Slash Says “You’re A Lie” Was Almost Cut from Apocalyptic Love

There’s no denying that Slash’s single, “You’re a Lie,” is a hit, but the irony is the song was almost cut from the track list from his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love.
“The original version of [‘You’re a Lie’] had a different chorus and we never felt one hundred percent comfortable with it and so when we were in pre-production, the song was really on the chopping block,” Slash tells ABC News Radio. “I came up with a different idea for the guitar part for the chorus and…Myles [Kennedy] came up with a whole different vocal and changed the song completely and all of the sudden it made it.”
Slash noted that he plans to make another solo album with his backing band, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, just as soon as singer Myles Kennedy finishes working on a new album with his other band, Alter Bridge.
“Alter Bridge is Myles’s band so I don’t want to interrupt that,” Slash explains. “I don’t want to cause any friction, so as soon as there’s a time that seems right I’ll probably be writing material all throughout next year and when the time is right we’ll go in and get another record done.”

Frontman Corey Taylor Says Slipknot Taking “Baby Steps” to Record Next Album

For months now, members of Slipknot have expressed different opinions about the band’s plans to make their first album without late bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010. Frontman Corey Taylor says that while the band will definitely make a new album, they’re not sure exactly when they’ll begin the recording process.
“We're just taking baby steps and trying to do it right,” Taylor tells the Phoenix New Times. “Not rush into anything, and just get to a point where we're ready to make music without Paul. Which is going to be really hard, but we need to go down that road and…just coming together as a family again for it to be right."
Taylor added he felt that guitarist and Slipknot founding member Donnie Steele was the right choice to fill in for Gray during their current Rockstar Mayhem Festival dates withSlayer and Motörhead.
“It just makes sense to have someone from the family come in and pick up, help us pick up the pieces,” explains the singer. “But I don't see us ever replacing Paul. There's no replacing. But for now, Donnie is doing a great job and he's been helping us carry on.”

Dave Grohl’s Hometown Creates 900-Pound Drumsticks in His Honor

Dave Grohl is getting another tribute from his hometown of Warren, Ohio.  In addition to receiving a street named after him in 2009, the Foo Fighters frontman will now have something special created in his honor: a pair of 900-pound drumsticks made from poplar logs, reports the Youngstown Vindicator.
The gigantic sticks -– which feature carvings that mimic the feather tattoos on Grohl’s arms -- will be on display for the first time on Saturday during a concert at the Warren Amphitheater.  The sticks will stay in the amphitheater until September, when they will be moved to the street that was renamed Dave Grohl Alley.

Rob Zombie Says He Changed Artwork for Mondo Sex Head Due to Pressure from Retailers

Rob Zombie has unveiled the artwork for his new remix album,Mondo Sex Head. While the cover is a black-and-white retouched photo of a kitten’s face with one bright-red eye, it wasn't Zombie’s original idea for the album’s artwork. His original idea, which he changed due to pressure from retailers, was to use a black-and-white picture of a scantily-clad female model wearing some very revealing low-cut shorts.
“I never thought it would be a problem since it seemed tame to me…but it was,” Zombie tells Rolling Stone. “No one would carry the CD. Anything with death and violence is totally fine, but anything with sex, forget about it. So instead of censoring that cover and ruining it, I just removed the ass shot and replaced it with a p***y shot.”
Mondo Sex Head, set to arrive in stores on August 7, features new and unique remixes of some of Zombie’s hit songs by a number of popular electronic dance music DJs, includingKorn frontman Jonathan Davis’ alter ego, J Devil.
You’ll get your first chance to check out the album if you attend the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con opening-night attendee welcome party, titled "Dawn of the Con," next week. Zombie will previews tracks from Mondo Sex Head during the event as well as offer fans the chance to win exclusive merchandise. The event, which is free for all Comic-Con badge-holding attendees, will take place in San Diego's Petco Park on July 12 at 5:30 p.m. PT.
