STONE SOUR: Audio Snippet Of New Song 'The Travellers Part 1'

An audio snippet of "The Travellers Part 1", a brand new song fromSTONE SOUR, can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below. The track is taken from "House Of Gold And Bones - Part 1", the first half ofSTONE SOUR's upcoming two-disc concept album. The first CD arrives on October 23, while the second half will come out next year, probably in May. Singer Corey Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio that the project has turned out even better than he had hoped. "It's some of the best work we've ever done," he said. "Song-wise, guitar-wise, performance-wise, I mean, everything. It's so good. It's come out so much better than I thought it was going to. It's surpassed all of our expectations. It's really, really good."

Speaking to Rolling Stone about the making of the project, Taylor said, "Even with the time constraints we had, we basically recorded two albums in the time it takes to record one. So we were doing double-duty every day. I was tracking two songs vocally a day just to keep us on a deadline and it really pushed us to strive for excellence."

The singer also said that the band wanted to "really try and go for (a) natural vibe on this without using a ton of samples and really try to differentiate us from everybody else out there . . . we wanted to really capture a unique sound."

"House of Gold & Bones - Part 1" track listing:

01. Gone Sovereign
02. Absolute Zero
03. A Rumor Of Skin
04. The Travellers Part 1
05. Tired
06. RU486
07. My Name Is Allen
08. Taciturn
09. Influence Of A Drowsy God
10. The Travellers Part 2
11. Last Of The Real

STONE SOUR has tapped Johny Chow as its live bassist for the band's upcoming tour behind "House Of Gold And Bones"Chow has formerly played with metal acts SOULFLYCAVALERA CONSPIRACY andFIREBALL MINISTRY, and replaces Shawn Economaki, who bowed out of the band earlier this year for personal reasons.

The group tapped Rachel Bolan of SKID ROW to play bass on the album itself, and Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio how that came together. "I'm well-documented being a huge SKID ROW fan. I can't remember who brought the name up, but I immediately was like, 'Dude, absolutely.' We knew somebody who had his number, so I called him and within 24 hours he was basically getting ready to do it. And he's just one of the coolest dudes on the planet and he schooled it. People are going to be very impressed by the bass playing."

Guitarist Josh Rand told Metalshrine about Bolan's involvement in the album, "It was a great experience. He's a phenomenal writer on top of being a phenomenal bass player and he brought this style into it that we felt had been lacking. Instead of following the guitars, he actually plays bass and it elevated all of the songs to a whole new level."

Bolan was unable to join STONE SOUR on tour because of his previous commitments to SKID ROW.

STONE SOUR will play a couple of festival dates in South America in early November before heading overseas later this fall for a European tour.

has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of its 2012"Noise Revolution Tour" following last night's (Saturday, October 6) final show in Flint, Michigan. Original STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos — who is currently on the road with SOULFLY — issued a statement in July indicating that he had "no interest in working with [STATIC-X frontman] Wayne Static, now, or anytime in the foreseeable future."

STATIC-X's recent trek marked the band's first outing since they announced a hiatus in 2009.

For months now, members of Blur have been speculating that the band’s recent performance at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert in London would be their last.  Now, the band has just announced that they’ll be headlining Belgium’s annual Rock Werchter festival in 2013.
“Rock Werchter is about to announce that Blur will headline next July,” wrote the band in a post on their Facebook page. “We’re excited.. hope to travel in 2013 to play to more of our lovely fans who we haven’t seen for a while.  Don’t know where yet, we’ll tell as soon as we do.. Stand by.”

Slipknot Percussionist Crahan Says Next Book Will Be About Women

It appears that we’ll be getting more artwork from Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan in the near future.  After releasing a book of experimental photography earlier this year titled The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey, Crahan says that he’ll be putting out similar projects in the future.
“You know, this is just the beginning for me,” Crahan tells ABC News Radio.  “This is just one of many.  I already have my second book actually done.  I love this and I want this to go as long as it needs to go.  When it’s time to do the other book, I’ll do the other book.”
Crahan revealed that the focus of his next book will be a unique study of the female form.  “It’ll be about women but through a man’s perspective,” he explains.  “And I think women will be like, ‘Well what the hell do you know about being woman,’ which is absolutely nothing, but I will portray you and you might look at it and go, ‘You know something.’  I try to find some truth within the art, otherwise why do it.”

You'll get your chance to hear the new song performed live as the band recently kicked off a North American tour on Saturday to support Transit of Venus.  Visit ThreeDaysGrace.com for more information.

Jack White Pits His Backing Bands Against One Another in Upcoming “I’m Shakin’” Video

Jack White will be staging his very own battle of the bands in the new video for “I’m Shakin’,” the next single from his debut solo album, Blunderbuss.  The ex-White Stripessinger says that the forthcoming video will feature both of his backing bands -- the all-female band the Peacocks and the all-male band the Buzzards – competing against one another.
"I really wanted to document the fact that we have two bands on the road and two bands in the studio,” White tells Fuse in a video interview.  “It's sort of like me versus myself in some way, like alter egos of the two bands.  Not really competing with each other but facing off in some way, showing two sides of the same story.”
A release date for the video has yet to be announced.

Serj Tankian Launches Fundraising Campaign to Record Classical Music Project, Orca

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian wants you to help fund his new classical music project.  The singer has composed a symphony, titled Orca, which he will be performing live with the Das Karussell Orchestra in Austria on October 28.  Tankian has recently launched an account on Kickstarter.com, a website on which people can pledge money for creative projects, to raise money to record the upcoming performance.
“While I have rearranged some of my past rock compositions to be performed as orchestral pieces, such as the Elect the Dead Symphony in 2010, Orca is the first 4-act symphony that I have composed, a mix of early 20th century compositional styles combined with the powerful range of film scoring,” said Tankian in a statement.  “I decided to name my symphony Orca because orcas appear to have no parallel outside humans in terms of their cultural faculties.  An orca is really a dolphin with much darker tendencies.  I see this dichotomy as a great metaphor for humanity.”
The fundraiser for the project will end on October 26, with Tankian hoping to raise $25,000 by then.  For a $35 pledge, you'll receive an email thank you from Tankian, a digital and physical copy of the Orca album, and an autographed Orca score sheet.  The incentives become greater the more you pledge, right on up to lunch with Tankian, front-row VIP tickets to the concert in Austria, and personal recognition on stage from Tankian at the end of the performance.
