Bullet for My Valentine Talks Spontaneous Recording Process for Temper Temper
When Bullet for My Valentine headed into the studio to record their forth studio album,Temper Temper, the band decided to try something different. Frontman Matthew Tucksays that the band experimented with new songwriting and recording processes for the forthcoming release, which is due on February 12, 2013.
“[Temper Temper] was a very different affair really compared to anything we’ve ever really done,” the singer tells ABC News Radio. “We didn’t do any demoing, pre-writing or anything for this record. The concept behind it was just go to the studio, write and record as we went along and, kind of, capture that spontaneity and excitement. It was just a very quick process rather than kind of just re-recording track and track which you’ve demoed over the last couple of years.”
Tuck adds that if the process was different, fans can expect the band to head for familiar sonic territory on Temper Temper, as the new release will be similar to their 2010 album,Fever.
“It’s definitely got kind of the same feel and vibe as Fever,” he reveals. “Partly because where we want to go musically is [to] stray away from the metal a bit and just concentrate more on, kind of like, a hard rock, slamming kind of mid-tempo vibe, but have the metal influences still in there.”

Pearl Jam Bassist Ament Talks Speedy Recording Process for RNDM’s Acts
Jeff Ament says Acts, the debut album of his side project, RNDM, was one of the quickest albums he’s ever made. The Pearl Jam bassist reveals that the recording process for the release only took a few days.
“We basically did the recording in four days and one night,” Ament tells ARTISTDirect.com. “[The band] got in at about seven at night. We started recording at nine. We recorded one song, and we had [the album] four full days after that.”
Ament adds that he hopes he can make some new music with RNDM before he’s called back to finish Pearl Jam’s follow-up to 2009’s Backspacer. “I'm probably not going to get busy with Pearl Jam until March or something,” he explains. “I'm up for whatever. There's a little bit of momentum within [RNDM] right now so I think we want to keep it moving.”
OZZY On New SABBATH Album: 'I Hope People Who Have Waited All These Years Aren't Disappointed'
Scott Kara of The New Zealand Herald recently conducted an interview with the legendary BLACK SABBATHsingerOzzy Osbourne. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.
On how BLACK SABBATH came to be such a respected band:
Osbourne: "It's a really weird thing, because what we did, we just did. We didn't go, 'Oh, we're going to write this way, and we're going to record that way, and it's going to come out like this'. And 45 years up the road who would have thought it's still going to be current and people were going to look upon it as the foundations of heavy metal? I mean, you don't realise that sort of thing, you just do it."
On not being completely confortable with BLACK SABBATH being considered originators of the "heavy metal" genre:
Osbourne: "Not everything BLACK SABBATH did was about the devil, or about heavy metal because 'Changes' was a beautiful song. But all they ever remember is that I sing about the devil and 'Iron Man', you know."
On how the members of BLACK SABBATH — with the exception of drummer Bill Ward, who is sitting out the band's reunion due to a contractual dispute — are getting along nowadays:
Osbourne: "What's different now is that none of us get drunk or stoned or any of that stuff. We're all clean, and all in control of ourselves, we're not intimidated by each other, there are no arguments, and it's the way it should be. But when we were kids we had egos. When you're 21 and you get some success it takes a while to get your head around. You have an ego, you have the spoils of success, the cars, the houses, the money, the alcohol, the drugs, the groupies, and all the rest of it, and if you go through all of that and you are lucky enough to survive you get married, you get divorced, you get married again, and it's a journey. But we've done it all so what it boils down to now is the music - and that's what got us where we are in the first place. We have come through the other side, we're still able to work together, and that's where the enjoyment comes from. It's been a lot of fun making this record."
On the recording sessions for the new BLACK SABBATH album, which were interrupted by guitarist Tony Iommi's diagnosis with lymphona at the beginning of this year:
Osbourne: "[The treatment] has been a bit rough on him but he still manages to come up with those great riffs. It's been more than 30 years since I really seriously worked with the guys. We had a try a few years back but nothing came of it. But for some reason the timing is right and we've done about 15 songs. BLACK SABBATH is very unique in the respect that nothing is formulated. It's very unpredictable. I just hope the people who have waited all these years aren't disappointed."

Kid Rock Debuts at #5 on Billboard 200; Led Zeppelin in at #9
Kid Rock and Led Zeppelin both scored top-ten positions on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week.
Kid Rock scored the #5 spot with his ninth studio album, Rebel Soul, which sold 146,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan. It's a bit of a drop from his previous release, 2010's Born Free, which also entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at #5, but moved 189,000 copies in its first week out. In addition, Rebel Soul is the first of Kid Rock’s albums to be sold digitally. The album debuted at #3 on the Digital Album Chart, racking up 57,000 downloads sold.
Meanwhile, Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day album sold 101,000 copies during its first week in stores to land at #9 on the tally. The release, which is available in a variety of audio and video formats, documents the legendary band's December 2007 reunion concert at London's O2 Arena. Celebration Day is Led Zeppelin's 13th album to reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200. The last official release from the band to do so was the 2007 hits compilation Mothership, which bowed at #7 in December of that year.

In addition, the Facebook post notes that Oliveri has also ”re-joined” his other band, Kyuss Lives!
The bassist joins Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Foo Fightersfrontman/former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl who are also working on tracks for the forthcoming QOTSA album.

Andrew WK “Disappointed and Puzzled” by Canceled Cultural Ambassador Trip to Bahrain
Andrew WK isn’t happy that his trip to the Middle Eastern country of Bahrain has been canceled.
Last week, the notoriously hard-partying singer posted a message on his website declaring that he'd accepted a State Department invitation to travel to the Middle Eastern country of Bahrain in December to “promote partying and positive power.” However, Andrew WK’s excitement about the trip was short-lived: senior embassy staff officially canceled the trek on Monday, citing concerns about the artist's work.
“I’m disappointed and puzzled by their change of heart and last-minute decision,” said Andrew WK in a statement on his website. “When I was originally invited by our contact, it seemed everyone was aware of what I stand for with my positive attitude. I was thrilled at the opportunity to represent my country and the spirit of inclusive and open-minded freedom that makes our nation so special and inspiring.”
The singer goes on to say that the trip had been in the works for over a year, noting that he’s upset that he went through an “extensive” background check and booked all his flights, only to have it canceled just one week before he was scheduled to leave.
“I would’ve done a great job and represented our nation with dignity and pride,” he explains. “Despite all these challenges, I still would love to go and I vow to continue partying, and working every day to unite our human race through the power of positive partying.”
Beastie Boys File Motion to Dismiss Copyright Lawsuit
The day before Adam "MCA" Yauch's death, the Beastie Boys and their music publishers and record company -- Universal Music, Brooklyn Dust Music and Capitol Records -- were slapped with a federal lawsuit in New York over alleged unauthorized use of copyrighted music on the group's first two albums. Now lawyers for the Beasties are asking a judge to dismiss the suit.
In the suit, TufAmerica claims that copyrighted recordings it controls of Trouble Funk’s "Say What" and "Drop the Bomb" were sampled without approval on the Beasties’ 1986 debut album Licensed to Ill and their 1989 album Paul's Boutique.
According to documents cited by The Hollywood Reporter, attorneys for the Beastie Boys filed a motion to dismiss the suit on Monday claiming that the action comes well after the “Copyright Act's three-year statute of limitations.”
TufAmerica aruges that it took so long for the case to be filed because the allegedly “concealed” Trouble Funk samples were only recently discovered “after conducting a careful audio analysis.”
The Beastie's legal team argues that if it is true that any use of copyrighted material was so disguised as to take more than 20 years to discover, then TufAmerica can't prove "substantial similarity" between the material it controls and the Beastie's material -- a key test in a copyright infringement case. In the document cited by The Hollywood Reporter, the Beasties lawyers write that if “the casual observer cannot identify Plaintiff's musical compositions and sound recordings...there can be no substantial similarity."

