Kirk Hammett Says Boris Karloff Outfit Inspired Him to Create Too Much Horror Business Book
Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett’s love of horror movies may have spawned his gigantic horror memorabilia collection, but it was a certain outfit worn by late actor Boris Karloff78 years ago that inspired him to write his coffee table book, Too Much Horror Business. Karloff is best known for his portrayal of Frankenstein's monster in a series of classic films, and for serving as both the narrator and the voice of The Grinch in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
"One of my favorite pieces is the outfit Boris Karloff wore in The Black Cat from 1934," Hammett tells Fuse in a video interview. "When I acquired it, it made me seriously think about making a book. But once it arrived at my house, I put it on. I actually put it on and walked around and pretended I was Boris Karloff's character for about two, three hours."
The guitarist is currently promoting Too Much Horror Business by making appearances in several U.S. cities to sign copies of the book for fans. Visit the book’s Facebook page to see the full itinerary.
Defontes Drummer Says Koi No Yokan Is About True Love
The title of the Deftones seventh studio album is all about love. Drummer Abe Cunningham says that Koi No Yokan -- a Japanese term that doesn’t translate into English -- is about that finding that unique connection with someone special.
“I think that many people go through life trying to find ‘the one,’” Cunningham tells Icon Vs Icon. “It is a really special feeling, but it is not to be confused with love at first sight, because it is not that, it is a sense. Everyone is looking for that love -- maybe not everyone, but most everyone is looking for something special in life. For those that can find it, it's a great thing.” Koi No Yokan is due in stores on November 13.
