Jane’s Addiction to Begin Recording “Another Body of Work” Later This Month

Jane’s Addiction fans can expect to get their hands on some new music from the band in 2013.  Frontman Perry Farrell says that the guys will be heading into the studio to begin working on new material when their Theatre of the Escapists tour wraps up at the end of the month.
“When [the tour’s] over in October, we’ll immediately get into recording another body of work,” Farrell tells ABC News Radio.  “I don’t want to call it an album but it’ll be more than one song.  It’s not a single.  We have a concept to put out a body of music that would be maybe 45 minutes long.”
The singer adds that the band has been putting together a special interactive stage show to go along with the new project as well.  “We have a new concept for the performance,” explains Farrell.  “We’ve been working on honing the ideas on this tour, but it’s going to really blow out and really fold out into like an origami of another type of way to experience music.”
Farrell expects the band to release the new project and hit the road to promote it sometime next year.

Soundgarden Previews "Dark" New King Animal Track, “Bones of Birds”

Soundgarden keeps on giving us tastes of their first studio album in more than 15 years,King Animal.  The band has released a two-minute video that features a snippet of the new track, “Bones of Birds,” along with an interview with frontman Chris Cornell and drummer Matt Cameron.
In the clip, Cornell says “Bones of Birds” is “a little dark” and was inspired by being a parent and dealing with the loss of his child’s innocence.  “When [children]…learn about the real world, it’s never a good thing,” explains the singer.  “It’s always because…of loss, something bad happens, something they weren’t expecting.  I guess it's the stress that I feel about not wanting them to have to go through those things, but obviously knowing it's gonna happen."

Bassist Jeff Ament Says Next Pearl Jam Album Is “Still Sort of a Blank Slate”

It appears that we’ll have to wait until next year to get our hands on Pearl Jam’s next album. Bassist Jeff Ament says that the band is far from completing their follow up to 2009’s Backspacer.
“Even though we have seven or eight songs recorded it’s still sort of a blank slate and that’s exciting,” Ament tells Guerrilla Candy. “There is some stuff that’s pretty well finished and sounds good right now, but who knows if that stuff is going to end up on the next record. We may get together...and come up 15 things that are better than that, and that’s the new record.”
The bassist adds that he expects the band to head back into the studio to continue working on their tenth studio album in early 2013. “I think the idea is that everybody takes the holidays off and then at some point somebody will pick up the phone, maybe late January or early February, and that will kind of start the [recording] process over again,” he notes.
In other Ament news, he's getting ready to hit the road to support Acts, the debut album of his side project, RNDM. That outing kicks off on October 31 at the Badlander in Missoula, MT, which is the day after Acts arrives in stores.