SEVENDUST Plays Snippet Of New Song At Orlando Concert
SEVENDUST played a short snippet of a new song during the band's November 25 concert at the House Of Blues in Orlando, Florida. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below.
SEVENDUST's ninth album, "Black Out The Sun", is tentatively due in April 2013. The CD was recorded at Architekt Music studios in Butler, New Jersey with engineer Mike Ferretti.
"The craziest thing about this record is finishing it in about a month," guitarist John Connolly told Revolver magazine. "We haven't done that since our debut album [1997's self-titled effort]. This is one of the fastest records we've ever made, but also one of the strongest — working off instinct mostly."
According to Connolly, SEVENDUST's forthcoming CD finds the band exploring "a darker vibe," but "there's still plenty of melody," he added. "The record fits right in with 'Animosity' [2002], 'Alpha' [2007], and our self-titled album. Lots of heavy stuff and some more mellow, moody songs as well It's a nice balance of what makes for the SEVENDUST sound."
Songtitles set to appear on the 12-track CD, which was produced by the bandmembers themselves, include "Mountain" and "Murder Bar". The latter was reportedly inspired by a Butler, New Jersey bar across from the hotel where SEVENDUST was staying while recording the new CD. Rumor had it the place was popular with many of New Jersey's murderers.
"It's a basic SEVENDUST record," guitarist Clint Lowery recently told"Source Of The Sound With Wendy Campbell". "There's nothing, like, too completely different than anything we've done before. It's got a darker vibe to it. We've got a good amount of the programming element in there. It's a lot of what we do — it's heavy and it's got its melodic element in it. So if you're a SEVENDUST fan, it's more along the lines of the second and third records we did — it's kind of like that. It's got a couple of throwback vibes to it. 'Animosity' and 'Home' [1999], if I can put those two records together, it would [sound similar to the new CD]."
SEVENDUST's last CD, "Cold Day Memory", sold around 27,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band's previous effort, "Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow", opened with 25,000 units back in April 2008 to land at position No. 19.
"Cold Day Memory" was released on April 20, 2010 on the band's own7Bros. Records, through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group.
DROWNING POOL's New Lineup Interviewed On 'Custom Trends' TV Show
Texas heavy rockers DROWNING POOL were recently interviewed on the"Custom Trends" TV show on the Kpxb-ION Network. You can now watch the chat below.
DROWNING POOL's video for the song "Saturday Night" was directed by Jon Bertorelli and produced by Daniel Livschultz, both of Vulpine Films. The track comes off the band's fifth album, which is due out in early 2013 viaEleven Seven Music. The band teamed up with producer Kato Khandwalla at House of Loud Studios in New Jersey, as well as John Feldmann (THE USED, STORY OF THE YEAR), and completed the album in Dallas.
"Saturday Night" is the first video to be made available with DROWNING POOL's fourth singer, Jasen Moreno, who replaced Ryan McCombs.
McCombs exited the group at the end of 2011 after a six-year stint in the lineup. He sang on two studio efforts by DROWNING POOL, 2007's "Full Circle" and 2010's self-titled fourth album.
Moreno, who previously sang in fellow Texas band THE SUICIDE HOOK, made his live debut as a member of DROWNING POOL on July 8 at a club in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
According to a press release: "Not only is the adrenaline-inducing video for'Saturday Night' the first look at Moreno as lead man, it's a rebel rousing point-of-view following one man's eventful evening and includesDROWNING POOL fans. The band called out to fans via Facebook and included them in the performance footage as well as the motel party scene."
Commented DROWNING POOL bassist Stevie Benton: "'Saturday Night'is a song about squeezing the most out of every single day of your life. It's about enjoying yourself and not apologizing for a damn thing. The video follows an average guy in his quest to 'party like a rock star.' The next time you are sitting around doing nothing, we hope this song inspires you to make something happen."
Another new DROWNING POOL song called "In Memory Of…" was released in August to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the passing of the band's original singer, Dave Williams.
Williams died on tour in 2002 after singing on the band's debut, "Sinner". He was replaced by Jason "Gong" Jones, who also contributed to one record, "Desensitized", before being shown the door in 2004.
In a posting on the band's official Facebook page, DROWNING POOLguitarist C.J. Pierce wrote, "It's been a real pleasure for all of us working with Jasen Moreno. He jumped right in and stepped up to the plate. He's everything we hoped for in a singer."
He continued, "Jasen came in and got straight to work on new music for our next CD. Out of respect to all past singers, and most importantly theDROWNING POOL fans, he learned every song from every CD we've made in the past as well.
"Jasen has brought us not only a new voice but a new fire to theDROWNING POOL sound. We all can't wait to get the new music out to there to everyone with the live show.
"Looking forward to the rest of our career with Jasen. The singer switch is finally over!"
In an exclusive interview in the September 2012 issue of Guitar Worldmagazine, Moreno said, "I am extremely happy and very grateful to be a part of the DROWNING POOL family. Everyone's been so welcoming, especially the fans. I can't praise them enough. They've made me feel right at home. This first run of live shows couldn't have gone any better!"
DROWNING POOL is:

RANDY BLYTHE On Manslaughter Charge: 'I Am Innocent, I Believe That In My Heart Of Hearts'
LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe was released from a prison in Prague on August 2, more than a month after he was arrested and incarcerated. Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a 2010 incident in which a fan attending a LAMB OF GOD show died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.
Randy spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer about his ordeal and how he plans to spend the next few weeks while he awaits word from the Czech Republic about whether he will have to return in order to face trial. A couple of excerpts from the chat — which can be found in the October 2012 issue of the magazine — follow below.
Metal Hammer: The statement you put out was very respectful to the family involved and obviously that was important to you.
Blythe: "It was hugely important. That's the worst thing about this. Going to prison sucks, and being in prison is not fun, but what I went through and the uncertainty I face now is absolutely nothing compared to what this family is going through. They lost their son and that's about as bad as it gets for a human being, to lose a child. That's not supposed to happen. I can't claim responsibility for this because I am innocent, I believe that in my heart of hearts; if I thought I was guilty, then I wouldn't even have accepted bail. I was raised by very moral parents who said you have to face up and take responsibility for your actions. But I believe I'm innocent… I know I'm innocent."
Metal Hammer: Do you even remember the gig or was it just another show?
Blythe: "It was the first time we'd ever played in Prague so I remember that. I remember I read during the day, and I remember that gig and a lot of people being onstage. Then as soon as I got off stage, my publicist called, and told me Paul Gray [SLIPKNOT] was dead. This was right after we got off stage. All of that makes that show memorable."
Metal Hammer: You weren't aware of anyone getting hurt?
Blythe: "No, there's people that get hurt at every metal show, but it's not like we ran away after the show. We were there until late in the morning, the crew was unloading and I was sitting out in the alleyway calling people because people were blowing up my phone like, 'Is it true that Paul Grayis dead?' I was very sad and I spent a lot of time talking, but the show itself, I just remember a ton of people being onstage who should not have been onstage. We had no knowledge that anyone was hurt. But, like I said about the parents, my feelings about the justice or injustice of this has nothing to do with the reality that they are totally suffering through this. They need some answers and I feel ethically obliged, if I'm called to trial, to at least give my side of the story and explain to the best of my knowledge what happened so they can get some closure. I don't have guilt over this because I am innocent, but it feels awful inside to me, terrible. A fan of the band is dead and his family suffering. It's a very unfortunate situation and one I'd rather not have to deal with, but if you're a good human being, an adult and a responsible, compassionate human being, then you show up and do the right thing, and that's going and giving these people some answers."
Metal Hammer: What does this mean, not just for LAMB OF GOD, but for future metal shows? Clearly there wasn't enough security, but at the same time people do stagedive and it is dangerous.
Blythe: "Yeah, I had 44 stitches right in my head from a BRUTAL TRUTHshow. I left the stage at Milwaukee Metalfest and split my skull open and had to go to the hospital. When you crowd surf or go into a moshpit, or somehow make it to the stage, you have to realize you can get hurt. I have the scars and the broken bones to prove it because I've been going to shows since I was a kid. If anything good comes out of this, it would be the need for trained security who are aware of what goes on at a show and the type of energy and dancing, so they're not only there to keep the band safe, but to keep the audience safe. We've seen kids coming over the barrier and we've often yelled at security. I can't put on a good show if I'm worried about my fans getting hurt. There needs to be adequate security because this stuff is dangerous! There's an inherent danger in jumping off a stage and I've done it again and again and again."
Metal Hammer: Does it make you more wary of inviting contact with the audience?
Blythe: "Well, we're at a point where, long before this show, people don't need to be getting on stage, because they run into you and can knock you off or run into the equipment and you can't play. But the whole stagediving thing is a real touchy thing and it's hard to explain to people who aren't in this. Someone will come whipping past me who's made it past security and got onstage, they run and jump, clear the barricade and I'm often like, 'Good job! That was badass!' What am I gonna do, get mad? I did the same when I was a kid! But at the same time, if you're gonna do that, you have to accept the fact that you might break your fucking neck, or someone else's. I've stagedived a lot in our career and I always back way up and make sure people see I'm coming, because I don't want to break someone's neck. This has definitely made me more wary about stagediving myself, not for my security but for everybody's. I skateboard and I've busted myself up. I could have broken my neck or killed myself, and that's a risk I take and I accept that risk because it's something I like to do. If people do this stuff, they need to realize that."
Metal Hammer: Obviously you can't plan too far ahead since you don't know if you'll be facing trial. what's next for you?
Blythe: "I don't know if I'll have to go back or not. I'm assuming I will. I'm assuming it will be in December or January, but we'll tour the States starting in October for a month or so. We have to make some money because the legal bills are exorbitant. We had to borrow that bail money and it's almost half a million dollars. None of us make the kind of money to be able to pay that off no worries. And the way we make money is by playing shows, but we can't play shows if I'm in prison. One tour already got cancelled and we had a meeting today talking about the mechanics of keeping the business running when money is just bleeding out. It's difficult, but it's better than being in prison. And I will go back. I'm a man of my word and I told the judge I would go back. As I've previously expressed, I think it's the ethical thing to do."
Metal Hammer: What's the worst-case scenario?
Blythe: "Ten years with no time off for good behavior. For my particular charge — we're saying manslaughter, but it's assault in the fourth degree with intent, resulting in the death of this young man — the sentence for that is five to 10 years with no time off. So the worst-case scenario is that get out when I'm 51, 52 years old. It's not something I really try to dwell on too much, because it's scary. I don't want to go to prison, I don't want that to happen, but the fact of the matter is it could happen. I will deal with it as it comes, that's all! can do. If you have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you're pissing on the present. And right now, all! have is the present so I prepare myself the best I can. My band is behind me and my family's behind me and we're gonna do our best to prove my innocence. But worrying about a nebulous uncertain future, or being super-bummed out that l went to prison for 37 days does me no good."
The entire interview can be found in the October 2012 issue of Metal Hammer, which can be ordered at this location.

