HALESTORM Singer: Winning A GRAMMY 'Is Such A Huge Milestone For Us'

HALESTORM was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 55th annual Grammy Awards, which was held last night (Sunday, February 10) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. HALESTORM was nominated for the track"Love Bites (So Do I)" , from the band's 2012 album "The Strange Case Of…"

Writing on her InstagramHALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale said: "Last night was an incredible moment...

"I want to say a few words now that my head is together.

"This is such a huge milestone for us. I've been in this silly band HALESTORM since I was 13. That's 16 years I've been working at this.

"We've been playing an average of 260 dates a year since I was a teenager. So after dedicating my life to rock, receiving a Grammy for 'Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance' last night is such an amazing honor!

"I'm so proud to represent for my genre, which, by the way, is the beating heart and inspiration for so many other genres (even all the pop kids want to be rock stars). I'm also so proud to represent for all my femme freaks out there; I am the first female to win a Grammy in this category. I hope to use this gift as a weapon of empowerment.

"Nothing great comes without hard work and patience. It's a huge combo of luck and tunnel vision.

"I'm living proof that you can achieve your goals in life.

"Thank you to everyone who gave us a chance and has supported us throughout the years. Most of all, thanks you to our families and our freaks for enabling us to do what we love every day. We love you!"

"Love Bites" hit No. 1, making HALESTORM the first female-fronted act in history to top the Active Rock chart.

COREY TAYLOR Talks About Upcoming Book In Video Interview

Cinema Assassin conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor last month during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. You can now watch the chat below.

Taylor performed with FOO FIGHTERS mainman Dave Grohl as part of a new band called the SOUND CITY PLAYERS on January 18 at a concert in Park City during Sundance. The show featured what a publicist described as "core musicians" as well as "special guests" who appear inGrohl's new documentary"Sound City: Real To Reel".

Taylor's second book, a follow-up to his 2011 memoir "Seven Deadly Sins", will be published this coming summer. The tentative title is "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven". He explained what it's about, "It's basically my experiences with the paranormal, and ghost sightings and occurrences, and I've had a lot, enough that I'm writing a damn book about it. But it's actually . . . it's about how can I believe in ghosts, and not in God? So it's a very interesting conversation. And that's kind of what I wanted to do with 'Seven Deadly Sins', was start a conversation and get people thinking about it."

"Seven Deadly Sins" made the New York Times hardcover non-fiction best sellers list after it came out in July 2011, debuting at No. 26. The paperback edition, issued last year, features a bonus chapter.

Taylor promoted the book by doing a solo tour in which he combined readings, songs and discussion with the audience.

The Black Keys' Patrick Carney Says Justin Bieber Doesn't Need Grammys Because "He's Rich"

Patrick Carney doesn’t think that teen pop star Justin Bieber deserves to win any Grammy Awards.  The Black Keys drummer, whose band took home three Grammys on Sunday for their El Camino album, says that Bieber shouldn’t get any Grammys for his music because his tremendous wealth should be enough of a reward.
“He's rich," Carney tells TMZ.com.  "Grammys are for, like, music, not for money.  And he's making a lot of money.  He should be happy."
The big winner of the Grammys, technically, was Keys singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach.  In addition to the three awards the band picked up, Auerbach won an additional trophy for Producer of the Year, bringing his total to four.

Stone Sour Posts Lyric Video for “Do Me a Favor”

Stone Sour has released a lyric video for their new single, "Do Me a Favor," which is included on the upcoming, second installment of their House of Gold & Bones concept album.  In the four-minute clip, the song's lyrics flash against walls of a rundown, empty house, and pieces of broken glass.  In addition to checking out the song online, you can purchase it at all digital retailers on Tuesday.
House of Gold & Bones Part 2 is set to arrive in stores on April 9.  Shortly after that, you’ll be able to get your hands on the first issue of a comic book mini-series based on the double album starting April 17.

Jack White Working on “20 to 25 Tracks” for Second Solo Album

Jack White may not have taken home any trophies for his debut solo album during the Grammy Awards on Sunday, but the singer will hopefully get another shot in the near future as he’s already in the studio making the follow-up to Blunderbuss.
"I've got about 20 to 25 tracks I'm working on right now -- a lot of songs," White tellsRolling Stone.  "It's a good time for writing for me."
The ex-White Stripes singer adds that he has been recording the new tracks with his all-female backing band, the Peacocks, and his all-male backing band, the Buzzards.  “I just want to write and bring the Buzzards and Peacocks in and work on some things and work on the things with no intention of what it's going to be,” he reveals.  “No competition between the bands -– just keep writing and recording until I decide what it's going to be."
White notes that the upcoming album will feature a variety of different musical styles.  "It's definitely not one sound," he explains.  "It's all over the place.  After going out on the road with two bands, that a gigantic new family, my influences have just spread out even more."
A release date for the album has yet to be announced.

Auerbach and Gonis have one child together, a 4-year-old daughter named Sadie Little Auerbach.
Auerbach won a total of four Grammy Awards on Sunday, including a trophy for Producer of the Year for his work on Dr. John’s album, Locked Down, as well as on the Black Keys' own album El Camino and an album by Hacienda.

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda to Select Artists for Recording Academy’s Centerstage Program

Linkin Park multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda has signed on to participate in the Recording Academy’s new initiative to help emerging artists.  Shinoda will be part of a panel for the Centerstage Powered by Grammy Amplifier program, which will select three undiscovered artists to receive prizes that will help them on their journey to become Grammy winners.
Bands who submit their music to GrammyAmplifier.com will be eligible to win a recording session with a Grammy-winning producer or the chance to work with a noted producer or director on a music video.  In addition, the winners will also get the chance to be the opening act on a major tour or music festival.
“The line between professional musician and amateur has completely vanished,” Shinoda tells Billboard.biz.  “People at any level can now have a successful career as musicians. This project is the Academy’s way of adapting to those changes.”
The three winners of the program will be announced at this year’s South by Southwest music festival, which runs March 12-17 in Austin, Texas.
