SOUNDGARDEN: Best Buy Deluxe Version Of 'King Animal' To Include Five Bonus Demo Tracks
SOUNDGARDEN will add five bonus tracks to the Best Buy deluxe edition of its upcoming album, "King Animal". The cuts will be demo versions of the songs "Black Saturday", "Worse Dreams", "By Crooked Steps","Bones Of Birds" and "A Thousand Days Before", all of which appear in finished form on the main 13-song album. "King Animal" is the first collection of all-new material from SOUNDGARDEN in 16 years, and first since the group reunited in 2010.

Drummer Matt Cameron told The Pulse Of Radio two things that he thinks made SOUNDGARDEN special then and now: "In our scene up here in the Northwest in the '80s and '90s, we were sometimes considered to be the RUSH of Seattle, just because we could sort of play our instruments maybe better than most bands. [laughs] We never really tried to flaunt any musical chops, but we always had pretty diverse tastes. We had a lot of really cool influences amongst ourselves that we tried to infuse in the music."
"King Animal" is due out on November 13. The first single from the disc is called "Been Away Too Long".
Singer Chris Cornell told OnstageWeb that the track is literally about the band's reunion, explaining, "It means that a group, in this case personified by SOUNDGARDEN, has been away and the length of that away time has suddenly become maybe overextended. So been away too long, like thank God we're back now. It seems like it might have been a little bit too long for us to be gone."
The vocalist added that he was surprised that SOUNDGARDEN seems poised to once again fill a void for "real" rock music, saying, "I always expected that after we broke up or even maybe before we broke up that there should be or would be some very vital scene, numerous interesting rock bands that are kind of taking the history of rock music and making it their own."
METALLICA Pays Tribute To GREEN DAY At 'Voodoo Music + Arts Experience'
According to The Pulse Of Radio, METALLICA paid tribute to GREEN DAYat the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans on Saturday (October 27).
The rock band stepped in to GREEN DAY's slot after Billie Joe Armstrongchecked in rehab for substance abuse, forcing GREEN DAY to cancel a series of appearances. But GREEN DAY wasn't forgotten at the annual music festival.
During METALLICA's two-hour set, James Hetfield told the crowd, "We're GREEN DAY, just a little taller." Hetfield later mentioned GREEN DAY again, saying, "They're getting it sorted out, hopefully they get it fixed because the world needs them." After that, METALLICA played a riff from GREEN DAY's "American Idiot".
METALLICA also dedicated the "Master Of Puppets" track "Battery" toArmstrong, telling the audience, "This one's for Billie."
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett spoke to Fuse about the band's addition to the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, telling the channel. "We got a message about [in early October] asking us if we're able to fill in for GREEN DAY, because Billie Joe was having some issues," he said. "We discussed it between the four of us and we all said, 'Yeah, it would be great thing for us to do and it would also be great to help out Billie Joe, 'cause he's a friend of ours and we love GREEN DAY. If we can help them out in any way possible, we're always happy to do it, 'cause we love those guys. It's actually an honor for us that they approached us and asked if we can fill in."
Hammett recently told Billboard that the band will start working on a new album soon.
On Decemeber 10, METALLICA will release a live DVD called "Quebec Magnetic".
COREY TAYLOR Talks New STONE SOUR Album In Video Interview
Dave Bertram of Access: Rock recently conducted an interview withSLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor in Stockholm, Sweden about "House Of Gold And Bones - Part 1", the first half ofSTONE SOUR's two-disc concept album.
"House Of Gold And Bones - Part 1" arrived on October 23. The second half will come out next year, probably in May.
Corey Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio that the project has turned out even better than he had hoped. "It's some of the best work we've ever done," he said. "Song-wise, guitar-wise, performance-wise, I mean, everything. It's so good. It's come out so much better than I thought it was going to. It's surpassed all of our expectations. It's really, really good."
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the making of the project, Taylor said, "Even with the time constraints we had, we basically recorded two albums in the time it takes to record one. So we were doing double-duty every day. I was tracking two songs vocally a day just to keep us on a deadline and it really pushed us to strive for excellence."