Perry Farrell Promises Next Jane’s Addiction Tour Will Be “Theatrical”
Perry Farrell is cooking up something special for Jane’s Addiction’s next tour. The singer says the band’s upcoming fifth studio album has inspired him to create a unique stage show.
"The next album is going to be something that the world has never experienced," Farrell tells Billboard.com. "I'm building it simultaneously with the live show in mind…It's going to be theatrical and we're going to take it to another level. I want to really give you a new experience.”
The singer adds that he wrote “close to 60 songs” for the forthcoming release while he was laid up in bed, recovering from a recent knee surgery. "I was kind of forced to write and I'm just having such a great time and it's coming out so well,” he explains. “When you take that much time to write and think about music and the show, good things are going to happen."
Farrell says that he hopes to release the new Jane's album sometime in 2013.
Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan Says It’s “Nobody’s Business” When Next Slipknot Album Comes Out
For months now, members of Slipknot have expressed different opinions about when the band expects to begin recording their first album without late bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010. Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan says that fans shouldn’t be focused on when they can get new music from the band.
“It’s kind of nobody’s business what we’re gonna do, when we’re gonna do it, how we’re gonna do it,” Crahan tells ABC News Radio. “We’re musicians. I’m writing music every day of my life, my singer’s writing lyrics every day of his life, other people in the band are writing songs, that’s never gonna stop but when, how and all that…everybody’s just gotta wait and see.”
Crahan adds that if Gray was still alive, fans would already have the band’s fifth studio album in their record collections. “If Paul wouldn’t have passed we’d actually be finalizing our fifth record cycle right now,” he explains. “Instead of going out and writing, we decided to sporadically tour and share the loss with our fans.”
While Slipknot is currently on a break, the band has scheduled two festival appearances for 2013. They will be performing headlining sets at the inaugural Ozzfest Japan in May and at the U.K.’s Download Festival in June.

The Black Keys have settled the lawsuits they filed against Home Depot and Pizza Hut in June, in which they claimed the companies used their music without permission.
The band stated that Home Depot used parts of their hit "Lonely Boy" in a power tools commercial. They further claimed Pizza Hut sampled another song, "Gold on the Ceiling," in a commercial for its Cheesy Bites Pizza.
The terms of the settlements have not been disclosed.

Mother Of Ailing DEFTONES Bassist Gives Update On His Condition
?
According to The Pulse Of Radio, the mother of DEFTONES bassist Chi Cheng has posted a lengthy message online giving an update on Cheng's condition and the possibility of new treatments for him. Cheng has been in a semi-comatose state for more than four years after being seriously injured in a car accident in November 2008. In addition to not recovering full consciousness, Cheng has been in and out of hospitals for various infections as his family has struggled with the mounting costs of care since he lost his health insurance a few months after the accident.
According to Cheng's mother, Cheng is currently living in a rented house and attended by family members and various medical assistants. He is unable to speak, yet can move his legs on command. His family recently had to sell Cheng's childhood home due to legal complications after his father died in April, although they've managed to buy a new one and are waiting for it to be repainted before moving in.
The family is considering stem cell therapy as one possible treatment forCheng. His brother Ming recently told Revolver, "They don't even do it (stem cell therapy) in the U.S. yet. It's a miracle he's still with us. He's alive and kicking and he's fighting, and I think there's a reason for it. I'm hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Chi."
Despite his several battles with pneumonia, breathing problems and other setbacks, Cheng's mother wrote that her son "seems intent on staying around a while longer. Since you all have been such a huge part of making that possible, we have so much gratitude for your support and prayers . . . The love and compassion that you give Chi and us makes our world such a better place."
DEFTONES have held several benefit concerts and continue to donate money from the band's tours. Singer Chino Moreno said that the group's fans have continued to help as well. "Whatever people can do, it's all appreciated, and it's all just in the hopes that there will be one day where he can talk back and have a conversation and see his kids and, you know, continue on living, you know," he said. "That's what we pray and hope for, you know what I mean, that's all we can do."
DEFTONES issued their seventh studio album, titled "Koi No Yokan", on November 13. The CD entered the Billboard album chart at No. 11 with sales of 65,000 copies.
The disc follows up 2010's "Diamond Eyes" and is the second recorded with bassist Sergio Vega filling in for Cheng.
HINDER: New Song Available For Streaming
"Anyone But You", a brand new song from HINDER, can be streamed using the audio player below (courtesy of AOL's Noisecreep). The track comes off the band's fourth album, "Welcome To The Freakshow", which will be released on December 4 via Republic Records.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, HINDER frontman Austin Winkler toldBillboard on that a "really dark drug binge" fueled much of his songwriting on "Welcome To The Freakshow". Winkler explained to The Pulse Of Radio what his state of mind was during this tough period. "I was in a very, very, very dark addiction, and you can kind of hear the turmoil in my voice and stuff like that," he said. "And, you know, as soon as we got the record done I went into treatment to get help, and it's interesting to go back and listen to it now."
Winkler told Billboard that he entered rehab as soon as the record was finished. The album follows 2010's "All American Nightmare".
The first single, "Save Me", touches on Winkler's struggle, with him saying, "I had a really nasty attitude in that song, but I had a blast singing and recording it. I think it's our heaviest single yet, and we're getting a pretty good response."
The vocalist called the new disc "really diverse," adding that "it's going to surprise a lot of people."
HINDER plans to mount a full tour once 2013 rolls around.

Andrew WK, a Cultural Ambassador? State Dept. Says Not So Fast
Andrew WK has been appointed as a cultural ambassador to Bahrain. At least, that's according to Andrew WK. The U.S. State Department, however, says not so fast.
In a message posted on Andrew WK's website Friday, the notoriously hard-partying singer declares that he's accepted a State Department invitation to travel to the Middle Eastern country of Bahrain in December to “promote partying and positive power.” He goes on to say he'll visit “elementary schools, the University of Bahrain, music venues, and more, all while promoting partying and world peace.” He concludes, "I feel very privileged and humbled by the chance to represent the United States of America and show the good people of Bahrain the power of positive partying. I can hardly wait for this adventure!”
If the idea of Andrew WK acting as an official cultural ambassador sounds odd to you, you're apparently not alone. A State Department spokesperson tells ABC News Radio, “While Andrew WK was invited to participate in a cultural speakers program in Bahrain, the embassy says that the program was a mistake and didn’t meet our standards, so it was canceled."
Further confirmation came at Monday's State Department press briefing, when spokesperson Victoria Nuland said an entity in Bahrain approached the embassy about co-sponsoring an event with Andrew WK, which was initially approved. However, it was canceled upon further review by senior embassy staff, who decided it wouldn't be an appropriate use of U.S. funds.
Kid Rock to Re-Record Devil Without a Cause in 2013
Kid Rock is planning to re-record his best-selling album, Devil Without a Cause, in honor of the 15th anniversary of its release. Rock says that he plans on dropping his re-imagined version of the 1998 album in August.
"Some of [the songs] will be exactly like they were and some of them will have the sensibilities of what we've learned playing those songs live for 15 years," Rock tellsBillboard.com. "I'm not going to say they're going to be better than the originals; that's tough to top. But I think…we've twisted them up so much to where it's very interesting, very cool."
Rock added that he also hopes to schedule a concert dedicated to Devil Without a Causesometime next year. "That seems like a fun thing that fans seem to like with other bands doing it," he explains. "Even though it's not the most original idea at this point, I think it would be something cool for the fans to see."

According to TMZ.com, LIMP BIZKIT's DJ Lethal(real name Leor Dimant) is being sued by a driver who alleges that Lethal crashed into her last December. The woman has hired famed personal-injury lawyer Larry H. Parker — who has won 91 percent of his cases — to represent her, and is seeking an undisclosed amount. In the claim, which was filed on November 5 in Los Angeles, she alleges she suffered physical injuries, loss of wages and damages to her car after Lethal smashed into her on the 101 freeway.
Lethal tells TMZ.com he's not worried about the lawsuit. "It was a fender bender," he said. "No one got hurt. Cops were on the scene and no one complained of injuries. I had no idea there was even a lawsuit." As forParker, Lethal said, "That dude must be hurting for cash taking on a fender bender. I haven't seen a commercial from him in years. That commission on the 2.1-million guy must be long gone on hair plugs and Viagra."

