LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst says that his band hasn't done any extensive touring in U.S. for a number of years because he has become disillusioned by the ever-changing taste of the American audiences.
"We don't play back home," he tells U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine. "We've boycotted America for many years now. I don't know, I just don't wanna go out like that. We did a few radio shows in 2010 for a friend and that was it. We haven't properly toured America since 2006. The reason? We just don't know what's going on in America. It's all about the new catchy thing and that's always changing."
He continues, "America is driven by record sales. It's the home of corporations. We're just LIMP BIZKIT, so we don't know how to do anything but LIMP BIZKIT.
"But here's the deal: say in 2000, there were 35 million people who connected to this band. Twelve years later, lots of those people have moved on. We were a moment in time and it's over."
LIMP BIZKIT last year parted ways with Interscope, the label that released all of the band's records thus far through its subsidiaries Flip,Geffen and Suretone Records.
2011's "Gold Cobra" was LIMP BIZKIT's first CD to feature the original lineup of Fred Durst (vocals), Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass),John Otto (drums), and DJ Lethal since 2000's "Chocolate Starfish And Hot Dog Flavored Water".
Earlier this year, LIMP BIZKIT signed a new deal with Cash Money, Lil Wayne's longtime record company.
STONE SOUR: Two New Songs Available For Streaming
Two brand new songs from STONE SOUR, "Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero", from the band's upcoming fourth album, "House of Gold & Bones - Part 1", can be streamed below.
"House Of Gold And Bones" is a two-part concept effort that was recorded at Sound Farm Studios outside the band's home base in Iowa with producer Dave Bottrill. Part One is due on October 23 viaRoadrunner Records and Part Two will be released around May, according to singer Corey Taylor. He tells RollingStone.com, "It all comes down to how much time the record label wants to give between albums, basically."
He said, "Even with the time constraints we had, we basically recorded two albums in the time it takes to record one. So we were doing double-duty every day. I was tracking two songs vocally a day just to keep us on a deadline and it really pushed us to strive for excellence."
According to Taylor, STONE SOUR's goal for the new record was to capture an organic vibe. "We wanted to really try and go for [a] natural vibe on this without using a ton of samples and really try to differentiate us from everybody else out there. A lot of bands fall into that pitfall of [going to] all the work of getting these great sounds and whatnot, then they hand it over to somebody who then starts filling in the blanks with all these samples," he said. "It just makes them sound like everybody else out there and we wanted to really capture a unique sound."
Taylor previously described the musical direction of "House of Gold & Bones" by saying, "Picture [PINK FLOYD's] 'The Wall' crossed withALICE IN CHAINS' 'Dirt' with some good heavy blasts in there." He added, "The heaviest song is a total ass-kicker that sounds as if SLAYERand ANTHRAX had a baby. Then, there's a darker bluesy dirge that has the vibe of LED ZEPPELIN's 'In My Time Of Dying'. There's even a little industrial vibe. It's definitely going to blow people's fucking minds.
Taylor added that he came up with a very ambitious concept for the disc.
"The album is a morality play about a man who's standing at the crossroads of his life trying to figure out what to do next," he said. "He's going, 'Do I move foward and evolve? Do I become more responsible or do I run backwards and pilfer the basket of youth?' Sometimes it's romantic to live in the mistakes that you made when you were 20, and condemn yourself to perpetual adolescence."
As previously reported, SKID ROW's Rachel Bolan laid down the bass tracks for the new STONE SOUR CD. He has described the material on the record as "fucking fierce."

ALL THAT REMAINS: New Song Available For Streaming
"Down Through The Ages", a brand new song from Massachusetts metallers ALL THAT REMAINS, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track comes off the band's new album, "A War You Can Not Win", which is due in September via Razor & Tie/Prosthetic. The CD sees the band reunited with longtime producer Adam Dutkiewicz (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, AS I LAY DYING, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE). The record is the culmination of an intense writing period for the group that began shortly after their 18-month tour in support of "For We Are Many".
