I'm going to see what's on the table and discuss it with everyone. We'll announce it when we've figured it out."
Richards told Rolling Stone that he and his band mates weren't overly concerned about marking the group's milestone anniversary, suggesting that The Stones were more motivated to start working again because the timing seemed right.
"Nostalgia is not this band's strong point," he pointed out. "It was almost kicking and screaming to get us to this 50-year thing. We eventually realized it was a good time to put things together again."
While nothing has been confirmed yet, one event that might be part of The Stones' touring plans is the 2013 Coachella festival, scheduled to take place April 12-14 and April 19-21 in Indio, California. Last month, an appearance at the fest briefly showed up on a list of tour dates posted on the group's official mobile-phone app. Although Jagger toldRolling Stone that The Stones hadn't even been asked to play the event, Coachella's Facebook page on Thursday posted an image of a round stone in a field -- strongly suggesting that the band may indeed be performing at the annual music extravaganza.
The scope and length of The Stones' 2013 itinerary still might be in the planning stages, but judging from his comments to Rolling Stone, Richards seems to think that, after the 2012 shows, the entire band is looking forward to hitting the road again. "I just get the feeling -- they're itching at the bit now," he maintained. "This thing wasn't enough."

METALLICA Still Supporting Parents Of Murdered Fan
According to The Pulse Of Radio, more than three years after 20-year-old METALLICA fan Morgan Harrington vanished after leaving one of the band's concerts, only for her remains to be found several months later, the young girl's parents say that the band is still supporting their efforts to solve her murder and bring her killer to justice. Morgan's mother, Gil Harrington, told Noisecreep, "It has been humbling from the very beginning. Two days after Morgan was abducted, they could have distanced themselves from an ugly occurrence. But [METALLICAfrontman] James Hetfield called this house to speak to Dan[Harrington, Morgan's dad], as a father, and asked, 'What can we do?' Three years out, they are still doing things. James participated with theFBI and did public service announcements."
METALLICA has also added $50,000 to the $100,000 reward already offered by the Harringtons for information on their daughter's murder, and invested another $50,000 in a scholarship named in her memory.
Yet another $40,000 from the sale of a special "Enter Sandman" T-shirt was donated in Harrington's name to a medical scholarship fund atVirginia Tech, where the victim was a student.
The case remains unsolved and Morgan's parents continue to press the investigation in the hope that the killer does not claim another victim.
Morgan vanished while hitchhiking home from the band's show on theVirginia Tech campus on October 17, 2009. Her remains were found on a farm about 10 miles from the venue in January 2010.
METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo told The Pulse Of Radio at the time how he felt when he first heard about the tragic incident. "I mean, I was crushed," he said. "Stuff like this just really, really bums me out, especially when you are a parent and you have children. I mean, it's the worst thing that you could ever imagine."
Although her killer is still at large, the FBI has used DNA evidence to link him to a 2005 sexual assault in Fairfax County. Authorities have not been able to identify the suspect but have released sketches of what he may look like.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Virginia State Police at 434-352-3467.
Men's Wearhouse Apologizes To DAVE MUSTAINE For Delay In Delivering Gift Certificate
Men's Wearhouse, the U.S.-based men's dress apparel retailer, has apologized to MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine for the delay in delivering the gift certificate he purchased for the band's tour manager.
In a December 28 note on MEGADETH's Facebook page, Mustainedetailed his recent trouble with the chain, writing: "I know that not all of you have the kind of job that requires a suit, or wear a suit when you (if you) go to any kind of faith-based service, court date, wedding or funeral, but if you do…you are going to want to read this. You know me, I don't complain much in writing, but I gotta get this off my chest.
"A few days before Christmas, I purchased a gift certificate from theMen's Warehouse [sic] in Salt Lake City, Utah as a gift for our awesome tour manager Jim Carroccio. You know the Men's Warehouse [sic]… the old geezer with the voice that sound like he has chain-smoked since he was a fetus; the one that espouses, 'I absolutely guarantee you're gonna like the way you look,' or some manure like that, right?