Soundgarden Debuts at #5 on Billboard 200; Green Day in at #9
Soundgarden and Green Day both scored positions in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week.
Soundgarden scored the #5 spot with their first album in 16 years, King Animal, which sold 83,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan. While King Animal’s first-week sales performance is impressive, it doesn’t come close to the initial success of the band's previous release, 1996's Down on the Upside, which racked up 176,000 copies in its first week and claimed the #2 spot on the list.
Meanwhile, the second installment of Green Day’s trilogy, ¡Dos!, clocked in at #9 with 69,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. ¡Dos! didn’t do as well as the band’s previous release, ¡Uno!, which debuted and peaked at #2 on the tally, selling 139,000 copies its first week out. Green Day’s final album in the series, ¡Tré!, will arrive in stores on December 11.
Green Day to Release New Documentary, ¡Quatro!, in 2013
Green Day wants to give you an inside look at what the band went through while making their album trilogy. The band has revealed that they’ve created a new documentary, ¡Quatro!, which will be released sometime in 2013. The film features a number of the band’s live performances in select cities across the U.S. as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the band in the studio.
"Over the last year while we were recording our trilogy, we posted multiple clips every week so fans can see parts of the recording process of ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!," said bassistMike Dirnt in a statement. "¡Quatro! brings our fans one step closer by giving them even more access and revealing what it was like for us to make these records."
Highlights from the upcoming film will premiere on VH1 on November 28 at midnight.
Scott Weiland Campaigns for Velvet Revolver Reunion; Talks New Solo Album
Scott Weiland is still hoping that he can reunite with Velvet Revolver. The singer says that he’s ready to put any differences aside and make some new music with his former band mates.
"I think it's the perfect time for Velvet Revolver to get back together," Weiland tellsRolling Stone. "I think that's exciting to look forward to. It's the old cliché, 'If the gods of rock want it to happen, then it will.'"
Weiland adds that if he returns to Velvet Revolver, he hopes that the guys will take advantage of making music for other projects. “There have been some things that have stood in the way [of a reunion] that aren't anything that have to do with the band,” he explains. “But now we're sorting through things, and we want to start writing for some big film opportunities that have come our way, and try to set things up the way we set things up when we initially got together.”
Whether he gets back together with Velvet Revolver or not, Weiland reveals that he plans on taking some time off from his other band, Stone Temple Pilots, to work on a new solo album in 2013 with his new solo band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts.
"I think the band needs to take some time off and be creative again,” he notes. “I don’t think that touring consistently with a greatest hits package gets you anywhere. It diminishes things."
Dave Grohl Talks “Completely Ridiculous” Recording Sessions with Queens of the Stone Age for Upcoming Album
As previously reported, Foo Fighters frontman/former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl is back behind the drum kit for Queens of the Stone Age’s forthcoming new album. During an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Grohl says he’s enjoying the creative freedom that the band is giving him for the new tracks.
“With Queens of the Stone Age, like, there were no boundaries with that band, there were no limits with them, it was like if you did something insane, you’d do more,” he explains. “I’ll do something so completely ridiculous, I’ll [think], 'There’s no way that thatJosh [Homme] isn’t going to let me do that,' and he’ll say, 'Do that for forty-five seconds, over and over again, that’s become, like, part of the song, that is a big part of the song,' and that’s the way they work.”
Grohl adds that he has an enormous amount of respect for the band and is thrilled to be working with them again. "When you walk into a festival backstage with Queens of the Stone Age, it’s like, the record stops,” he notes. “People stop and they stare, and it’s like, Queens of the Stone Age are, without question, the baddest rock and roll band in the world! And they still are.”
A title and release date for the forthcoming album has yet to be announced.
Perry Farrell Looking to Record Next Jane’s Addiction Album in 2013
It appears that Jane’s Addiction fans won’t have to wait another eight years for the band to drop their next album. Frontman Perry Farrell says he’s been busy writing “over 60 songs” for the band’s fifth studio album over the last few months while at home recovering from a recent surgery.
"I haven't written this much or been this prolific since I started when I was in my 20s," Farrell tells Rolling Stone. "It's been coming out fantastic. I'm super excited. Everything will really start to jell and come together probably this time next year."
The singer adds that the band will be exploring some new creative avenues for the forthcoming release. "It's not going to be [a continuation of] The Great Escape Artist," he explains. "I just came up with this other twist to doing the next record. At this point I want to start fresh with a fresh angle."
Puddle of Mudd's Wes Scantlin Cleared of Public Intoxication Charge
Wes Scantlin of Puddle of Mudd has had charges dropped against him following an alleged drunken brawl on a JetBlue flight, according to TMZ.com.
The singer was arrested in September in Austin, Texas, after a plane on which he was traveling was forced to make an emergency landing following an argument between Scantlin and a flight attendant. Scantlin, who was charged with public intoxication, insisted that he did nothing wrong.
He was reportedly cleared of the charge last week due to “insufficient evidence.”
Scantlin could have faced a prison sentence if the charge had stood. He struck a plea deal for cocaine possession in July that required him to stay out of trouble for 18 months.
Beck Working on New Studio Album
While Beck stunned fans earlier this year by announcing that his next release would be a book of sheet music, Beck Hansen’s Song Reader, the singer has now revealed that he’s working on a new studio album.
Speaking on Australian radio station Triple J, Beck says that he’s been working on the forthcoming album for quite a while and will release the tracks in a “pretty much standard format.”
“I started a record, largely recorded in 2008, so I’m trying to carve out some time from all the production work I’m doing to finish those songs before they become records from a lost era,” he explains. “It’s going on a half-decade at this point.”
While we wait for Beck’s next album, you can pick up Beck Hansen’s Song Reader on December 7. The 108-page book features sheet music for twenty new songs, including two instrumentals, along with original artwork from more than a dozen different artists.
"Drink Drank Drunk", the new video from HELLYEAH, can be seen below. The clip was filmed on May 27 at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma.
"Drink Drank Drunk" comes off HELLYEAH's third album, "Band Of Brothers", which sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Released on July 17 via HELLYEAH's new label home, Eleven Seven Music, "Band Of Brothers" was recorded in Dallas, Texas at Vinnie Paul Abbott's home studio, VP's Upstairs Studio, and was produced by the band and Jeremy Parker (GODSMACK, EVANESCENCE), who also served as engineer. Gray told The Pulse Of Radio that the album represents the first time that the members of the band have fully embraced their musical roots. "It's definitely my favorite HELLYEAH record to date, for sure," he said. "I think the first couple were kind of experiments and stuff, and I think we kind of kept what we've done individually away from HELLYEAH, with our, you know, previous bands and stuff, and this time it was like we just kind of said, 'Screw it,' we just kind of quit being afraid to be ourselves. I'm really, really proud of it, I think we all are."
The band has stated that "Band Of Brothers" is a heavier, more metal-sounding effort that either its self-titled 2007 debut or 2010's"Stampede".

DARK NEW DAY: 'Lost' Album 'Hail Mary' To Be Released In February
Pavement Entertainment has acquired the rights to the "long-lost" "Hail Mary" album from DARK NEW DAY — the band featuring Clint Lowery(guitar; SEVENDUST), Corey Lowery (bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO), Brett Hestla (vocals, guitar; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT), Will Hunt (drums; EVANESCENCE, ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) and Bradley "BC" Kochmit (guitar; SWITCHED a.k.a. SW1TCHED). The CD was to be the follow-up to the group's debut effort, "Twelve Year Silence", but it was never released.
"Hail Mary" will finally be made available on February 19, 2013 and will be distributed via MRI/RED in North America and SPV in Europe. The CD contains "twelve tracks of in-your-face hard rock that only DARK NEW DAY can deliver," according to a press release.
Commented Hunt: "We in DARK NEW DAY are extremely excited that our 'lost' album is finally going to get the proper release and treatment it deserves. We're excited for fans to hear what two years of writing, struggle, and growth did for us. You'll hear a band that wasn't afraid to embrace experimentation and forge new sonic territory. You'll also hear a band at times grind out some of the darkest, heaviest, lyrically intense music of its career. This record is sonically amazing and we're very proud of it. We hope that this is just a stepping stone to another record in the very near future. Enjoy!"
Tim King, director of A&R for Pavement, states: “I've been a fan ofDARK NEW DAY ever since I bought the debut at Best Buy back in 2005 (yes, I supported my friends and bought the album!!). As their A&R guy, I'm thrilled to be able to work 'Hail Mary', but as a fan I'm even more excited to let everyone finally hear this amazing album."
DARK NEW DAY may have been new to fans of the bandmembers' previous groups, but it was really a reunion that was twelve years in the making, as the members of DARK NEW DAY literally grew up together. Brothers Clint and Corey Lowery and childhood friend Troy McLawhornmet singer Brett Hestla and drummer Will Hunt while touring as kids in the Southeast club circuit. "We were playing a circuit that had a lot of older people in it, in their twenties, and we were all kids, so we could identify with each other," said Hunt in a 2005 interview. "We really came into ourselves on that circuit," added Corey. "It was like going to rock 'n' roll high school — you'd always try and turn it up because you wanted to impress each other."
SHINEDOWN Vocalist BRENT SMITH On Past, Present And Future
Chris Epting of AOL's Noisecreep recently conducted an interview withSHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith. You can now watch the chat below.
SHINEDOWN only just released its fourth album, "Amaryllis", earlier this year, but Brent Smith told NME TV in a new interview that he has a surprise for fans. Smith revealed, "I've thought about new material. It's funny because — and you're actually the very first person I'll tell this too — we've actually, we have another record of material. It's actually recorded."
While not giving any details on what the album is called or when it might surface, Smith said about the music, "It's still very massive. It has a very epic feel to it, but the tempos are a little slower and the subject matter is a little different. I would say it's actually a bit darker — a little bit more mischievous."
Smith also did not indicate whether the new disc was recorded at the same time as "Amaryllis" — which is quite possible since that set took 14 months to complete.
SHINEDOWN will head out on the road with THREE DAYS GRACE and special guests P.O.D. beginning on February 1 in Moline, Illinois.
"Amaryllis", which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart, has produced the hit singles "Bully", "Unity" and "Enemies".

