MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN To Write Column For Phoenix Newspaper
Maynard James Keenan, the singer for TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE andPUSCIFER, has agreed to write a bi-weekly column for Phoenix New Times' "Up On The Sun" blog.
In typical Maynard James Keenanfashion, the column will feature his freewheeling examinations on whatever he feels like writing about, including music and wine.
The column will make its online debut on Monday, September 10.
TOOL has not issued a new album since 2006's "10,000 Days".
Keenan recently spent time on the road with PUSCIFER in support of that band's sophomore album, "Conditions Of My Parole", which was released last October via Puscifer Entertainment.

Dropkick Murphys to Release Signed and Sealed in Blood in 2013; Asks Fans to Get Tattoo of Artwork
New music from Dropkick Murphys is headed our way. The band will release Signed and Sealed in Blood, the follow-up to 2011’s Going Out in Style, in early 2013.
"We had such a great time writing our last album, Going Out in Style, we were excited to get back into the studio right away," said bassist and co-lead singer Ken Casey in a statement. "Where Going Out in Style was a concept album-kind of intricate and difficult, this one is catchy, fun, and as sing-along as can be."
In addition, The Murphys have also released the album's artwork, which features a red rose in the middle of a black-and-white crest. The band is asking that their die-hard fans take photos and videos of themselves getting a tattoo of the album’s artwork before September 19, so they can use them in an upcoming video for their single, “Rose Tattoo,” and for the forthcoming album’s packaging. Jack White Says Playing Festivals Is “a Necessary Evil”
While Jack White has performed at several big festivals including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and the Firefly Music Festival, the singer has revealed that he isn’t fond of playing for the people who attend them.
"[Festivals are] a necessary evil in the business," the singer tells BBC News. “You get exposure to people who would never come and see you and [the organizers] offer bands a lot of money so they can't say no, but they're not my first choice to perform music. Everyone's drinking and lazing in the sun and walking around and that's a fun thing for them but it's not interesting for me.”
White will have to deal with festival crowds a few more times next month. He’s a headliner at the Virgin Mobile FreeFest at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD on October 6; the Austin City Limits festival at Zilker Park in Austin, TX on October 13 and the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience festival in New Orleans, LA on October 28.
