TRENT REZNOR's HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS: New Song Available For Streaming
"Keep It Together", a brand new song from HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS — the project featuring NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig (ex-WEST INDIAN GIRL) along with frequent NIN collaborator Atticus Ross and NIN's longtime graphic designer Rob Sheridan — can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below. The track comes off the band's second EP, "An Omen EP", will be made available on November 13 and will contain six songs, some of which will also appear on HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS' upcoming LP, to be issued early next year via Columbia Records.
"Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia," Treznor noted in hisFacebook announcement, "we've really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There's a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace), but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings."
HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS released a self-titled EP in 2010, and covered BRYAN FERRY's "Is Your Love Strong Enough?" for the soundtrack to"The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" (scored by Reznor and Ross).
"An Omen EP" unconfirmed track listing:
01. Keep It Together
02. Ice Age
03. On The Wing
04. The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters
05. The Loop Closes
06. Speaking In Tongues
COREY TAYLOR Talks About Working With DAVE GROHL
Shan Man of the Phoenix, Arizona radio station 98 KUPD conducted an interview with Corey Taylor (STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT) on September 28 at the Desert Uprising festival in Phoenix. You can now watch the chat in two parts below.
"House Of Gold And Bones - Part 1", the first half of STONE SOUR's upcoming two-disc concept album, arrives on October 23, while the second half will come out next year, probably in May.
STONE SOUR has tapped Johny Chow as its live bassist for the band's upcoming tour behind "House Of Gold And Bones". GODSMACK Frontman To Release 'Avalon' Box Set In November
Sully Erna will release a very special limited-edition "Avalon" box set in November containing "some very cool items" as well as a DVD of the GODSMACK frontman performing songs from his debut solo album,"Avalon", on December 16, 2011 at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. Although the box set's official contents have not yet been revealed, it was previously reported that the set would include three DVDs (the show, the "Journey To Avalon"documentary and a behind-the-scenes documentary), two CDs, a book, T-shirt, guitar pick, poster, incense, etc., and a custom metal Sully Erna engraved metal box with a suede lining. Only 5,000 copies will be available.
A preview of the upcoming DVD is available below.
Go to www.sullyernaavalon.com and register today to receive more information on the "Avalon" box set.
The Pulse Of Radio asked Erna how he was able to balance his solo work with the demands of being in a band as big as GODSMACK. "The way I balance GODSMACK and anything I do on the side is just waiting forGODSMACK to have downtime," he said. "You know, I mean, I think as artists are, we constantly write music and just sometimes you recognize that some stuff works for your main band and then other things feel like something that's not gonna quite work for that band, but it's a great song and you may not want to throw it away, so you figure out where its home is."
"Avalon" was released in October 2010 and Erna supported it with a tour featuring an eight-piece musical backing group. The ambient, world music vibe of the record was a far cry from his usual hard-hitting material withGODSMACK.
GODSMACK kicked off the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival tour withSHINEDOWN, STAIND and others on August 17 in Bonner Springs, Kansas, with Erna starting his first major tour since canceling a European run several weeks ago over throat issues.
GODSMACK will also be one of the headliners on the ShipRocked 2012 cruise this year, taking off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in late November for five days.
GODSMACK's first-ever live album, "Live & Inspired", sold around 16,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.
TREMONTI: 'So You're Afraid' Video Released
"So You're Afraid", the new video from ALTER BRIDGE and CREEDguitarist Mark Tremonti, can be seen below.
Many of you know the variation of this riff from Tremonti's "The Sound And The Story"guitar instructional DVD as part of a riff exercise. The riff stuck around and eventually blossomed into the four-minute alternative metal tune we all know as "So You're Afraid".
Fret12 is bringing you this brand new live music video which was recorded and shot live at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Illinois back in April. Watch Mark and company blaze through "So You're Afraid" with all live audio recorded by Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K.
VAN HALEN bassist Wolfgang Van Halen made his first appearance as part of Tremonti's solo band last month at a show in Rhode Island. This marks the first time Wolfgang has played with anyone outside of his father Eddie, his uncle Alex and singerDavid Lee Roth.