Scott Weiland Is Engaged
Scott Weiland is getting hitched…for the third time. The Stone Temple Pilots frontman has recently gotten engaged to his girlfriend, photographer Jamie Wachtel, Rolling Stone is reporting.
"I am incredibly happy," Weiland tells Rolling Stone. "She is incredibly beautiful in every aspect of the word. We're getting married in the spring, and our families will be living together…she's the greatest thing that's happened to me in a long, long time."
Weiland met Wachtel while the singer was filming music videos for his 2011 Christmas album, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. "I had fallen in love a couple times in my life and then for a long time, I've been very disappointed and to the point where I've been resolved to the fact that possibly it would never happen again and almost accepted that it would be OK,” he explains. “And then I met her."
In other Weiland news, the singer is about to embark on a five-date solo tour which kicks off on November 25 at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA. The trek will make stops at the Highline Ballroom in New York City on November 26, The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ on November 28, Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore on November 29 and at the Ricochet Bar & Lounge in Miami on December 2. Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan: Mellon Collie Mixed "Nihilism, Sentimentality and Epic Hope"
On December 3, The Smashing Pumpkins will continue their re-release program by putting out special editions of their 1995 album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
Frontman Billy Corgan says that Mellon Collie was about “capturing the spirit of the times” and not about making a perfect album. “Mellon Collie is weird in that it's a combination of nihilism, sentimentality and epic hope,” the singer tells Rolling Stone. “That was where the generation was at that moment.”
Corgan adds that the album was the appropriate creative “swan song” for the band’s original lineup. “It really was the last time the four of us worked together in earnest,” the singer tells Rolling Stone. “And maybe I picked up on that; maybe I sensed that and maybe that had something to do with the sort of the desperation and the approach to try and get as much as possible out of it.” Mellon Collie will be available in a variety of formats, including standard and deluxe digital versions and a vinyl package. All versions will include a remastered edition of the original album, while the deluxe versions will include 64 previously unreleased or alternate versions of Mellon Collie-era tracks. The physical version of the deluxe package will also include a live DVD documenting a 1996 concert at Brixton Academy in London, as well as a few performances the band made on the German TV series Rockpalast that same year.

Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE are currently mixing their new album with veteran British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH,TESTAMENT, EXODUS, ACCEPT, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE) for an early 2013 release via Roadrunner Records. The recording sessions for the CD were overseen by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, an acclaimed producer in his own right who has previously worked with ALL THAT REMAINS, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and AS I LAY DYING, among others.
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's forthcoming album will mark the return of the band's original vocalist, Jesse Leach, who rejoined the group earlier this year following the departure of Howard Jones after nine years and three successful albums. Having Leach — who had appeared on the band's first two albums and more recently played with Dutkiewicz in a new project,TIMES OF GRACE — back in the fold has "felt 100 percent natural," Adamtells Guitar World magazine. "Jesse sounds a little different from Howard — he's obviously not a big black man," he says with a laugh. "But he's bringing his own thing to it."
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE fans have already had the opportunity to hear one of the cuts that will appear on the upcoming CD: a rough mix of the song"No End In Sight" was recently leaked online, and as a result the band has started playing it live. "It's actually the one tune that's pretty different from the other stuff," Dutkiewicz tells Guitar World. "Overall the rest of the album is a little faster, a little meaner, a little growlier — thrashy but with lots of clean parts. We're going a little more extreme this time."
In an interview with the "Brock And The Fatguy" radio show, Leachstated about KILLSWITCH ENGAGEd's new material, "People are gonna be really surprised; [we're] setting the bar up high once again. It's really fast and it's really heavy. It's not what people are going to anticipate, I'm sure. I literally am getting chills right now talking about it. It's gonna blow the doors off people, man. It's gonna be great."
Leach sang on the band's first self-titled album, which came out in 2000, and on their landmark release, 2002's genre-defining "Alive Or Just Breathing".
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's April 22 performance at at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival marked the band's first concert with Leach in more than nine years.
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Alive Or Just Breathing" by performing the entire album during their U.S. headlining tour in November/December. Support on the trek will come from SHADOWS FALL and ACARO.

SOIL Singer Defends Band's Decision To Launch Fundraising Campaign For New Album
SOIL singer Ryan McCombs has defended the band's decision to launch an interactive pre-sale campaign on Kickstarter to enable fans to participate in the release of the band's forthcoming album. Fans will receive exclusive shirts, a chance to have dinner with the band, autographed merchandise, attend studio sessions, an exclusive new MP3 download of the first studio song with McCombs since 2004's "Redefine"album and more. They also will be the first to receive the new album when it's released.
After a SOIL fan posted a message on the band's Facebook page calling the musicians "cheap motherfuckers" and telling them to "use [their] own money to record [their] music and not ask the fans like him, who have " always paid top price" for their CDs, McCombs responded in the following way: "I hope that, before assuming we were asking for handouts, you went to the Kickstarter site where you can see that we are actually offering opportunities to people to do things and recieve things they normally wouldn't. And, in fact, the most basic package is only asking you to pay for the CD beforehand, allowing the money to go to making an pushing the hell out of this CD the right way instead of lining a disk jockeys' pockets.
"Please understand if we had the money that our music has made others over the years instead of being on the bottom of the food chain within the business we've been in, we would gladly fund it. Without question. The industry is a mess.
"Here is one of many simple facts that would leave you scratching your head: I personally have NEVER recieved a dime for the sales of any CD I have been a part of. The contracts you sign are set up to make that so. But you sign it 'cause if you don't, there are a million bands that will.
"I am sure that the music I have been a part of has bought plenty of cars and made plenty of house payments for many managers and the types over the years.
"Because your CD is on the same shelf as METALLICA's doesn't mean you're making METALLICA money.
"The industry is fucked. For every METALLICA, there are hundreds of bands such as ourselves counting on the shows we play to pay the monthly bills at home.
"I didn't like this option, but it is a possible answer that allows a band to control their fate, and again, offers special things to the fans that allow us to do what we do. I'm sorry this pisses you off so much, as I realize you don't know the financial facts of most bands in the industry. What we are doing here is risking taking the unpaved road in hopes of finding a way for bands like ourselves to survive. The paved road has led to the utter destruction of so many bands that deserved so much more. If taking the unpaved road leads to success, then perhaps it opens the door for others to follow and survive as well."
"For a band that is signed to a label, they HAVE to sell CDs. Do they get royally screwed? HELL YES!!! But if they do not sell enough CDs to be viewed as worthwhile by the label, they will get dropped.
"I had a conversation with a teenage fan once that just couldn't see what was wrong with illegally downloading a CD. Until, that is, I asked him what his Dad did for a living. He happened to be an auto worker. I then asked him, 'What if tomorrow EVERYONE in the world could come to your Dad's auto plant and drive off with any car they wanted, free of charge? How long will your Dad have a job if the product he creates doesn't make the owner of the company money?' It took a quick second but the light came on and he got it.
"If a band you like is employed by a label, buying the CD is absolutely supporting them... It's buying that product that they create.
"If I meet a band on the road and I like the people in the band, I go out and buy the CD. If friends within the industry release a new CD, I go buy the CD. It keeps them being able to do what they do, employment-wise. They aren't making shit off of it, but their boss is and that will keep them employed.
"What is happening more and more frequently is that even if a band can stay employed, eventually they, or members of the band, will reach a point that their cut isn't taking care of the bills at home and they have to choose between family/obligation and a dream that has ended up being very different then the one they had as an aspiring musician.
"We have survived as long as we have because of the support that people like yourself have given us for 12 years. I could never thank people enough for that. But because of the state of things in the industry through those years, we are where we are but we're not ready to fold our cards yet. There needs to be change.
"Like I stated before, this path is unpaved and a bit scary, but we have made a lot of connections over the years and we know a lot about the steps needed to hopefully be successful in this venture. If we are, perhaps we will give an alternative method to those kick-ass bands that fall though the cracks year after year after year.
"Hopefully you went and looked at the Kickstarter site and saw that we aren't asking for handouts. I couldn't be a part of that. We are simply offering the CD and packages to anyone interested. People like you that have always went out and bought that CD to help that band. We're just actually using that help to make the CD and not buy an executive's new car. We are trying to raise the funding for the recording and mixing of the CD. Anything else from the Kickstarter above and beyond will go towards helping out with the marketing, radio, publicity, etc. It's going to be tough, but for once in our careers, we'll be calling the shots, making the calls. I, too, have paid for many, many demos in my day.. but there is a large budget difference between a demo or shopping quality CD and the type you have to have for a chance at radio, movies, TV, etc. I know those are outlets that by us being allowed to be us musically may not have wide open doors to us, but I also think people are a little tired of the cookie cutter.
"We ran through a door in Chicago that DISTURBED kicked open years ago.. No ego here,.. it's the truth. If another door isn't kicked open soon, the rock/metal genre is going to be the way of the dinosaur."
SOIL will hit the road with FOZZY on a nine-date U.K. tour launching November 27 in Stoke, England and wrapping up December 6 in Brighton, England. A new documentary about Kurt Cobain is headed our way. Filmmaker Brett Morgan, who recently directed the Rolling Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane, says that he’s currently working on a new film about the late Nirvana frontman.
"Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker,” Morgen tells the New York Post. “So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography -- [as] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life."
Morgan adds that he’s been working with Cobain’s wife, Hole frontwoman Courtney Love, on developing the project since 2007. "Courtney is the one that brought me into this," he explains. "We’ve been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now."