"Well, I was talking to Jim today and wondering why he didn't say anything (I think we all wonder sometimes when our loved ones or friends get gifts if they actually like them) and it turns out that they decided to hold my order, otherwise called by them as 'pending,' and told no one. For almost 9 days now, I have been waiting for delivery of this gift certificate, and I wouldn't say anything because it IS the holidays, but these salesmen promised that they would GUARANTEE a two-day delivery of the certificate to Jim (it seems they throw this word GUARANTEE around quite a lot).
"So, we called and asked what happened and they have no explanation whatsoever, they didn't care, and when we asked if they were going to do anything to remedy this, they made no effort whatsoever for this mix-up… although they did promise me the same GUARANTEE that they gave me when I bought it; that is that they will send it 'two-day delivery,' but I already was promised this. Maybe they mean 12-day delivery.
"I really think that it sucks when people make false claims, that they don't care to make good on a problem that is clearly their fault, and with all of the 'ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE IT' crap I just had to say something. We are all living in very tight financial times right now, and like I said, you may not wear a suit for your job or for an event or occasion, but if you do, I would strongly recommend you wear someone else's suits. Go to JoS A. Bankinstead. I for one, will never set foot in a Men's Warehouse [sic], even for shelter from a blizzard. I absolutely GUARANTEE it."
On January 2, Men's Wearhouse responded to Mustaine viaMEGADETH's Facebook page, admitting that the delay in processing the order was "unacceptable" and standing by its promise to "deliver world-class customer service."
"Dave, thanks for reaching out to us on Facebook," Joe of the Men's Wearhouse "social media team" wrote. "We apologize for the delay in receiving your gift card and agree that the delay is unacceptable. Customer satisfaction is our highest priority and we stand by our guarantee to deliver world-class customer service. So, we'd like to speak with you about a solution but are having some trouble reaching you since we last connected on 12/28. Please send your contact info to MWListens@tmw.com and our team will help you right away."
ALL THAT REMAINS Drummer Says Singer LABONTE 'Likes To Be Around Things He's Familiar With'
Anthony Morgan of Metal Forces recently conducted an interview with drummer Jason Costa of Massachusetts metallers ALL THAT REMAINS. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
On the band's latest album, "A War You Cannot Win":
Jason: "This is a very guitar, very melody-oriented album. It wasn't very rhythm-based at all. I would just say it's metal; it's a metal album. We've got some heavy songs on there, some heavy, groovy songs on there. We've got some fast, heavy songs on there, we've got some more radio-friendly, melodic songs on there. It's typical ALL THAT REMAINS, really, but we've definitely stepped up the musicianship there and the writing. It's becoming more polished, a bit more refined. I've been in the band for six years now, so the band's been a solid unit for six years. Whereas there've been a lot of membership changes in the past and everything, everyone's been gelling more. Not that they hadn't in the past or anything, but getting to know everyone better and the chemistry coming together more and everything just really helps a lot."