Commented ALL THAT REMAINS singer Phil Labonte: "We really busted our asses and tried to do some new stuff (like we always do) and we're really happy about what came out of it. Some of it is pretty different and is REALLY gonna blow you guys away. Some of it is gonna sound just like what you expect from ALL THAT REMAINS. And I'm sure all of it is gonna make the Internet have a conniption fit!"
Dutkiewicz previously helmed ALL THAT REMAINS' last album, 2010's"For We Are Many", as well as 2004's "This Darkened Heart" and 2006's "The Fall of Ideals".
"For We Are Many" sold 29,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The band's previous CD, "Overcome", opened with just under 29,000 units in September 2008 to enter The Billboard 200 chart at No. 16.

Marilyn Manson Scrawls "F*** You" on His Face Before Going Through Airport Security
Many of us have probably muttered obscenities to ourselves when we pass through airport security, but Marilyn Manson went one step further: by scrawling them on his face.
According to TheHollywood Reporter, Manson went through security at LAX on Friday, with the words "F**k You" written in big black letters on the lower half of his face. The expletive wasn't directed at the security people, though -- Manson was, he says, simply trying to avoid the paparazzi. That's according to someone who was on line next to the rocker and posted their conversation on the social networking site Reddit.
"As we each removed our boots in the security line, he kindly explained that it was not directed at me or anyone else in the airport, but rather at the paparazzi, so that they couldn't sell any photos of him that they took," wrote the witness, adding, "He was really apologetic about it, and covered his mouth around young children while apologizing to their parents for exposing their child to profanity."
Before his trip to the airport, Manson recorded his handiwork for posterity, posting a picof his defaced face on his Facebook page. Say that five times fast.
New Three Days Grace Single "Chalk Outline" Hits iTunes Tuesday
"Chalk Outline," a brand-new single from Three Days Grace, hits digital providers Tuesday, August 14. A lyric video for the song is already available on YouTube. Also on Tuesday, fans can pre-order the band's fourth studio album, Transit of Venus, which will arrive October 2.
In a statement regarding the sound of Transit of Venus, Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson says, "We went for a tighter, more articulated sound on this record. The music we were writing was a little more intricate than in the past, and we've been experimenting with new instruments."
Sanderson added, "We wanted to present these new ideas concisely without going over-the-top in ambience and overall production.”
The Canadian rockers' last album, Life Starts Now, spun off three #1 rock singles: "Break," "The Good Life" and "World So Cold."
New Green Day Song Leaks Online
Last week, Green Day premiered several songs from the upcoming trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!and ¡Tré! at a "secret" show in Los Angeles. Now the studio version of one of those songs has leaked online after its U.K. radio debut.
"Kill the DJ," with its 1970s-style disco beat, is not a protest against dance music. In June, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone, "[Bass player]Mike [Dirnt] asked me to write a song with a four-on-the-floor rhythm. I'd never done it before. It's kind of like Sandinista!, Ian Dury's "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" and theTom Tom Club song, 'Genius of Love.' We were trying to figure out how to make dance music without turning into a dance band."
When asked who the DJ was he wanted to kill, Armstrong responded: "Static and noise."
The End of the Road for Blur? Maybe, Maybe Not, Albarn Says
Was Blur's show on Sunday in London's Hyde Park -- at a concert commemorating the end of the London Olympics -- the end of the road for the band?
If it was, frontman Damon Albarn isn't ready to say so just yet. "Will Blur do another album? It's very much on my mind. I feel very...torn between a lot of different emotions. I'm undecided about how I feel," he tells the U.K. magazine Q for a cover story this week. "There's a part of me that would love to be able to bring it into our 40s and our sort of family world. But does it belong in that world? Do any of us need that?"
Albarn does say that if Blur decides to continue, it won't be just as an oldies act, touring and playing classic material. "I don't want to just do gigs," he says. "I want to do something that has genuine resonance and helps explains to me why I am there. Something that explains to everyone who is the field why they're there. I do believe in the spirit. It's what drives me."