PAPA ROACH: Official 'Before I Die' Lyric Video Released
The official lyric video for the song "Before I Die" from Californian rockersPAPA ROACH can be seen below. The band recently filmed a video for the track, which included an underwater scene.
"Before I Die" comes off PAPA ROACH's new album, "The Connection", which sold 22,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at No. 17 on the Billboard album chart.
PAPA ROACH performed for a worldwide live stream and took questions from fans on October 23 via YouTube, marking the first time the band played live since vocalist Jacoby Shaddix underwent surgery in September to remove nodes from his vocal cords. Shaddix's condition forced him to stop singing and led his band to drop off this past summer's Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival tour.
Shaddix told The Pulse Of Radio that pulling out of that tour and going straight into surgery was probably the smartest thing he could have done. "Best decision I ever made," he said. "You know, it was a tough decision, but best decision. Went in and got the surgery — I was freaking out. I remember I was going into surgery, I'm like, tear rolling down my face, like, 'God, please guide this surgeon's hands,' cause, you know, I mean, shit could go bad real quick."
Shaddix told Loudwire, "I couldn't talk at all so that sucked. It was the longest silence of my life since I was born; I just wanted to talk so bad."
Even before his vocal problems started, Shaddix admitted in several new interviews that he came close to committing suicide earlier in the year as he struggled with both marital problems and falling off the wagon.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Singer Says New Album Is 'Coming Along Nicely
AVENGED SEVENFOLD returned to the public eye this week with its new song and video "Carry On", which is included in the just-released blockbuster video game "Call Of Duty: Black Ops II". Lead singer M. Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio that ever since recording that song in August, AVENGED has been working steadily on album number six. "I try not to say too much about the album because you know how the Internet world is, so I'll just say this: we have a direction, we're sticking to that direction, and we feel really very happy writing in these terms that we've laid out for ourselves," he said. "The album is coming along very nicely, we're excited to get in the studio, we have about six songs that I'm really happy with right now, and we're continuing to write every single day."
The new disc is expected out in June or July of 2013 and will follow up 2010's "Nightmare". That album was the first No. 1 record of AVENGED SEVENFOLD's career and followed the December 2009 death of drummerJimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.

HINDER Frontman Says 'Dark Drug Binge' Fueled New Album
According to The Pulse Of Radio, HINDER frontman Austin Winkler toldBillboard on Wednesday (November 14) that a "really dark drug binge" fueled much of his songwriting on the band's upcoming fourth album,"Welcome To The Freakshow".
The album is due out on December 4 and follows 2010's "All American Nightmare".
HINDER will open for LYNYRD SKYNYRD on November 16 in Durant, Oklahoma and plans to mount a full tour once 2013 rolls around.

Stone Sour Sings While a Man Fights to Survive in “Absolute Zero” Video
Stone Sour taunts a man who’s being held captive in the new video for “Absolute Zero,” the next single from the first installment of their concept double album, House of Gold & Bones.
The four-minute clip, which is streaming on RollingStone.com, features a man who is desperately trying to escape a graffiti-covered room as his body is being twisted. In addition, the band makes an appearance in the video as well, appearing as shadows on the walls.
"'Absolute Zero' is the anti-hero anthem of House of Gold and Bones Part One," frontmanCorey Taylor tells Rolling Stone. "It essentially lets you know that the hero isn't perfect, but he will do whatever is necessary. The video is loosely based on the fact that in the short story, the hero ends up in a very strange world and he has to figure out what's going on and what he'll do."
The second part of the concept album, House of Gold & Bones Part 2, is expected to be released sometime next year. In addition, a four-issue comic book mini-series based on the album will be available starting April 17, 2013.

Animated AVENGED SEVENFOLD Plays 'Carry On' After 'Black Ops II' Credits
A clip from the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops II" video game where an animated version of AVENGED SEVENFOLD plays the song the band wrote just for the game, "Carry On", can be seen below. The clip features the members of AVENGED SEVENFOLD and characters Raul Menendez and Sergeant Frank Woods "performing" after the credits (skip to about 1:36 in the video).
"Call Of Duty: Black Ops II" arrives in stores on November 13.
The last time AVENGED SEVENFOLD issued new music was also for the"Call Of Duty" series, when they released "Not Ready To Die" as part of the "Call Of The Dead" game expansion pack in 2011.
The band has kept a relatively low profile since completing the touring cycle for its fifth album, 2010's "Nightmare", but guitarist Zacky Vengeance told The Pulse Of Radio that AVENGED SEVENFOLD doesn't like to sit still for very long. "We're not the kind of people to just take a break and say everything's going good, you know, let's rest on our laurels, act like rock stars — we take it very seriously and we certainly aren't just celebrating and doing a victory lap," he said. "We're focused on making our fans happy, keeping each other happy, so we can do this forever."
"Nightmare" was the group's first recording project since the late 2009 death of drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.
Following overseas tours in April and May of this year, the band last performed at METALLICA's Orion Music + More festival in Atlantic City in late June.
"Not Ready To Die" was the first song recorded with drummer Arin Ilejay, who took over behind the kid in early 2011.
Although the group was reportedly going to begin work on its sixth studio effort this year, there has been no word on its progress.

Chris Cornell Talks Soundgarden’s Musical Legacy; Says Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan Owes Him $40,000
It’s taken 15 long years, but on Tuesday Soundgarden finally releases their first new studio album in a decade and a half, King Animal. Frontman Chris Cornell says that despite the exceptionally long hiatus, he didn’t feel any pressure while recording the album.
“We have a fan base that knows who we are,” Cornell tells ABC News Radio. “We don’t really have to compete with other bands, there’s no other version of what we do, so there’s no pressure really at all except for we have a musical legacy and whatever we do now, has to live up to that. And that’s a pressure that I suppose we put on ourselves.”
A few months ago, The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan slammed Soundgarden for making King Animal, claiming that their decision to reunite was motivated solely by money. “I was a fan of Soundgarden, but call [King Animal] for what it is,” Corgan told a Filipino publication. “They’re just out there to have one more round at the till.”
Now, Cornell has fired back at Corgan, saying he remembers a time when money was very important to the Pumpkins frontman. “When Billy Corgan was completely broke, I got him a movie deal with [director] Cameron Crowe where he made $40,000,” Cornell tells ABC News Radio. “He was very happy about that, and he was specifically happy about the $40,000. So next time you see him, tell him owes me my $40,000 back.”

I feel it’s every bit as viable as film work or music or anything. Video game culture has expanded into the largest form of entertainment.” Call of Duty: Black Ops II arrives in stores on Tuesday, which is the same day that his side project, How to Destroy Angels, will release its new EP, An Omen.

Kid Rock Says iTunes Prices Aren’t “American”
Just because Kid Rock is allowing his upcoming album, Rebel Soul, to be released on iTunes, it doesn’t mean that the singer is happy about the way the digital retailer runs its business. Rock, a longtime iTunes holdout, says that he feels that the online store’s price structure isn’t exactly fair.
"I still don't believe that all pieces of music are the same price,” Rock tells Billboard.com. “I just don't think that's American."
Rock adds that his decision to sell his music on iTunes was motivated by the habits of the average music consumer. "As a musician, you want the music in as many hands as you can get it into," he explains. "I want people to get the music for the fairest price, and in the most convenient way. And that's really turned into iTunes when you're talking about selling albums."
While it’s unclear whether or not Rock will allow his entire catalog to be sold on iTunes,Rebel Soul will be available starting on November 19. You can purchase the album’s first single, “Let’s Ride,” on iTunes now.
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE: 'Temper Temper' Video Released
"Temper Temper", the new video from Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, can be seen below. The track is the title cut of the band's fourth album, which will be released on February 11, 2013 in the U.K. viaSony Music. The song will be released on November 25 across all digital providers.
"Temper Temper" was once again produced by Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, GOOD CHARLOTTE), who worked on the group's last LP, 2010's"Fever", and was mixed by noted engineer Chris Lord-Alge (DEFTONES,NICKELBACK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD).
In a recent interview with South Africa's Voice Of Rock Radio, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck stated about the band's upcoming album, "For me, it's a huge compliment that [Gilmore] really didn't have much input [this time around], 'cause on the last record he did, and it kind of opened my eyes to write differently and to think about, not slowing things down, but kind of… there's no restraint on screaming and restraint on a million miles an hour. It's not necessary, really. We've kind of done that [already]. So on this record, [he kind of] sat back and let me do it without having much input, which to me, knowing Don, is a huge compliment, 'cause it means I've kind of done it right by my own. So, yeah, we've definitely fucking nailed it on this record. I know it's a long way before coming out and anyone's gonna hear anything, but I've lived with [it] and I know what it is, and trust me, it's good."
As previously reported, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will embark on a U.K. tour in March. Support on all dates will come from HALESTORM.

