SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR Frontman Honored With 'Legend' Award At 'Metal Hammer Award Show'

SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor was honored with the "Legend" award at this year's installment of the Metal Hammer Award Show, which was held this past Friday, September 14 at Kesselhaus in Berlin, Germany. Former ACCEPT and current U.D.O. singerUdo Dirkschneider presented the award to Taylor, who stated, "It's very lucky to be able to do what I do, but I wouldn't be able to do this without the fans, without you guys, so thank you so much. I really appreciate it. And honestly, I wouldn't be able to do this without the people that I grew up listening to, like Udo, like METALLICA, like GUNS N' ROSES. So I followed in really good footsteps, and I hope I can keep doing it for a few more years."

Video footage of Corey's acceptance speech can be seen below.

Angela Gossow (ARCH ENEMY) hosted the event, which featured performances by SABATONELUVEITIE and CALLEJON.

"House Of Gold And Bones - Part 1", the first half of STONE SOUR's upcoming two-disc concept album, arrives on October 23, while the second half will come out next year, probably in May.

SLIPKNOT released a greatest-hits package on July 24 called "Antennas To Hell".

Soundgarden Reveals Artwork, Trailer for King Animal

Soundgarden has revealed the artwork and a trailer for their upcoming studio album,King Animal.
There's a definite winter theme in play, from the look of things.  The cover, which the band posted on their Facebook page, features a carefully-arranged mound of bleached animal skulls, set against a snow-covered landscape of bare trees beneath an iridescent sky.
The minute-twenty-five trailer echoes the King Animal album cover.  Scored to music from the album, it features camera pans of the same snowy landscape, with images of Chris Cornell and the band shimmering into and out of sight.  The trailer resolves itself into the King Animal cover.
The title of the song that plays beneath the trailer isn't known.  Last month, Soundgarden posted a 37-second clip of another track, titled "Worse Dreams," that featured footage of the band working in the studio and performing live.
King Animal, Soundgarden's first new studio album since 1996's Down on the Upside, arrives November 13.

Green Day Rocks GMA, Talks “Epic” Album Trilogy

Green Day stopped by ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday morning to perform a few tracks and discuss their upcoming trilogy of albums, ¡Uno!¡Dos! and ¡Tré! In an interview with GMA's Josh Elliot, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says that each album in the trilogy is a part of an ongoing story, as well as a reflection of their musical history.
“The first record is kinda' more classic, kinda Green Day-sounding, kinda dates back to more Kerplunk or Dookie-kinda- era," said Armstrong.  "The second one is much more garage-y, like Foxboro Hot Tubs…and the third one is more of like a finale of the three.  We started off writing a few songs and it ended up becoming an epic in the long run.”
Armstrong added that the band wasn’t planning to make three albums at once, but after their writing sessions produced thirty songs, they felt they should do a three-album set. “We had a handful of songs and then instead of doing a double record -- I think we had about right around 30 songs, we decided to just keep going,” notes Armstrong. “We were having a good time with it. So, we were like, let's put out a three-album set.”
While ¡Uno! arrives in stores on September 25, ¡Dos! won’t be released on November 13. The band’s final album of the trilogy, ¡Tré!, will be available on January 15, 2013.
You’ll get your chance to hear songs from the trilogy performed live when Green Day hits the road for a North American tour. That outing kicks off at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on November 26.