Meanwhile, as previously reported, Blur is planning a massive string of releases surrounding the Hyde Park show. A digital download of the performance was set for release on Monday. A three-CD collection including additional live material is due next week, and a five-disc collection -- expanded to include a DVD of the Hyde Park show and a CD of a live show the band played recently at the famous 100 Club in London -- is due in November.
Maybe the releases are a way of defraying the costs of performing the Hyde Park show. According to published reports, Albarn told U.K. tabloid The Sun that Blur was paid 300 pounds, or around $470, for the show, which was put on by the city of London. He says after expenses that worked out to about one pound for each band member.
Jack White Says Parents Should Show Kids How to Work a Turntable
Jack White is one of the music industry's biggest boosters of vinyl records, so it's not so surprising that in an appearance at L.A.'s Grammy Museum on Friday, he suggested that learning how to play a vinyl record on a turntable is a valuable skill that parents should pass on to their kids.
According to Billboard, White told the audience, "[It's] a good thing for parents to show their kids. It involves you immediately in the music. Your involvement in the media, romantically, can't be touched."
He added, "If you said 'Play a track,' and pushed a button on an iPod, there's absolutely nothing romantic about that. Pull out a record and are you not immediately more engaged? I relish the idea of showing a kid how to put a needle on a record."
White also talked about his life and his songwriting process, and explained why he keeps himself so busy with a variety of bands, as well as with his solo career.
"I feel that I'm always playing catch-up to an idea I had the other day," he said, noting that, when he returns to his home in Nashville in a week, "I'm going to play catch-up with an idea I had three weeks ago. That's much better than standing there and wondering, 'What should I do?'"
Meanwhile, White has added dates to his debut solo tour. Besides previously-announced additions of shows at New York City's Radio City Music Hall on September 29 and 30, White has added five dates in the Northeast and Canada.

Slipknot's Corey Taylor Talks Knotfest, New Music
When Slipknot plays Pacific Junction, Iowa on Friday, as part of their own two-day mini-festival, Knotfest, it will be a homecoming for the band. They originally hail from Des Moines, but haven't played Iowa in more than three years.
Frontman Corey Taylor tells the Des Moines Register that while Knotfest is small this year -- with a second show scheduled for Saturday night in Somerset, WI -- he imagines it growing into something larger, with or without Slipknot on the bill.
“We wanted to make it something that’s very much us, but at the same time we’re practical enough to know we couldn’t come right out of the gate with a 30-show tour,” Taylor tells the paper. “We’ll see what happens and maybe next year we send it out with different bands as something we don’t need to be a part of." He adds, "We think this has potential for the future, but we wanted to make sure we did it smart so that we can keep things going.”
Meanwhile, Taylor tells the Register that Slipknot is working on new music: the band's first since the 2010 death of bass player Paul Gray. Taylor tells the paper that he and drummer Joey Jordison have written new material that's being passed around among the band members, but he warns not to expect a new Slipknot album quickly.
“Our goal for the next album is that when it happens, we want to make sure everyone in the band gets to say something. It’s too important not to,” Taylor said. “It’s obviously going to be in the spirit of Paul, and I think everyone in the band needs to say something for him.”
Taylor says that Gray's death forced band members to re-examine their commitment to one another. “It was such a shock to us that it made us sit up and look at what we were doing with our lives and how we were toward each other," he said. “Losing someone like that, a great friend and an amazing brother —- someone who is so important to the band in so many ways -— you start to look at what you take for granted.”
Dropkick Murphys Extend Halfway to St. Patrick's Day Tour
Dropkick Murphys have announced a new string of tour dates for this fall, extending the band's Halfway to St. Patrick's Day tour, which begins September 14. The added shows run from an October 29 performance in Grand Rapids, MI to a November 16 date in Urbana, IL.
Pre-sale for these shows will begin on August 14 on the band's website, with most shows going on sale to the general public on August 17.
Dropkick Murphys are currently at work on a new album. The as-yet-untitled set is due out sometime next year.