Jane’s Addiction Looking to Create Viral Video for “Splash a Little Water on It”
Jane’s Addiction is hoping to create a special video for “Splash a Little Water on It,” a track from their latest album, The Great Escape Artist. Frontman Perry Farrell says that while he has a concept in mind for the video, he just needs to find the money to make it.
“I’ve been trying to get the money to do a video for [‘Splash a Little Water on It’],” the singer tells ABC News Radio. “It’s not going to be a radio single, it’s going to be, hopefully, a viral video piece that you’re be able to see on YouTube and all the other great places where people look at and view music today.”
Farrell notes that the song’s lyrics deal with the consequences of partying too hard. “’Splash a Little Water’ is about a couple who notoriously stay up very, very late and then at the same time they’ve got these obligations,” he explains. “So, you get yourself up and you get yourself over to the bathroom mirror and you splash a little water on your face and see if you come alive, try to get your mind working.”
Farrell previously told ABC News Radio that the band will be heading into the studio sometime this month to begin working on a new “body of music that would be maybe 45 minutes long.”

Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell Says King Animal Album Title Doesn’t Have “Any Specific Meaning”
Chris Cornell says that there isn’t any special hidden meaning behind the title of the band’s first studio album in more than 15 years, King Animal. The Soundgarden frontman notes that he chooses the titles of the band's albums based on emotional responses that he receives from the music in them.
"To me, [King Animal] is more of a feeling,” the singer tells Fuse in a video interview. “That's what's required for a title of a Soundgarden album because if there’s any specific meaning, then it's not going to encompass the feel of the entire album from song to song. It can't mean anything."
Cornell adds that there’s one aspect of the King Animal’s title that he especially enjoys. "There's something about [King Animal] that's confident, which I like,” reveals the singer. “Sort of taking ownership of who we are and how we feel about the music within."
Soundgarden has posted a stream of every song from King Animal on iTunes, where it'll remain from now until the album's release on Tuesday.

Good news for Nine Inch Nails fans: frontman Trent Reznor says that he’s working on new material for the band. “There will be new [NIN] music,” Reznor tells Rolling Stone. “There are some things in the works."
Reznor adds that while he’s busy promoting the upcoming release of An Omen EP from his side project, How to Destroy Angels, he is considering scheduling a NIN tour in the near future. “If it feels right, it's a possibility," he reveals. "Having a few years doing other things, I've enjoyed [them] and…there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. We'll see what happens here." An Omen features six tracks and is set to hit stores on November 13. A full-length album from the band is expected in spring of 2013.
ROB ZOMBIE To Be Honored At 'New York City Horror Film Festival'
On Friday, November 9, Rob Zombie will attend the 10th annual New York City Horror Film Festival, where he will receive the Michael J. Hein award for "Personal Achievement In Direction." Zombie will also show to the audience in attendance a special "Director's Choice" screening of one of his films.
Although online ticket sales have now ended, fans can purchase tickets to the event on the door.
To find out more, go to the New York City Horror Film Festivalweb site.
Zombie last month released the first official trailer for his upcoming film"The Lords Of Salem". The horror film, Zombie's fifth live-action feature, stars his wife Sheri Moon Zombie as a Massachusetts DJ who discovers that playing a mysterious record somehow activates a curse placed on her town by a coven of witches 300 years ago.
Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that this is the first time he's made a movie with explicitly supernatural overtones. "Yeah, the other ones aren't at all, I don't think," he said. "' [House Of 1000]Corpses' was just this crazy, bloody, you know, 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' thing, and 'Devil's Rejects' was always meant to be sort of like a post-modern Western, and the 'Halloween' films, I tried to make them not supernatural on purpose. So yeah, this will be the first one that's sort of about supernatural things coming back to life. It's good. I'm excited. It's gonna be very different than the other films."
The genuinely creepy trailer offers a barrage of Satanic imagery, including witches burning at the stake, pagan animal masks, bizarre rituals andSheri Moon Zombie straddling a demonic goat.
The film premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay. The company will release it sometime in early 2013.

Coheed and Cambria Talks Songwriting Process forAfterman; Movie Adaptation of Amory Wars
Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez has revealed that the songwriting process for the band's double album, The Afterman, was different from any other album the band has made. The singer says that instead of developing songs to go along with a story, he decided to create a story around the tracks he penned for Afterman.“With those [other] records I always kind of understood what story I was going to tell,” Sanchez tells ABC News Radio. “With Afterman, there was no concept, I allowed the songs to really tell me what they wanted to be in terms of that world and really inspire what would become The Afterman story.”
The singer adds that he’s looking forward to developing the band’s ongoing sci-fi tale,Amory Wars, into a live-action feature film with Mark Wahlberg's Leverage Productions. “At the moment, it’s really just a partnership between Amory Wars and Leverage,” explains Sanchez. “It’s just these two worlds kind of coming together, and together we’ll try to make that become a reality. It’s really just kind of in the beginning stages. It’s kind of exciting, we’ll see what happens.”
You can expect the second installment of the album, The Afterman: Descension, to arrive in stores on February 5, 2013. It will be supported by a six-week stretch of tour dates focusing on smaller, intimate venues.

Chris Cornell and Ben Shepherd Write Soundgarden Music for Their Kids
Soundgarden's King Animal is set to drop on January 31, and much has happened to the Soundgarden guys in the 15 years since their last release. All four of the guys have kept busy professionally, with solo albums, side bands and contributions to other artists' projects. Three of them -- Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd -- are also fathers and that more than anything, they say, influenced the music on King Animal.
Ben Shepherd tells SPIN.com that if the guitar riff in their new song "Halfway There" seems simple, it's on purpose -- he wrote it so that he could someday teach it to his daughter. The lyrics of another song, "Bones of Birds," were written by Chris Cornell about bearing witness to his kids' innocence slipping away as they get older.
Cornell says that the most interesting thing about playing his new music for his kids is that they have immediate, unguarded reaponses. Says the singer, "They actually respond. They don't have the references that adults have, so everything is immediate. It's always interesting to see what they react to in whatever I'm working on at the moment. And they don't even want to discuss why. That's a lesson to remember: My son doesn't care about why."
A last-minute reminder: if you pre-order King Animal directly from soundgardenworld.com before 11:59 p.m. PT on November 7 -- that's Wednesday -- you'll be sent a ticket pre-sale password for shows on the band's special mini-tour, at Irving Plaza in New York City on November 13, The Phoenix in Toronto on November 16 and The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on November 27.
Buckcherry Guys Have Fun on the Road
The guys in Buckcherry work hard, playing almost 100 shows this year alone; but don't feel too badly for them. A source close to the band tells ABC News Radio that between concert dates, and sometimes even on show days themselves, the guys manage to pack in lots of recreation.
Singer Josh Todd is a huge go-kart racer, to the extent of researching tour stops in advance for racetracks so as to spend as much time there as possible, even on gig days. Josh's love of racing extends to the big leagues of NASCAR -- if there's a track near a tour date, you'll find him there on race day.
Guitarist Keith Nelson has recently discovered bowling and can be found at bowling alleys close to Buckcherry concert venues. The source says, "He can spend hours there; he's pretty diehard." Stevie D.'s hobby is a little more under-the-radar but no less an obsession; he loves photography and has an extensive camera collection, some of which he takes on the road with him to shoot with whenever he has time.
The Buckcherry guys are enjoying a couple of weeks off after their recent tour of Japan; they leave for a string of European dates on November 20. They are prepping songs for a new album, called Confessions, which will be released early next year. On the band'swebsite, Josh Todd says the album is based on the seven deadly sins -- lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride -- and will include a film component shot by the singer himself.
Courtney Love Says No Nirvana Broadway Show
If you're a Nirvana fan who's offended by the recent rumors of a possible Kurt CobainBroadway musical, Courtney Love's on your side.
The rumor was started by Britney Spears's ex-manager Sam Lufti, who spent most of the last few weeks trying to sue Spears for a lot of money. His lawsuit failed, but, as previously reported, Lufti did let it slip during his testimony that he and Love -- who he has also sometimes co-managed -- were "working on a possible motion picture or Broadway musical based on the Nirvana catalogue, based on [Courtney's] life and Kurt Cobain's," according to press accounts.
No way, says Courtney. She tells U.K. newspaper The Observer simply, "There will be no musical. Sometimes it's better to leave things alone."
Courtney Love says she learned her lesson the hard way. Contrary to what some suspicious Nirvana fans have grumbled over the years, Love says she regrets the one time she allowed a Nirvana track to be used commercially. She said, "I said yes once -- to [Moulin Rouge director] Baz Luhrmann to use eight seconds of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in [the movie]. But he wasn't allowed to use it in the marketing. I didn't get the part in the film. I was so pissed off I made up the term to 'Baz' somebody."
Love was also upset by last year's movie The Muppets, which used "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in a scene where a barbershop quartet crooned the tune to Jack Black, who was tied up in the barber chair. Months after the movie came out, Love told TMZ that the song was used without her permission and called that a "raping" of her late husband's memory. The surviving members of Nirvana did give their permission for The Muppets to use the song, and Dave Grohl even appeared in the film. She tells The Observer she considered suing over the use but was persuaded not to by her manager.
Ozzy Osbourne's Wife, Sharon, Reveals She Underwent a Double Mastectomy
Ozzy Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, says she was so fearful of getting breast cancer after discovering she carries a gene that increases her chances of developing the disease that she opted to undergo a double mastectomy and has “no regrets.”
In an exclusive interview with the U.K.'s Hello! magazine, Osbourne says, "As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought, 'The odds are not in my favor.'" The 60-year-old Osbourne, who beat colon cancer 10 years ago, explains, "I've had cancer before and didn't want to live under that cloud. I decided to take everything off and had a double mastectomy. For me, it was a no-brainer."
The Ozzfest founder and The Talk co-host tells the magazine, "I want to be around a long time and be a grandmother...I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way. I just wanted to live without that fear."
Osbourne also reveals that she is now against plastic surgery after learning from doctors that her breast implants had leaked into her stomach wall.
"Sometimes I'll see a photo and I'll think, 'My face looks plastic'; it can look so unnatural from certain angles," Sharon declares. "Now I am definitely, definitely done. You can't buy your youth back, no matter how much money you've got."
Former Live Frontman Ed Kowalczyk to Release New Solo EP
Former Live lead singer Ed Kowalczyk [ko-WAHL-chik] has announced the impending release of some new music. An EP called The Garden will be available as a digital download November 19. The collection will feature five original songs and five alternate versions of those songs, remixed by other artists. Kowalczyk says he's working on another full-length solo album, to be released in spring of next year.
"As a touring and recording musician, I've been amazed over the years at how much my songs develop and evolve from the original studio recordings," Kowalczyk said in a statement. "With the remixes on The Garden EP, I wanted to try to hyper-speed that process a bit and deconstruct my versions of the songs by handing them off to other creative people right at the beginning."
The singer is currently on his I Alone solo acoustic tour performing solo material and Live hits. Kowalczyk left Live in 2009. Last summer, as previously reported, his former band mates sued in an attempt to get Kowalczyk to stop promoting himself as "Ed Kowalczyk of Live."
Linkin Park Asks Fans to Donate Money to Help Victims of Hurricane Sandy
Linkin Park wants their fans to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy. In a video interview with AXSLive, multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda says you can offer support to victims of the storm by donating funds to LP's non-profit organization, Music for Relief.
“I was talking to the fans the next morning and they…uploaded some pictures that were horrendous, stuff under water and cars, like, basically just demolished, destroyed by the hurricane,” explains Shinoda. “I know that a lot of fans from all over the place are looking for ways to help out so that’s why we’re trying to spread the word about Music for Relief.”