On whether ALL THAT REMAINS differ much between albums:
Jason: "When I joined, they already had most of the material written for'Overcome'. The last album, 'For We Are Many', and this album seem to be pretty much the same. There are melodic songs, there are fast songs, and there are heavy songs. It's kind of the same. It's not heavier or less heavier, or faster or slower. If you compare all of the songs, they're pretty much the same. The only album that was ever a little bit different from the rest I would say was 'The Fall Of Ideals' [July 2006], which was written in a very rhythmic kind of way. Previously the band had a drummer [Michael Bartlett] that couldn't play a lot of double-bass on 'This Darkened Heart' [March 2004]. When they got Shannon [Lucas] who then joined THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER afterwards, they loved the fact that he could play double-bass. They wanted to just have every song with tons and tons of double-bass in it, because they weren't used to it. It was like a new thing for them to play around with, so they wrote mostly every song around these double-bass patterns. If you go back and listen to that album, most of those songs are written to double-bass patterns. After that though, they didn't wanna write the same album again. Sometimes kids will come up, and say 'Why don't you write another album like 'The Fall Of Ideals'?' To answer that question, that's because we already wrote 'The Fall Of Ideals'. [laughs] I wasn't in the band, but when I joined the band, I thought it was gonna be like 'The Fall Of Ideals'. I was psyched, because I love playing double-bass. I'm actually one of the people in the band that fights to keep everything as heavy as possible, much to everyone's dismay sometimes. [laughs] That was a little bit different, but now they want to explore other things. Most of the members have been in the band for years and years, so sometimes you don't wanna play the same thing all the time. It's nice to branch out, Phil [Labonte, vocals] using another style of vocals and Oli [Herbert, guitars] and Mike[Martin, rhythm guitars] exploring other avenues as far as melodies go in songs, and stuff in different tempos. I know that was an amorphous, vague answer to your question, but that's how I feel about all that. It's a big question to ask."
On frontman Phil Labonte not liking touring Europe:
Jason: "Phil's kind of a hermit. He likes to stay at home, and likes to be around things that he's familiar with. That's just him. Just because you're in a band doesn't mean you're not subject to the same sort of mental issues that everyone else in the world is. [laughs] You're still a human being, and you're still gonna have your opinions and stuff like that. He's not saying that to be mean. He'd really rather be home around things that he's more familiar with, and be able to read street signs and understand people rather than have to filter something through an accent. He's not being a jerk by saying that; he's just being honest. We're definitely going to tour Europe still. If he didn't wanna go to Europe, he's our singer. We couldn't just go without him, so we'll be in Europe soon and that's proof positive that fans shouldn't take that at all in any personal way."
On whether Phil Labonte likes the band's European fans:
Jason: "Are you kidding me? What he thinks are our best shows ever are… I can't remember… Like Malmö (Sweden), and Finland. We've had some amazing, amazing shows over there, and he's gotten offstage glowing, saying 'Oh my God. That was the best show ever’. It's the fans that make it the best show ever."
Frontman Chris Cornell Promises “Really Old, Obscure Songs” on Upcoming Soundgarden Tour
In less than two weeks, Soundgarden will kick off a North American tour to promote their first album in more than 15 years, King Animal. Frontman Chris Cornell says fans who attend the upcoming gigs will experience a wide variety of tracks from the band’s catalog.
“We’re gonna probably gravitate towards new songs because we’re like that,” the singer tells ABC News Radio. “We’re also gonna probably gravitate toward some really old, obscure songs that we haven’t played in 20 years, or ever, because we’re like that too.”
While the band hasn’t revealed if they’ll be making more new music after the tour, Cornell notes that the guys usually have no rules when it comes to their future plans. “I think that we should be a band forever and assemble and make music, play shows, do whatever it is we want to do when we all feel like doing it,” he notes. “[We should] not ever feel like it’s necessary to define being together or not being together as a band.”
Soundgarden’s tour begins on January 16 at Terminal 5 in New York City. Visit SoundgardenWorld.com to view the full itinerary.

STONE SOUR: 'House Of Gold & Bones - Part 2' Due In April
STONE SOUR vocalist Corey Taylor has revealed via Twitter that the second part of the band's "House Of Gold & Bones" double album will be released in April. The effort will also be made available as a four-issue comic book.
Like the story, the "House Of Gold & Bones" album package comes in two parts. When the two pieces meet, they combine to create the"House Of Gold & Bones".
When asked by ThisIsNotAScene what fans can expect from the second part of "House Of Gold & Bones", Taylor said: "Part 2 is much darker [than the first part], if I'm honest.
Taylor recently revealed that he would like to see the band's new conceptual record be adapted as a movie as well. Speaking with Artisan News, Taylor said, "Once we've toured and we've got the music out to everyone, the thing I really wanna do is have two movies — Part 1 and Part 2. With the comic and the story and the music, I think we'll be able to do it. I already know who I wanna talk to about doing it, so we'll see what happens."