Wolfgang Van Halen is replacing Tremonti's bandmate from CREED andALTER BRIDGE, Brian Marshall, who is sitting out the Tremonti trek for undisclosed personal reasons. The other members of Tremonti's touring band include Eric Friedman on guitar and Garrett Whitlock on drums.
Tremonti is on the road behind his debut solo album, "All I Was", which came out this past July.

Green Day Cancels Appearance at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience
Green Day has announced they're canceling their appearance at this year’s Voodoo Music + Arts Experience on October 27.
Band member Tre Cool issued a statement, saying, “Canceling shows is something we rarely do. We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time.” Billie Joe Armstrong is reportedly still in rehab for treatment for substance abuse.
Still, that isn't stopping Green Day from releasing ¡Dos! on schedule. The album -- the second in the ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! trilogy -- will be available on November 13.
The Voodoo Music Experience runs October 26-28 in New Orleans. To see the complete festival artist roster, head over to TheVoodooExperience.com.
Kid Rock Gives Kudos to GOP Ticket at Rally for Paul Ryan
Michigan’s favorite musical son Kid Rock introduced GOP vice presidential candidatePaul Ryan at a rally Monday in Rochester as “fellow hunter, a fellow fan of rock and roll and a great Midwesterner who shares a vision not only with Mitt Romney, but also with myself.”
Rock is an unabashed supporter of the Romney-Ryan ticket, and the GOP nominee also uses the singer's "Born Free" as his theme song.
Rock admitted during his introduction of the Wisconsin congressman that he’s something of an anomaly being a Republican in the entertainment industry but he felt that people can have different political opinions “without hating each other.”
Just to ensure that fact, he said he would keep his remarks about politics to a minimum unlike “some of my friends in Hollywood.”
Of course that didn’t stop Rock, who was born Robert Ritchie, from taking a rip atPresident Obama, saying that he was proud Michigan helped to elect “elected our first black president” although Rock was “sorry he didn’t do a better job.”
Rock intimated that the president’s poor debate performance last week was due to a lack of teleprompters, media bias and negative political ads.
Meanwhile, Rock gave a shout-out to U.S. armed forces stationed all over the world. He also complimented organizations such as the Wounded Warrior project, Operation Homefront, and Operation Finally Home that help soldiers' transition back home.
Slash Says He's Started Recording Score for the Upcoming Horror Flick He's Co-Producing
Ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash reports that he's busy working on the score forNothing to Fear, the first project being produced for his new movie production company, Slasher Films. In a series of posts on Slasher Films' official Facebook page, the rocker reveals that over the last week or so, he's been collaborating on the music with director Anthony Leonardi III and composer Nick O'Toole.
On October 1, Slash wrote that the film's "visual effects are amazing" and that the "[s]core is just beginning to roll. Sounds awesome so far."
The following day, he noted that O'Toole, Leonardi and he "had a creative revelation w/the score last night; it's going to be fantastic."
Then, this past Thursday, he reported he had "recorded some guitar parts for [Nothing to Fear]," and that they were "sounding so cool."
Lastly, on Saturday, Slash posted a photo of O'Toole, Leonardi and himself at work in the studio. Nothing to Fear tells the story of a family dealing with supernatural forces in a Kansas town that, legend has it, is located above one of the seven gateways to Hell. According to the Internet Movie Database, the film, which stars Anne Heche, Clancy Brownand Jennifer Stone, is expected to be released next year.

"With all of our previous albums, my thing was always figuring out how to fit my life into the Amory Wars concept," said frontman Claudio Sanchez in a statement. "I knew where each one sat in terms of the story. Whereas with this one, I allowed my life -- my experiences and what I was going through -- to frame the concept." The Afterman: Ascension, which arrives in stores on Tuesday, contains nine tracks including the first single, “Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute.” You need to wait a few months to get your hands on the second album, The Afterman: Descension.