RANDY BLYTHE's Illness Forces LAMB OF GOD's Las Vegas Concert Cancelation
LAMB OF GOD was forced to cancel its performance at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada last night (Thursday, November 1) after the band's lead singer, Randy Blythe, was taken ill.
After support act IN FLAMES played an extended set, the members ofLAMB OF GOD minus Randy walked out onto the stage (see video below) and apologized to the crowd, explaining that the show was being rescheduled for December 12 and that the tickets will still be valid.
Blythe was released from a prison in Prague on August 2, more than a month after he was arrested and incarcerated. Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a 2010 incident in which a fan attending a LAMB OF GOD show died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.Blythe's predicament galvanized the heavy rock community, with artists across the hard rock genre pledging their support.
Interviewed by a Czech media outlet before boarding the plane to go home, Blythe said, "I'm relieved to be out of jail but if it's necessary for me to return to Prague to go to this court thing, I certainly will, I'm no flight risk."
Blythe added that he had no memory at all of the incident in question, saying, "I feel very bad that a fan of my band is dead and his family has to go through it, it's terrible, I feel awful for them but it's a tragic coincidence . . . we had no knowledge whatsoever that someone had been injured much less died."
The case is expected to be heard in court in January.

Nickelback's Chad Kroeger's Wedding to Avril Lavigne Will Be "The Most Unique...the Planet Has Probably Ever Seen"
Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne and are certainly an unusual couple, so it's not surprising that their upcoming wedding will be out of the ordinary as well.
Speaking to Men's Health magazine, Kroeger says that he has control over "nothing" about the wedding, adding, "I just show up." But he's not worried, he explains, because as he puts it, "[Avril] has traversed these territories before." That means Lavigne's already been married; Kroeger has not.
"It's nice to have her to guide me through this...she's got great ideas. I would have gone a little too traditional, I think, and she's giving it a rock and roll edge," Kroeger explains about Lavigne's concept for their wedding. "Let's just say she's taking the bull by the horns and steering the ship towards what is going to be the most unique wedding that the planet has probably ever seen."
As for whether or not Kroeger approves of his and Lavigne's couple nickname, "Chavril," he tells the magazine, "Oh, we predicted that long ago. We pegged it before we decided we were going to spill the beans. We went through a list." He laughs, "Our other guess was AdChav, which sounds like some sort of jet fuel. Chavril was the better choice, and sure enough, that's what the media went with."
That's not to say that Kroeger and Lavigne dislike the name. He admits, "When one of us is trying to get the others attention from across the room, we'll say 'Hey Chavril!' It's funny how fast your head turns around, followed by a lot of laughter.
As for whether or not Kroeger has stopped his philandering rock star ways since he and Lavigne got engaged, he tells the magazine, "After this many years of being a lead singer in a touring rock band, I've had my fair share of fun. But those days are long behind me...I don't think my libido has changed. I just think that my Rolodex has been confiscated. And I'm okay with that."

Muse Releases Lyric Video for "Follow Me"
Muse has released a lyrics video for their next single, "Follow Me," from their recently-released album, The 2nd Law. In the four-minute clip, the lyrics to the song appear on the screen as psychedelic lights and images flash around them.
Frontman Matt Bellamy has said that the track was inspired by a trip to the doctor’s office with his then-pregnant wife, Kate Hudson. “A couple of days before Kate gave birth [to Bingham] we went for a check-up and I recorded [my baby’s heartbeat] on my iPhone as I thought it was an amazing sound,” Bellamy told U.K. newspaper The Sun. “Then I wrote the lyrics about wanting to lead and protect, all the feelings that having a kid evokes.”
Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor Looking to Make Movies Based on House of Gold and Bones
Stone Sour might be getting into the movie business. Frontman Corey Taylor says that he hopes to turn his concept double album, House of Gold and Bones, into two feature films sometime in the future.
“That’s my endgame, really,” the singer tells U.K. retailer Attitude Clothing in a video interview. “I’d love to make these into two movies. I’m kind of in a position where I can do that now, I have the film company with [percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan] fromSlipknot.” Taylor adds that while he’s met some “really creative people” with whom he’d like to work on the films, he hasn’t yet talked to them about the project.
The first installment of the album, House of Gold and Bones Part 1, debuted at #7 on theBillboard200 albums chart this week with 31,000 units sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The second installment, House of Gold & Bones Part 2, is expected to be released sometime next year. In addition, a four-issue comic book mini-series based on the album will be available starting April 17, 2013.
Axl Rose Says Next Guns N’ Roses Album Will Arrive “Sooner” than Chinese Democracy
While it took Guns N’ Roses 15 years to release its sixth studio album, Chinese Democracy, frontman Axl Rose is promising that it won’t be that long before we get the band’s next album. Rose says that there were a number of issues he faced while makingChinese Democracy which made it difficult to release the album until 2008.
"I had to deal with so many other things that don't have to do with music but have to do with the industry," Rose tells USA Today. "There wasn't anyone to work with or trust. Someone would come in to help produce and the reality was they just wanted to mix it and get it out the door. [The next album] will come out sooner."
The singer adds that his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Seymour and former GN'R guitaristSlash and bassist Duff McKagan didn’t make things any easier for him to write lyrics for the album. "At the time of the [Use Your Illusion] tours, Slash and Duff said, 'You're an idiot, you're a loser,'" he reveals. “I didn't write for years. Bass Trashed by Kurt Cobain in “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Video Goes Up for Auction
If you're a die-hard Nirvana fan, here's your opportunity to own a rare piece of band memorabilia. According to the Irish Independent, the bass guitar that late singer Kurt Cobain smashed in the music video for the band's 1991 hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” is going up for auction at Christie's in London on November 29. The broken instrument is expected to bring in between 15,000 and 25,000 pounds -- about $24,000 to $40,000 -- at auction.
The newspaper adds that former bassist Krist Novoselic specifically purchased the instrument from a pawn shop because he knew it was going to be trashed during the video shoot. While it’s unclear who’s selling the smashed instrument, it was originally taken by one of the teenage extras featured in the video.