Taylor did not say who he would like to direct the movie, or if it would be produced through Living, Breathing Films, the production company he and SLIPKNOT percussionist Clown launched last year.
The comic book version of "House Of Gold & Bones" is expected to debut on April 17. The four-issue series will be published by Dark Horse Comics and will visualize the sci-fi short story that forms the basis of the albums.
BUCKCHERRY: 'Confessions' Track Listing Revealed
Californian rockers BUCKCHERRY will release their sixth studio album,"Confessions", on February 13. The disc will be BUCKCHERRY's first domestic release with new label Century Media Records. The CD will be made available via Eleven Seven Music in other parts of the world.
"Confessions" is a loose concept album that revolves around the notion of the seven deadly sins and is inspired by events in singer Josh Todd's childhood. The vocalist told The Pulse Of Radio how first single,"Gluttony", fits into this. "Seven of the songs on the record are the seven sins, so 'Gluttony', you know, it's just about over-consuming everything in your life, you know, and just being a glutton," he said. "And it's got a great hook and I really love the lyrics and everybody likes the song."
"Confessions" track listing:
01. Gluttony
02. Wrath
03. Nothing Left But Tears
04. The Truth
05. Greed
06. Water
07. Seven Ways To Die
08. Air
09. Sloth
10. Pride
11. Envy
12. Lust
13. Dreamin' Of You
Todd has helped co-write a short film that will come out around the same time as the album and expand upon the record's themes. It's not clear yet how the film will be distributed. BUCKCHERRY did do some sort of video shoot in November in Los Angeles for an unspecified song from the album, putting out an open casting call for fans to appear in the clip.
Todd said that "Confessions" is "definitely a heavier, musically, record than we've ever had, and more melodic. It's pretty intense, but everybody's gonna love it. It's quintessential BUCKCHERRY at the end of the day."
The band will join KID ROCK as special guests on his upcoming "Rebel Soul" tour, beginning February 2 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Dave Grohl has scheduled a unique concert to celebrate the first screening of his new documentary, Sound City. The Foo Fighters frontman, along with a number of artists from the film, will perform as Grohl’s Sound City Players on January 18 at Park City Live in Park City, Utah. That's the same day that the movie premieres at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Some on the artists featured in the film and on its soundtrack include Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Alain Johannes, Rage Against the Machine’s Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, Slipknot/Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and Foo Fighters Pat Smear and Taylor Hawkins.
"The film Sound City showcases the most talented group of musicians in the world and we are thrilled they chose to celebrate the documentary at Park City Live," said CEO of Park City Live Kathryn Burns in a statement. "The evening will be spectacular and we look forward to seeing who will join Dave Grohl and the Sound City Players onstage."
Ticketing information for the concert, as well as the complete list of performers in Grohl’s Sound City Players, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Jack White’s Blunderbuss Is the Biggest-Selling Vinyl Album of 2012
It’s official: Jack White made the best-selling vinyl album of 2012. The ex-White Stripessinger’s debut solo album, Blunderbuss, racked up 33,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan's vinyl charts. Blunderbuss unseated The Beatles 1969 album, Abbey Road, which had held the top spot on the vinyl charts for the last three years. In addition, Blunderbuss is the first new album to top the vinyl charts since Soundscan first started tracking vinyl sales in 2008.
3 Doors Down Hopes to Release Next Album in a “Year and a Half”
3 Doors Down may have just released their Greatest Hits album, but that doesn’t mean that the band is winding down. Frontman Brad Arnold says that fans can expect the band to churn out a new album in the near future.
“We really want to focus this time on getting another record out within the next, maybe, year and a half or so,” the singer tells ABC News Radio. “So that means writing on the road, but we’re all kind of professional procrastinators. We’re like, ‘Yeah man we’ll get out on tour and write this time.’ And then you get on tour [and it’s], ‘Oh yeah man, we’ll write when we get home.’”
