FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Drummer Discusses 'Revolver Golden Gods' Nomination, Performance

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently entered Las Vegas' The Hideout Recording Studio to begin recording its fourth album for a summer release. Helming the sessions once again is The Hideout's owner, Kevin Churko, the Canadian musician, sound engineer, songwriter and record producer, who has also previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE and IN THIS MOMENT, among other acts.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is scheduled to make a number of festival appearances this summer, including on a yet-to-be-announced "big tour" (rumored to be Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival) in the U.S. The band was also nominated in the "Best Live Band" category at the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards Presented By Epiphone, which will take place Thursday, May 2, at Club Nokia in Downtown Los Angeles.

A short video clip of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer talking to Artisan News about the Revolver Golden Godsnomination and performance can be seen below.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's third album, "American Capitalist", was certified gold last year for sales of 500,000 copies. Not only is it the band's third album, but it is the third consecutive release from the group to reach the gold mark, with previous efforts "The Way Of The Fist" and"War Is The Answer" also selling more than half a million copies each."American Capitalist" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart when it came out in October 2011.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory told The Pulse Of Radio that staying focused is the key to the band's success. "I think the idea of 'rock star' has changed in the last two decades," he said. "The whole idea of like, 'hey, let's party, let's drink or do stuff that's stupid' doesn't work. It's a different world now. You have to be really conscious of what's happening, because it's so much harder now. You really have to work for it, you really have to know what you're doing, you have to be aggressive, goal-oriented, and you have to have a head on your shoulders, or it's just not gonna happen."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's most recent tour was last summer'sTrespass America trek, also featuring KILLSWITCH ENGAGEPOP EVILand others.

Stone Sour's Corey Taylor Talks Butt-Kicking Process for Making House of Gold and Bones Comic Series

Next month, fans will get their hands on the first issue of Stone Sour’s comic book adaptation of their double concept album, House of Gold and Bones.  Frontman Corey Taylor says that while he’s enjoying the process of making the comic mini-series, it requires more work than he originally anticipated.
“It’s been kicking my butt the whole time,” he tells ABC News Radio. “There’s so many people that you have to over-explain the things that you see in your head to the artist because they can’t read your mind. There’s all these little things that keep a comic moving that I just kind of took for granted because, you know, as a reader you just enjoy it when it’s done really well.”
Taylor adds that he learned a lot while making the four-issue series, and that he was able to bring his unique perspective as a comic book fan into the mix. “[The people at Dark Horse Comics] really tried to, kind of, convey to me how a comic should feel and they’ve let me stray from the norm here and there,” he explains. “So, I think between all of us we’ve been able to make something really exciting."
The first issue of the comic book series will be available starting April 17. House of Gold & Bones Part 2 will arrive at all the usual outlets on April 9.

Jack White’s Blunderbuss Goes Gold

Jack White’s Blunderbuss just went gold.  The Recording Industry Association of America has certified that the ex-White Stripes singer’s debut solo album has sold over 500,000 copies.
Blunderbuss has been a hugely successful release for White, scoring him his first #1 album on the Billboard 200 albums chart its first week out. While White has racked up seven top-10 albums with The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, he'd never scored a #1 album on the Billboard album chart until Blunderbuss. White’s previous highest-charting release was The Stripes’ final studio album, Icky Thump, which hit #2 when it was released in 2007.
In addition, Blunderbuss was the best-selling vinyl album of 2012, racking up 33,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan's vinyl charts. Blunderbuss unseated The Beatles' 1969 album, Abbey Road, which had held the top spot on the vinyl charts for the last three years. Blunderbuss is also the first new album to top the vinyl charts since SoundScan first started tracking vinyl sales in 2008.

Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire Make Rolling Stone’s “New Immortals” List

Pearl Jam and Arcade Fire are among the artists that have scored a place on Rolling Stone’s list of The New Immortals -- that is, relatively current acts the magazine thinks will stand the test of time.
Pearl Jam makes the list because they've built “one of the most devoted cult audiences in rock,” while Arcade Fire gets immortal status for making music that combines the “the naked emotion of Bruce Springsteen's best work with the stadium-shaking ambition ofU2 circa The Joshua Tree."
Other rock artists that made the mag’s tally include WilcoGreen DayThe Strokes,Phish and two bands that called it quits in 2011: The White Stripes and LCD Soundsystem.
The New Immortals list is an offshoot of Rolling Stone's Immortals list of the 50 greatest artists of all time, first published in 2004.

Volbeat’s Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies to Feature Guest Appearance from King Diamond

Volbeat has revealed that King Diamond, frontman of Danish metal pioneers Mercyful Fate, will appear on the band’s upcoming album, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies. Diamond will lend his talents to a track titled “Room 24,” which was inspired by "a terrifying experience in a hotel room.”
"Having King on the record is a huge privilege,” said frontman Michael Poulsen in a statement.  “He wrote his own lines, and it is half my lyrics and half his.  It’s a weird, scary story, and he’s the perfect person for it.”
Poulsen adds that the upcoming release will feature a variety of different musical styles and includes a cover of alternative rockers Young the Giant’s hit single, “My Body.”  "It's a new vibe for Volbeat,” he explains.  "You've got everything -- the rockabilly stuff, the melodies, the ultra-heavy stuff, the Western motifs and the big rock songs.  It's everything that Volbeat are all about, but taken even further."
Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies will arrive at all the usual outlets on April 9.
