SLASH Helps Launch Bob Irwin Wildlife Conservation Foundation; Video Available
Legendary guitarist Slash helped Steve Irwin's father, Bob Irwin, launch the Bob Irwin Wildlife Conservation Foundation earlier today (Wednesday, August 22) at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia.
Slash, who first met Irwin at the Soundwave music festival in 2010, said, "He brought some animals down to Soundwave so we got to actually meet, so I was really starstruck.
"Ever since I can remember from childhood I've liked snakes and reptiles and animals in general. But snakes in particular," he added.
Irwin said it was an honor to have Slash attend the launch.
"The best thing about this guy is he's right into conservation and I love him," he said.
Slash himself became well-known during his days with GUNS N' ROSES as the owner of numerous snakes, although he told The Pulse Of Radio he had to dial it down when he became a father. "I used to have a plethora of snakes, but we got rid of everything right before my first son was born because you have 80, you know, life-threatening snakes around and a baby, you know, who's going to grow up to be a toddler that's gonna get into everything," he said. "You know, I got sort of cold feet about the whole thing."
Slash was honored last year by the Los Angeles Zoo for his contributions to the wildlife center and is also a trustee on the board.
TREMONTI To Headline Fourth Annual 'HardDrive Live Tour'
United Stations' nationally syndicated radio show "HardDrive" has announced the 2012 "HardDrive Live Tour" featuring TREMONTI andMAN THE MIGHTY. The fourth annual trek will begin in Flint, Michigan on September 20, and is scheduled to hit thirteen cities across North America. TREMONTI with CHARM CITY DEVILS will be doing two warm-up dates, "The Road To HardDrive", on September 11 in West Greenwich, Rhode Island and September 12 at the Highline Ballroom in New York City.
"HardDrive" host Lou Brutus will be on-hand for some of the dates.
A national promotion will be launched on both HardDrive and HardDrive XL in the coming weeks.
Local radio affiliates will be giving away tickets, meet-and-greet passes and chance to win a Mark Tremonti PRS guitar.
The "HardDrive Live Tour" is produced by Mike Childs and Ledge Entertainment in association with "HardDrive".

Mark Tremonti's debut solo album, "All I Was", sold more than 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 29 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on July 17 viaFret 12 Records, a company Mark started with his brother, Daniel Tremonti, and Tom Stanley.
With two bands and a solo career, The Pulse Of Radio asked Tremontihow he knows which project the songs he writes are best suited for. "I've just gotten this filter, this intuition that tells me what songs go to which band, and with my solo stuff, the rhythm section is so different from the other bands, I think it really stands apart," he said. "I think it's a little more aggressive than both the other bands, but you just have to hear it, I guess."
His solo band, also billed TREMONTI, features ALTER BRIDGE and CREEDbassist Brian Marshall in the lineup along with guitarist Eric Friedmanand drummer Garrett Whitlock.
Soundgarden Reveal New Album Name, Offer Preview of “Worse Dreams”
Soundgarden has revealed the name of their first new studio album in 15 years. TitledKing Animal, it's expected to arrive in stores on November 13.
In addition, the band has posted online a preview of “Worse Dreams,” one of the tracks from the forthcoming album. The 37-second clip features a snippet of the track, along with behind-the-scenes footage of the guys working in a recording studio, blended with scenes of the band performing live during their recent reunion tour.
Smashing Pumpkins to Perform on The Tonight Show
The Smashing Pumpkins have just announced their first national television appearance since releasing their seventh studio album, Oceania. On Thursday night, The Pumpkins will rock out on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The band will be performing their current single, “The Celestials.”
The Pumpkins are expected to announce their plans for a North American tour to promoteOceania in the coming weeks.
Evanescence's Amy Lee Talks "Traumatic" Struggle with Fame
For Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee, worldwide success as a rock star isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. The singer says that she struggled with the band’s meteoric rise to fame after they released their 2003 debut album, Fallen.
“[Fame] happened really quickly, and I was really young,” Lee tells Michigan Live. “One of the traumatic things is, you don’t get any chances to make mistakes. You get crucified for it. I definitely felt like I was under the microscope. I was frustrated, and had always been an anti-fan of fame.”
Lee added that she’s now “more comfortable” with her celebrity status, thanks to the band’s loyal fan base. “When I think I’ve had enough, and want to have a normal life and go home, I end up at a meet and greet, and meet a fan who tells me their life has changed because a song touched them,” explains Lee. “We take a lot of inspiration from our fans. But it did take some time to process the fame. I never wanted to be a rock star or any of that.”
Evanescence is currently trekking across North America on the third installment of the Carnival of Madness Tour with Chevelle, Halestorm and New Medicine.
Ten years ago, Seether released their major label debut album, Disclaimer. To celebrate the milestone, the band has posted a previously unreleased video online for one of the album’s tracks, "Sympathetic."