Arnold adds that the self-imposed deadline will be something new for the band, which has consistently put out a new album about every three years. “It seems like…it’s been a long time in between our records, but you know by the time you write a record, and you record it…and promote it and then go out there and tour on it for a while, by the time you get around to that writing process and recording again and get it out it’s been like three years.”
3 Doors Down will kick off the next leg of their co-headlining tour with Daughtry at the Verizon Theatre in Dallas, TX, on January 25.
Eddie Vedder Says Pearl Jam Is “Halfway” Done with Next Album
Pearl Jam made some significant process on the follow-up to 2009’s Backspacer before its members took some time off to work on their side projects.
“[We’re] maybe halfway there,” frontman Eddie Vedder tells Rolling Stone about the upcoming release. “We're taking our time. At some point we'll join forces again for sure…we'll be ready to go when we're ready to go.”
Vedder adds that the new album will reflect the group’s newly-invigorated musical chemistry. “We really work together as a unit these days,” notes the singer. “It's really the compilation of all the parts. We've figured out after all these years that if everybody just puts their stamp on it then it sounds how we want it to.”
Pearl Jam has said that they plan to begin writing and recording new music for the upcoming release in March.
Guitarist Josh Rand Says House of Gold and Bones Is Stone Sour’s “Best Record”
Josh Rand is thrilled with the way that Stone Sour’s House of Gold and Bones turned out. The guitarist says he feels the concept double album features a blend of all the best qualities of the band’s previous albums.
"I truly do believe [House of Gold and Bones is] our best record,” Rand tells Alternative Addiction. “It has the rawness and heaviness of the first record, the diversity of [2006’s]Come What(ever) May, and the melodies of [2010’s] Audio Secrecy. And it’s all been combined into one album.”
Rand adds that the toughest part of making the album was the songwriting process, which was left to frontman Corey Taylor. “[Creating House of Gold and Bones] was probably only more strenuous for Corey -- just to tie everything in lyrically and build off of the short story he had written,” he reveals. “But for the rest of us, honestly it was just like we were doing another record.”
The second installment of House of Gold and Bones is expected to be released sometime in April, while a four-issue comic book mini-series based on the album will be available starting April 17. You’ll get your first chance to hear songs from the upcoming release when Stone Sour hits the road for a co-headlining tour with Papa Roach later this month. That outing begins on January 20 at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, PA. Visit StoneSour.com to view the full itinerary.
OZZY OSBOURNE Spends Quality Time With His Granddaughter
A couple of photos of BLACK SABBATH legend Ozzy Osbourne spending quality time with his new granddaughter, Pearl, can be seen below (courtesy of Jack Osbourne's Facebook page and Twitter account).
Ozzy's wife/manager Sharon Osbourne became a first-time grandmother on April 24, 2012 when their 27-year-old son Jack and his now-wife, actress Lisa Stelly, welcomed Pearl at a healthy 8 lbs., 6 oz.
Ozzy already had four grandchildren; two each from daughter Jessica and son Louis from his previous marriage to Thelma Riley.
Introducing his daughter in Hello! magazine, Jack said, "People say when you have a kid, it's like instant love, but unless you've experienced it, it's impossible to comprehend.
"The moment I saw her, I felt more love than I'd ever felt for anything. It was the weirdest, most overwhelming thing."
It is the first child for Osbourne and Lisa Stelly. At the time, Sharonsaid, "I'm happy because it's what Jack wants, so I'm happy. And I've always wanted to be a grandma, so it couldn't be better."
Jack found fame through his family's MTV reality show "The Osbournes"and has since appeared in several other TV programs. In 2011 he produced a documentary about his father called "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne"which, according to The Telegraph, contained admissions from the singer's five children that Ozzy was not a good father in their younger years, and that their abiding memories were of him hopelessly intoxicated, or, more usually, absent altogether.