The singer also said that the band wanted to "really try and go for (a) natural vibe on this without using a ton of samples and really try to differentiate us from everybody else out there . . . we wanted to really capture a unique sound."
STONE SOUR has tapped Johny Chow as its live bassist for the band's tour behind "House Of Gold And Bones". Chow has formerly played with metal acts SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and FIREBALL MINISTRY, and replaces Shawn Economaki, who bowed out of the band earlier this year for personal reasons.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett Gives Update on Metallica’s 3D Movie; Hopes Film Will Hit Theaters in Summer 2013
New details have been revealed about Metallica’s first 3D feature-film project. GuitaristKirk Hammett says that the band has completed filming the project and is just about ready to starting editing the movie. “We have seen some of the 3D footage and it looks amazing,” Hammett tells ABC News Radio. “We’re finished filming the concert footage aspect of it and now I think we’re just finishing the storyline that weaves in and out of the concert footage and that should be done and ready and released sometime next year. We’re hoping for a summer release.” The guitarist adds that fans shouldn’t expect the upcoming movie to be like any other concert film they’ve ever seen. “There’s no interviews, there’s no…backstage exclusive footage or anything like that, it is a completely different experience,” he explains. “There’s been a million concert footage films out there and some of them are just fantastic but we wanted to go a different route and so that’s what we decided to do.” In other Metallica news, the band will release a live DVD titled Quebec Magnetic, which documents two of the band’s 2009 concerts in Quebec City, on December 10.
Linkin Park, Mumford & Sons, fun. Score Preliminary Nominations for People's Choice Awards
The final nominees for the 39th annual People's Choice Awards won't be announced until November 15, but the polls are now open at PeoplesChoice.com for fans to vote for their favorites in the preliminary rounds. Leading the pack in the rock categories are Linkin Park, Mumford & Sons, fun. andGotye, who have each scored two preliminary nominations. LP and Mumford & Sons will be competing against Green Day, No Doubt, Shinedown, Dave Matthews Band, The Black Keys, The Killers, Van Halen and more for final nominations in the Favorite Band category. In addition, fun.’s “We Are Young,” featuring Janelle Monáe, and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” are competing for a place in the Favorite Song category, and both bands will duke it out with Mumford & Sons and Linkin Park for a slot in the Favorite Album category. None of these artists will advance, however, unless fans actually vote them into the final top five in each category. The 2013 People's Choice Awards will be handed out live on CBS on January 9.
Green Day Debuts Video for "The Forgotten"
Although they've had to cancel all upcoming tour dates in support of their trio of new albums while front man Billie Joe Armstrong is in rehab, Green Day continues to crank out new material of one sort or another. The latest is a video for a new mid-tempo, piano-driven ballad called "The Forgotten" which appears on the upcoming soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. The video premiered Tuesday on MTV and MTV.com. The video intersperses clips from the movie with footage of Green Day in a recording studio working on the song -- including shots of Armstrong tracking the lead vocal -- as well as stylized footage of the band on stage.
The soundtrack hits retailers on November 13, while the movie hits theaters November 16.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Damaged by Hurricane Sandy
Add the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to the list of casualties of Hurricane Sandy. ABC NewsChannel5 in Cleveland reports that wind sheared some siding off the building and flood waters from nearby Lake Erie nearly topped a wall in front of the building. However, a Hall spokeswoman told the station that there was no flooding inside the building and that damage to the building was "superficial." The museum was set to open, although an hour later than usual, on Tuesday morning.
Jack White Raps on New Track, “Blues on Two Trees”
Jack White’s musical resume just keeps getting bigger. The ex-White Stripes frontman is trying his hand at rapping on a new track, “Blues on Two Trees,” which is the exclusive non-album B-side to his current Blunderbuss single, “I’m Shakin’.” While the singer has posted a 33-second snippet of the song online, members of White’s Third Man Records’ Vault can now stream the track in full. “I’m Shakin’” and “Blues on Two Trees” are now available for purchase on iTunes.
