SEVENDUST has entered Architekt Music studios in Butler, New Jersey with engineer Mike Ferretti to begin recording its ninth album for an early 2013 release.
A one-minute clip from the first day of the recording sessions can be seen below.
SEVENDUST's latest CD, "Cold Day Memory", sold around 27,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band's previous effort, "Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow", opened with 25,000 units back in April 2008 to land at position No. 19.
"Cold Day Memory" was released on April 20, 2010 on the band's own7Bros. Records, through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. The CD — produced by Grammy Award winner Johnny K(DISTURBED, STAIND, 3DOORSDOWN, PLAIN WHITE T'S) — was the group's first new album with its original lineup back together with Lowery's return after his departure in 2003.
CALL ME NO ONE — the new project featuring Lowery and SEVENDUSTdrummer Morgan Rose — released its debut album, "Last Parade", on June 5. The CD's first single, "Biggest Fan", was made available to purchase on iTunes on April 24.
SEVENDUST guitarist John Connolly and bassist Vince Hornsby also recently launched a new project, joining forces with CREED/ALTER BRIDGE drummer Scott Phillips in a new outfit called PROJECTED.
PROJECTED has already completed recording its debut disc, "Human", to be released September 18 on Connolly's own Yaya Papu LLC label.

Billy Corgan Talks Next Smashing Pumpkins Album, Upcoming Oceania Tour
Even though it’s only been about three months since TheSmashing Pumpkins released their latest album, Oceania, frontman Billy Corgan says that he’s begun working on material for the band’s next release.
"[I’ve] already started writing songs for a new album," Corgan tells Billboard.com. "[It] definitely seems like it's going to be more of a rockin' affair."
The singer added that while he wants to put out the new album in December of 2013, he’s not sure he can pull it off. "That's really ambitious, because we're still touring, and I've never been successful writing on tour,” he explains. “So even if we went into the studio in November when we come off of this tour, it's still pretty ambitious to have it out by then."
The Pumpkins are gearing up to hit the road for a North American tour next month to promote Oceania. Corgan says that he’s excited to unveil some unique visual effects on the tour, thanks to a 25-foot sphere created by Sean Evans, who worked with ex-Pink Floyd bassist/singer Roger Waters on his recent tour of The Wall.
“They actually invented computer technology to kind of alter the images so they don't warp on the sphere,” says Corgan. “It's pretty wild. So far we've done it five or six times, and it feels different, too. It doesn't feel like a normal concert.”

The Foo Fighters and James Taylor Perform at DNC
The Foo Fighters and James Taylor were among the warm-up acts for President Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday evening.
The Foo Fighters delivered acoustic versions of their hits "My Hero" and "Walk."
Taylor performed "Carolina in My Mind" and "You've Got a Friend," and managed to sprinkle in a few jokes, too.
When he walked on stage, he approached a stool and said, "I know an empty chair makes you nervous. I’m going to sit on it, not talk to it." That was an obvious joke at the expense of ClintEastwood, who spoke to an empty chair during an unusual speech at the Republican National Convention last week.
Taylor also told the crowd during his set, "I've been watching the coverage, and I've gotta say there's something...I don't get it. I mean, I'm an old white guy, and I love Barack Obama."
The performances took place just hours before Obama closed the Democratic National Convention by accepting his party's nomination.
Blur, Noel Gallagher, Florence + the Machine Up for Two Q Awards; The Black Keys, Coldplay Among Other Nominees
The U.K. magazine Q will be holding their annual Q Awards next month, and plenty of rock acts have scored nominations. The recently-reunited Blur is up for two awards in the Best Live Act and Best Act in the World Today categories. Other bands nominated Best Act in the World Today include Coldplay and Muse, while bands nominated for Best Live Act also include Radiohead, The Cribs and The Stone Roses. Noel Gallagher scored two nominations for the Q Awards, including the Best Video, where he’ll be competing against The Killers, Arctic Monkeys and Keane, among others.Florence + the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch got herself two nominations as well: one in the Best Track category with her band for “Shake It Out,” and one for Best Solo Artist.
Other nominees in various categories include The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, fun.and Gotye. The awards will be handed out October 22 at a ceremony at a London hotel -- a ceremony at which it is customary for all the attendees to get rip-roaring drunk and say embarrassing things.

Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Isn't Interested in "The World's Opinion" About His Engagement to Avril Lavigne
Three weeks ago, Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger and pop star Avril Lavigne shocked their fans when they announced that they were engaged. While it seems that everyone has something to say about the duo getting hitched, Kroeger says he’s not paying attention to anyone else’s thoughts on the forthcoming nuptials.
"I try not to take too much interest in the world's opinion of our relationship," the singer tells People. "I just know the both of us are very happy."
Kroeger started dating Lavigne on July 1 -- the Canadian equivalent of America’s Independence Day, known as Canada Day -- while working on new music for her album. The frontman notes that he’s thrilled that the Canadian couple will be sharing that special milestone as part of their relationship’s history.
"We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day," says Kroeger. "We can't wait to start our life together." Kroeger added that while he’s busy touring with Nickelback, Lavigne will “come over and spend some time [with me] when she's got time.”
